(CNN) — The White House released President Obama’s original birth certificate Wednesday.
The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.
Update: Gonna be a fun day!
(USA Today) — President Obama is releasing his birth certificate and other details of his Aug, 4, 1961, birth in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Obama himself plans to make a statement about the so-called “birther issue” at 9:45 a.m.
The release is a response to Donald Trump and other critics who have questioned whether Obama was born in the United States, and is therefore eligible for the presidency.
The White House also released letters from this month in which Obama requested copies of his birth certificate.
“The president believed it was becoming a major distraction from the issues we are having in this country,” said communications director Dan Pfeiffer, calling it a “fake controversy” and “a sideshow.”
Obama faxed a letter to the Hawaii Department of Health on April 22, requesting two copies “of my original certificate of live birth.”
The health department replied that it would make an exception for Obama and make a copy from their bound volume of birth records.
A White House attorney traveled to Honolulu this week to pick up the copies, which arrived at the White House yesterday afternoon.

this is still a COLB. A COLB is what you get when, because of circumstances, you cannot get an actual original BC. It’s also from his brithdate. This is precisely the type of document that you would get when you return from a foreign country with a newborn or that grandparents would arrange for when their daughter informs them she has had a child out of the country.

I’m not an expert but the font on the names do not appear to be from a 1960′s vintage typewriter, additionally there doesn’t appear to be fifty years of patina, I compared my birth certificate from 1962 which is quite tattered and torn from use and storage over the years, back in the 60′s there wasn’t much political correctness; Race: White / Race: Black. Yes nothing I’ve mentioned is conclusive just speculative but it’s by his own actions that we are suspicious. I wish someone with expertise in typewriter font would review and give us an opinion.

A couple years ago I went through a major hassle renewing my DL. DMV insisted on an ‘original copy’ of my BC and it had to have an embossed seal. The first one that I was sent had a seal that was not embossed and it was rejected.
We printed the bs’s BC and there’s no seal of any type. I’m not suggesting anything but it seems odd. Would that BC qualify for a DL or passport?

Many children in the islands were born at home without a doctor, nurse, or even a midwife. Anyone could get a COLB for a baby that nobody, in any State of Hawaii official capacity, ever knew anything about. Hawaii’s Territorial Law, Chapter 57 – “VITAL STATISTICS, I”, shown beginning pg 23 of 29, (the law in effect in 1961) allowed the parents (or grandparents or other relative) of baby’s born anywhere in the world to be eligible to apply for a Hawaiian birth certificate. A mailed-in form (without mention of a hospital, doctor, or midwife) signed by one of his grandparents (who forged the parent signature(s)) would have been enough to set up a birth record and a birth certificate at the Dept of Health. The Dept of Health would (presumably) then have automatically sent the names of the parents, their address as given on the mailed-in form , the gender of the child, and the date of birth to the Honolulu Advertiser and Star-Bulletin. Blow the document up in your browser. You will start to see some VERY interesting artifacts appear. This isn’t a photocopy. It is a computer generated document. UNLIKE the other long form ones released recently. That makes it dubious, at best.
Also, there were twins named Nordyke who were born on the day AFTER Obama at the same hospital. How is it that their certificate numbers are earlier than his? Their certificate numbers are 10637 and 10638, how did that happen?

Some such WH move was to be anticipated before the release of Corsi’s book. I am amazed how bad a move it was. It shows how hot things were getting out there for the usurper. And this will only cool things down a little for a while. This commits Zero to a Kenyan father who was not a citizen, he’s now fully cooked on Natural Born Citizen (nbc), which was always the stronger failing of eligibility anyway.
Furthermore, as people have pointed out here and elsewhere, there are still tremendous inconsistencies with statements previously made by HI officials, Kenyan officials, Zero’s family, and earlier press reports, as well as grave inconsistencies with genuine long-form BC’s. It’s looking like a fake, and there is plenty of time now for it to be exposed and the pressure to build on that and/or the nbc issue. WND is still behaving like they’ve go the ace in the hole.

Oh… I just noticed, this is a digitally “created” document. This is not a real “document”. Note the transparency layer. If you look down the right side, you can see that the top transparent layer isn’t fully transparent, or it is printed on a transparency and layered over the background patterned layer. Notice the lines that curve downward in the upper left corner, due to the “rolled back” “paper” edge. Note that the bottom line is perfectly straight in the lower left corner, though the “paper” edge still rolls back. Not as much, but still enough to cause the lines to curve. They don’t. Notice around the 5′s and 7′s blocks. Some of the lines are stair stepped downward moving from left to right. Only a few of them do this, this suggests those lines were computer drawn, and were not drawn straight, while others do not have this defect. Note the difference in character bottom alignment on some of the “O’s” in Oahu. Also not the change in some of the character spacings. This did not happen on type writers… only on Computers using TrueType fonts.
This at the very least, would prevent me from certifying the authenticity of this document.

Whoever posted that this “Certificate of Live Birth” was photoshopped, is absolutely right!! Zoom in and look at the type on the image. The letters are surrounded by white. The paper has the green bar pattern to prevent fraud. You should be able to see the green bars in the middle of the “O” or “B” or any letter that has a space in the middle when you zoom in. It’s not there. This document is a total FRAUD.

Actually no. I scan directly to PDF all the time. Perhaps that is the way it worked in the beginning with scanners. Or perhaps that is the way your defaults are set. However both my scanner at work and my scanner at home have the ability to scan directly to PDF and I use it all the time.

This in no way invalidates the fact that both the document the president presented as his long form birth certificate, and the Nordyke document, which everyone accepts as valid, both state the place of birth as “Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. So I can only assume that this portion of the CoLB is correct.
Not saying the document isn’t a fake. But these two points of argument can be laid to rest.
