Romney on Obama: “We’re going to hang him”

Mitt needs to drop out and get a clue.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney stumbled over an explosive turn of phrase Friday night, telling an audience here that Republicans would figuratively “hang” President Barack Obama with bad economic news.

Speaking at an Americans for Prosperity dinner, Romney’s comment came as he recalled Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign.

“Reagan came up with this great thing about the ‘misery index’ and he hung that around Jimmy Carter’s neck,” Romney said. “Well, we’re going to have to hang the ‘Obama Misery Index’ around his neck.”

“I’ll tell you, the fact that you’ve got people in this country really squeezed, with gasoline getting so expensive, with commodities getting so expensive, families are having a hard making ends meet. So we’re going to have to talk about that,” Romney said.

Romney continued, “We’re going to hang him —” before stopping mid-sentence.

“So to speak — metaphorically,” he clarified. “You have to be careful.”

Any reference to hanging — however unintentional — would be especially loaded in a campaign against the country’s first black president, as Romney apparently recognized.

He quickly recovered from the gaffe and continued his remarks. Andrea Saul, a spokeswoman for the former governor, said the context of Romney’s comment was obviously benign.

“It is not what the governor meant and that was very clear in what he actually said,” Saul wrote in an email, responding to a Boston Globe report on Romney’s remark. “It’s a ridiculous exaggeration of his actual comments.”

The Globe’s Glen Johnson first highlighted Romney’s comment online, noting that the “mix of nervous laughter with applause indicated that some in the audience realized its potency.”

So all Blacks on earth have inherited the history of lynching as part of their past? Obama is the son of a Black African, from Africa. First generation to the USA. His polygamist, Muslim raised pop beat feet out of his life and he was raised by them terrible White folk while his mother dumped him. Is the inheritance that brings the victim card, entitlements, a rewrite of history and the Bible so cheap that anybody with Black skin gets a membership card?

McCain was PC and look where that got him

I will say this much. We all know what the pathetic demonrats are going to do, we all know what the Obot protective media will do.

If Romney grows a set and tells them to STFU with the damn race card, I will respect him, if he cowers, then he better drop out of the race righ now, because I do not want to have a coward running as the repub nominee.

Put Trump as the nominee, put Palin as the nominee.

because we all know that pathetic dog earred race card will b played over and over and over. And I want someone with a spine and a set to fight back and fight back HARD.

What Romney does now will reveal to me if he wants to fight or go cower under the desk WHEN the race card is pulled out, and it will be!

I’m going to wait and see how Romney responds to being called a racist.

    ————

    They’re collectivists!

They believe that all guilt is collective, and all victimhood is collective.

If the collective government cannot find the exact person who committed a crime, they feel comfortable punishing anyone and everyone in his identity group. <—— The very definition of racism.

    -

BTW, none of Barack Obama's ancestors were persecuted by White American Slave Holders. He doesn't get to use the "400 years of oppression" line.

The only thing he could have inherited is the 'White Slave-holding' gene.

Hening, you probably know this although I’m not sure arniebrown does. Democrats hung Republicans, both black and white. They even had pictures (sketches really) of “white Republicans” they targeted. Since all blacks were assumed to be Republican, the color of their skins was enough to identify them.

I resent the “Mississippi” comment of arniebrowns. Although I am from AL and not MS, I cringe when I hear coments like this that negatively portray an entire State as murderers and racists. It’s one thing to joke about the southern states – my daughter even has a shirt that says “Alabama! Hell yes we have electricity”. Unlike some ethnic or nationalist groups, we southerners are comfortable with our identity and proud of our heritage so we can take a joke where those from other areas of the country can’t. I draw the line, however at anything that depicts southern states as racist or murderers. They are no different from any other area of the country in that regard. If anything, we are still known for southern hospitality and that extends to everyone….even those d#$% Yankees and carpetbaggers. Yuck!

