Report: Ayman al-Zawahiri Helped Lead U.S. Forces to Bin Laden…

It’s rumored their falling out began when both men fell for the same goat, all’s fair in love and war.

(Daily Mail) — Osama Bin Laden’s deputy led U.S. troops to the Al Qaeda leader’s hideout so he could take over the terrorist group, it was claimed today.

Egyptian Ayman Al Zawahiri, who has been touted widely as the man who will succeed Bin Laden as the head of Al Qaeda, turned his back on his terrorist leader following a prolonged power struggle, according to a Saudi newspaper.

The plot to get rid of Bin Laden began when Zawahiri’s faction persuaded bin Laden to leave the protection of the tribal areas along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

Instead, they convinced him to set up home in Abbottabad, where he was finally killed by U.S. Navy SEALS earlier this week, a regional source told the Al-Watan newspaper.

Zawahiri’s Egyptian ally Saif Al Adel is said to have moved to Pakistan last autumn as Al Qaeda’s ‘chief of staff’ after a period of house arrest in Iran.

With his return, Al Qaeda’s Egyptian faction then hatched a plan to dispose of Saudi-born Bin Laden after irresolvable divisions developed between the terrorist group’s top two men.

‘The Egyptian faction of Al Qaeda is defacto running the organisation now and since he was taken ill in 2004 they have been trying to take full control,’ the paper wrote on Thursday.

The courier who led U.S. forces to Bin Laden was a Pakistani national working for Zawahiri, according to the source.

The man is said to have known he was being followed by American troops and to have intentionally led them to their target.

Who knows? Osama Bin Laden dies and we get the 72 versions.

This is the way a lot of Islamic Clerics (or whatever you would call Bin Laden), get rid of the “Islamic Competition”.

    72 versions haha classic.

Zawahiri was seen as the brains and Osama the dollars behind al qaeda so maybe he got jealous and wanted his due attention. I highly doubt this though. Jihadis who are even a little bit serious would never betray one of their own to the Great Satan. How do you think they have hung out over there for so many years with $25 million bounties and nobody has turned them in?

Are the Saudi’s creating propaganda of their own?

It will be interesting to see what effect this has on the following. So far, it seems like most are missing Bin Laden. This can’t make them too happy with Zawahiri.

Could this be a split-off of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad back off from al-Qaeda?

    ———-

*Note – I haven’t heard anything about EIJ since the 911 report revealed their meeting with Saddam Hussein. (Was it in 1993?) I assume that the whole group was folded into al-Qaeda.

    *Correction*

Oops! It wasn’t the 911 report. It was the declassified Iraqi documents that revealed meetings between Saddam’s government and the Egyptian Islamic Jihad.

    Sorry.

Don’t think so. Those two shitbirds are of the same mind about the US and Israel. Besides, betraying UBF, would be a seen by other jihadists as treachery worthy of a death sentence. Technically he’d be seen as making nice with Christians and Jews. Not a good idea in the dellusional world of Jihadistan if you want to live a bit longer.

If you read the book Holy War Inc., by Peter L. Bergen, one of the incidents he mentions is competing Islamic Clerics at a Mosque in NYC with ties to Terrorism. They got into a “you are a bad muslim” accusation match and one of them ended up dead. Yeah, they have the same ideology, but this is the long history of Islam, muslim on muslim violence and death fatwahs being issued. This is completely consistent with Islam. It’s like the Mafia in so many ways, as mobsters are most likely going to get wacked by other mobsters, so it is with Islam. Sometimes I wonder if the Mafia got some of it’s ideas from Islam?

I think you may be right. Any strife we can generate between factions is a good thing!

“What is becoming clear, following the killing of Osama bin Laden, is that President Obama is fighting the war on terror in a smarter way than we had been. Two huge developments — from the use of key intelligence that came from means that didn’t include torture, to the president’s decision to not release photos of a dead bin Laden — demonstrate a much more deliberate way of fighting this war. In doing so, the president continues to make America safer.”- Ashwin Madia

Charlie’s right on one thing…the information that the Bush administration got from KSM didn’t come from torture, it came from waterboarding.

As for the deliberate way of fighting this war, not sure where that came from…Obama has been anything but deliberate in carrying out any of the three wars we are now engaged in, unless you count the TSA sexual molestation of children, then I guess its deliberate.

Presidunce Ebola isn’t fighting anything except a breeze on the golf course. Going against his muzzie pals is repugnant to him. As for not showing the dead UBL pix, *Ann Coulter had it right on the money:

-Notice, all the people saying we don’t need to see the photos HAVE SEEN the photos.*

    - This wasn’t a personal family tragedy for the Obamas. It was a personal tragedy for the United States. Denying this photo to the survivors of the victims and first responders of 9/11 is the height of arrogance.*

As for my two cents, I vote for making the pix public. The objective of war is to DEMORALIZE the enemy. The muzzies need some demoralization considering the sympathizer they have in the WH! Americans could use an additional morale booster. The 9/11 families should have been granted immediate, full access to those pix as soon as they became available. Then they should’ve gone public.

With the outrage among the SEALs over the way this was handled, speculation is that they’re going to leak them before Zero can use them as a campaign tool next fall when he suddenly decides to make them available. He’s got nothing else to run on. When you get down to it, this wasn’t even attributable to him.

    I knew i stashed it somewhere. :-)

I don’t remember exactly which *.PDF this came from, but this screenshot came from “Captured Iraqi Documents” found at FAS.org. It reports a meeting between Saddam’s government and the Egyptian Islamic Jihad (at that time headed by Ayman Al Zawahiri)
