NY Times’ Paul Krugman Calls for End to New Civility…

Fine with me, it’s not like the left ever acts civil to begin with.

(NY Times — Paul Krugman) Last week, President Obama offered a spirited defense of his party’s values — in effect, of the legacy of the New Deal and the Great Society. Immediately thereafter, as always happens when Democrats take a stand, the civility police came out in force. The president, we were told, was being too partisan; he needs to treat his opponents with respect; he should have lunch with them, and work out a consensus. . . .

Which brings me to those calls for a bipartisan solution. Sorry to be cynical, but right now “bipartisan” is usually code for assembling some conservative Democrats and ultraconservative Republicans — all of them with close ties to the wealthy, and many who are wealthy themselves — and having them proclaim that low taxes on high incomes and drastic cuts in social insurance are the only possible solution.

This would be a corrupt, undemocratic way to make decisions about the shape of our society even if those involved really were wise men with a deep grasp of the issues. It’s much worse when many of those at the table are the sort of people who solicit and believe the kind of policy analyses that the Heritage Foundation supplies.

So let’s not be civil. Instead, let’s have a frank discussion of our differences. In particular, if Democrats believe that Republicans are talking cruel nonsense, they should say so — and take their case to the voters.

And after the Giffords shooting Krugman was one of the first to blame it on “right-wing rhetoric.”

It’s funny how all this time “Bipartisan” has meant going along with the Demorats. Now that there is another gun in town bipartisan is dead. Now it’s back to the old “My way because I won”. Krugman should take his feet off of the centerfold and look out of his window more.

Can’t believe people still believe this stereotype. The richest people in our country are Democrats.

Krugman is a print version of Olbermann. Loud, vile, boring and obnoxious. That anyone could take this lying hypocrite seriously is a testimony to human stupidity.

I would be very surprised if Krugman were misinformed about this. I think he’s just pushing the propaganda.

“…and take their case to the voters”

Not the best strategy for the left. Theyre on the bottom rung in almost every poll in existance. So theyll just stick to name calling, hostility and lying.

Kruggy Wuggy is a marxist economist. We all know how marxists feel about the free markets and capitalism.

Not to mention the guy hardly writes anything that has to do with economics. Instead he mostly just pens leftist rants. The only other two folks at that paper more pathetic than him is Frank Rich and Gail Collins.

Can someone give me the exact date and time the left got civil please? because I haven’t seen it yet. after gibby was shot they just yelled at us to be civil while they continued to bash and act like the anti socials they are.

I’m all for not being civil when it comes to the left. Put me in Congress as House Speaker and see what I toss off at obama every chance I got.. to make it fair, Holder, Nappinginreno and the obama administration would be in for a verbal bashing 24/7.. Oh the fun I would have locking Debbie Ineedtowashmyhairman out of the House Chambers along with the CBC and all the rest of the left.

I would play hardball. I don’t play nice with those who have shown nothing but contempt for the American people and those of us on the Right.

What obama did to Ryan was childish and thugish.. I would respond in kind only being a girl I would BRING IT..

    Seriously?