Black African Americans have been part of this nation since the beginning. They have so much to be proud of in terms of how they served to keep this nation secure and the contributions they have made to the culture against formidable odds (as have other colors and ethnicities). Obama has no claim to any of that. He can put on the Southern accent, hang out with basketball stars, and claim an inheritance to the Civil Rights movement, but it’s all a con and thievery. He is the product of a middle-class White family that took the responsibility to do their best to raise him after his twisted mother and detestable old man left him. Black Americans adopting that facade to represent their history and contributions to the USA is a sham, and weakens their story considerably. Racism is ugly no matter what color of the skin professing it might be.

We always have so many different opinions about who would be the best choice on the GOP side. Someone sent me a test – 10 simple questions -, to tell where one actually stands, politically, ie., Libertarian, Conservative, etc., etc. Between several of my relatives and myself, we were shocked to find out that we all thought we were Straight Conservative, but some of us aren’t.

    Try it when you have time. It is interesting, easy, short, and you might be surprised;

That Romney remark & lame followup was as despicable as his past “who let the dogs out” and “bling bling” remarks were stupid…no this hang “metaphor” w/ lame attempt to mitigate it was much worse, inexcusable imo. There is nothing funny about “hang him” metaphors, especially when applied to blacks in America. Just b/c Obama himself is a rabid racist doesn’t mean he deserves racism in return. It’s wrong, period.

  24. 1389AD says:

Given that Obama has committed treason by the Constitutional definition of the term, by supporting al-Qaeda-backed rebels in Libya, he does indeed deserve hanging. Treason is a capital crime. Race does not exempt anybody from the traditional punishment for that crime.

Racism, classism, tribalism, socialism……..they all lead to the same place. They are all the same thing.

Feudalism, cannot work without creating a different set of rules for every class of people. It’s a ‘hierarchy of humans’ practiced for a thousand years, and it’s based on a lie! It does not exist!

NO PERSON ALIVE IS ANYMORE EVOLVED THAN ANYONE ELSE! Compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, the human gene pool is an unusually narrow set of possibilities.

Socialism is the latest label we have slapped on a strategy that has failed every time it has been tried. It is the social strategy of Kings, of Lords, of Commoners, and of Surfs. We humans should know what the outcome will be, but we keep doing the same stupid things over and over again. It’s a system that rewards the ‘favored’ and punishes the ‘unfavored’.

Socialism is a morality (yes, a morality) based on materialism. It doesn’t care about common standards for everyone. It is only concerned with the outcome. It assumes that the winner of every race is a cheater.

NOTHING justifies a different set of rules for one person, than for any other. Not for Blacks, not for Whites, and certainly not for ZOMBIES. I feel no obligation to accommodate any artificial reality.

It’s a figure of speech for gosh sake! In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the coworkers of Winston Smith were busy editing literary works in such a way that independent thought and expression is impossible. Literary expression and figures of speech were made impossible. That is the goal of todays liberal, humanitarian movement. Even a dumb doggy like me sees what they are up to. The LeftLibProggs have so sewn up the English language that there’s barely anything one can say that can’t be construed as harmful or hurtful to some party or another. We are tripped by the multitude of barbed -isms that are recklessly scattered about; when absolutely no foul is intended, they will throw out ‘racism’ on general principles.

BHO’s intellectually lazy supporters use the color of his skin to ward off any and all legitimate attempts to gauge the content of his character. They should not be allowed to get away with this sort of thing; I say that even though I’m not (nor will I ever be) a Mitt Romney supporter. Or Huckholio either, for that matter.

If the Right doesn’t fight back about this crap, then we’ve got no right to complain when the Left does it to real conservatives like Palin and West.

Is it possible to get a dictionary of all the words that Republicans are no longer allowed to use now that ‘post-racial’ President Obama is around? Apparently Obama is so confident and non-racist and supportive of free speech that there are many words and phrases and metaphores that are now no longer allowable in our free and open and accepting society- I just wish the PC police would churt out a rule book for what words Republicans are allowed to use so that this whole thing could be cleared up.

Although, I imagine that the words that are off limits for conservatives and Republicans to use is the dictionary, as liberals and Democrats are hate and tyranny.
