Trump Says Obama Should ‘Get Off His Basketball Court’ — ThinkProgress
This morning, the White House released Obama’s long form birth certificate. Obama had already released an official version of his birth certificate during the campaign last year. However, because of nasty smears from people like Donald Trump, the White House believed a release of the original copy was necessary to avoid a “distraction” over the birth certificate issue. This morning, a smirking Trump told reporters he was claiming victory over the release. During the question and answer period, he added that Obama should get “off his basketball court” to respond to gas prices.
Many have alleged that Trump’s nonstop, unsubstantiated smears about Obama’s birth and legitimacy are coded racial language designed to inspire hatred against Obama’s identity. His recent comments about Obama’s “terrible grades” may be a hint to “resentful whites that this seemingly brilliant black man isn’t so smart after all,” writes Michelle Goldberg. Trump previously commented on the the “frightening” level of support that Obama enjoys from black voters and bragged that “I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.”
After Trump’s claims about Obama’s birth certificate were further discredited, he is moving on to even more transparent racist language. Will the media continue to provide a free platform to Trump’s hate-fueled publicity campaign?

Obama is extremely “smart” when it comes to his own self-aggrandizement.
Is he learned, or even well-read? No. His grasp of history is tenuous at best, his grasp of economics is pathetic. He retails historical howlers routinely.

Is he intellectually curious? There is absolutely no evidence of it.

Why is it we never see Obama playing b-ball one on one with a brother? He is always taking it to the hoop against some non-athletic looking white guy with a weird look on his face.
@Liz – I don’t care with whom he plays, but you are right that he could be at least playing against decent competition – I’ve played a lot of basketball in my time and I can tell by looking at the paint on the floor that this guy is completely out of position in the first place! LOL!

My exact thoughts/sentiments. The guy is IN, way over his head, and his incompetence would be hard to hide, even if he were a brilliant actor.
How he makes comments to the press with a straight face, as he did this morning, regarding his ridicule of the “BC issue”, when he states he has more important things to do, is beyond me. The first thing that came to my mind is -
He has golf, basketball, parties, fundraisers, vacations, secret meetings to hold, industries/companies to buy,etc.. He can’t even find time for the nation’s business, why should he be bothered with the little discrepancies that seem to follow him, everywhere he goes.
I haven’t heard people ripping him for playing too much basketball, just golf.
Him playing basketball I have no problem with. The court is at his house, so he can pop in to unwind, think things over. If he was holding round-robin tournaments every day, maybe, but playing a pickup game now and again, who cares?
With golf, you have to get dressed up, get Secret Service, travel–it’s a big to-do and a time waster.

Is the armored presidential limo a rental? Is being in the secret service presidential protection detail a part time job now, or are those people employed regardless of where he is?
Either way, perhaps you’d like to submit a list of activities and travel you approve of for the world’s most powerful man to undertake. Maybe also review his TV habits too if you’re going into some kind of parental mode here. You realize you get to tell your kids this and nobody else on the planet, yeah?

Gas to and fromthe east to west coast comes to mind. How much did he use the last time he went to a couple of fundraisers in LA? Wasn’t it something like 53, 500 gallons of gas. ONE TRIP!
And having people employed 24/7 to protect you, is one thing. Taking them on little junkets/fundraisers/golf-course trips, etc., is on the tax-payer dime, while business at hand hangs in the balance. Doesn’t it seem a little outlandish, that he spends more on extra-curricular activity, than he does on national business; more on wasted gas – wasted manpower – wasted time. Doesn’t it seem a little selfish, that he doesn’t care how much extra security/traffic control, etc., etc., etc., it takes to accomodate all the little extra’s when he gets to where he is going, when it has nothing to do with anything except for campaigning, or traveling, or playing. That may not bother you, but it bugs the hell out of me.
He has 19 months to go, on a job he can’t seem to do, and he is in full campaign mode, and dares to lecture us on sacrifice, and getting along, blah, blah, blah. You say the people would be working, no matter what he is doing; the gas would be used, no matter what he is doing; the TV would be watched, whether I approve or not. That is a bunch of BS.

It doesn’t cost us hundreds of thousands of dallars, unless, of course he is traveling to visit OPRAH, and doing a television show, as opposed to watching it.
Obama is not the world’s most powerful man. That is laughable. The U.S. Presidency use to be the most powerful office in the world, before he got the on-the-job training position. Now, it is a JOKE.
