Napolitano: Since We Can’t Won’t Secure The Border, We’re Going to Change The Way Security Along It Is Measured…

Problem solved!

WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said her department is developing a comprehensive index to measure Southwest border security in a new way that looks deeper into the quality of life of Americans who live near Mexico.

Instead of just counting arrests and drug seizures, the new index would look at community concerns about environmental damage, economic losses and feelings of personal safety. She told a Senate panel on Wednesday that she has ordered Customs and Border Protection to work with outside experts and border communities to develop the index.

Border residents have long complained that traditional measures, such as state and local crime statistics, don’t show the harsh realities they’re experiencing.

The new index will still include traditional measures such as crime data, apprehensions of suspects and contraband seizures, but it will go beyond those to better reflect the effects of illegal immigration and drug trafficking on border towns in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas, Napolitano said.

Don’t raise the bridge. Just lower the water.

    Or

If you don’t like the answer, rephrase the question.

    Axe

Under the new guidelines they will now be measured simply as “Democrats.”

It’s hard to believe that one woman can create this large an obstruction to self preservation and justice in our border states. Measuring and indexing should apply to Patrol uniforms and prisoner lists.

Btw Zip I love that photo. She looks so happy to have an upright, um, gun.

How much will this new indepth “index” cost taxpayers to put together and conduct? This is just busy work to distract from the real problems at the border….and what do we care about special problems facing those in border towns? I’m sure she only means border towns on the Mexico side of the border and not US citizens.

Borders sure were secure form 2001-2009. No illegal immigration at all. All was well with the world.

Maybe this is where Obongo intends to initiate his light rail programs; moving illegals faster across the border and farther into the interior of the US.

Ask ME! I live 55 miles north of El Paso/the border…in New Mexico- the news is this-border is NOT secure. My family is American(yet of Mexican descent)…yet at border patrol checkpoints we are never asked for ID. I would not be offended…isn’t this their job? I know times call for an immediate outcry of racism, but believe me- we are offended that this is not happening. Who do they think is crossing the border illegally? Blonds with blue eyes? ps…guess what we had to show when we registered to vote? (nothing)

We have to pass through border patrol checkpoints at least two times a week-either on our way to El Paso, TX or to Las Cruces, NM.

Studies, schmudies. You don’t have to do a study or change how you look at it. You just have to open your eyes and listen to the sheriffs and border control officers who are in the fight instead of working so hard to hide how your department is NOT DOING IT’S JOB!

Maybe take your grinning self and your gun down there and ride with them for a few days. See if you’re still grinning like a loon when you’re done.

Well, duh. That’s why we didn’t vote for Bush again./

No such thing as illegal immigration. There is immigration, and there is invasion. Bush lifted the environmental “restrictions” on building a border fence, but Congress sure didn’t seem all that motivated in securing the borders and ports. There’s not that much a president can do on his own.

    Janet, honey:

You’re making this waa-aa-ay harder than it needs to be.

Just stop obstructing and BUILD THE DAMN FENCE.

If you had started it in 2009, you’d be about done now.

Stop the lies that the border is more secure than it’s ever been. Stop the make-work and paper-pushing and delays that this damn-fool “comprehensive index” will require.

    *BUILD*

    *DAMN*

    *FENCE*

How much clearer can we make it for you?

It takes a dumbass like Obama to appoint a dumbass like Napolitano to a job she is not qualified for and only screws up.

We need to accept that Napolitano is a moron appointed by a moron and concentrate on getting rid of Obama and Napolitano will disappear in the smoke.

Janet knows if they build the fence she is out of a job and that can’t happen in todays larger then ever Big Government. So her and anyone else who gets in there after 2012 may do the same thing. job security.. isn’t that what the government is all about?

We have to get rid of HLS all of it. we have the FBI,we have Boarder Patrol, we have CIA,SWAT,and a whole host of other first responders.
We do not and will not need HLS.. get them the hell out of our government. and take TSA with you.

Not one of those two organizations are helping make America safer to live in or to fly over;So dismantle and send that she/man packing.
I would feel better having our Military checking people boarding flights at least they know what the enemy looks like.

What we need to do is strictly enforce our immigration laws.

This means coming down hard on companies that employ illegal aliens.

By that I don’t mean just slapping them with a fine, I mean criminal charges.

In addition, we need to get these folks off of welfare.

How are these people allowed to collect benefits without proof of citizenship?

    It should never happen!

Finally we should re-define birthright citizenship for the offspring of illegal parents.

This means that unless at least one parent is a US citizen, or they have green cards, or they are active members of the US Military, they should not be granted birthright citizenship.

If you do all of the above and you do it well, you won’t need to patrol the patrol border that much anymore.

Even if you greatly increase border security, it does absolutely nothing to get rid of the millions of illegals that are already here!

Holy Smokes! “the new index would look at community concerns about environmental damage, economic losses and feelings of personal safety.”

Are you serious? Let’s break this down.

environmental damage: Now the government can get involved (as they already are), restricting the movement of Border Patrol because they might run over a Horny Toad.

economic losses: Less drugs on the street equals less money spent on our economy..huh..right?

feelings of personal safety: You don’t feel safe? Well, we just won’t count you. And by the way, How many weapons do you have in your house? Just curious, ya know?

I never thought that an incompetent administration could inflict this much damage on our Country in so little time.
