Dem Rep. Steny Hoyer Asks Colleges and Universities to Indoctrinate Students on Benefits of ObamaCare…

Something tells me liberal academia won’t have a problem with this.
(Baltimore Sun) — Rep. Steny H. Hoyer is asking colleges and universities in his district to add a new item to their curricula: Information about the benefits of the Democrats’ health care overhaul.
“Before health reform became law, more than one-third of all young adults — including those with insurance — were having trouble paying their medical bills, and one-fourth were paying off medical debt,” Hoyer, the No. 2 Democrat in the House, said Thursday in a statement.
“The Affordable Care Act has a number of features that will help those young Americans and provide them with the health and security they deserve. It is important that young people understand and have access to the health coverage they need, so I encourage our colleges and universities to help ensure that they are aware of the new options and resources available to them.”
In a letter Thursday, Hoyer suggested the colleges and universities of the Fifth Congressional District consider placing links on their homepages, distributing flyers along with graduation materials and hosting information sessions about the law.

Dear ——,
As we approach the graduation season, I wanted to follow up on a letter you should have received from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan regarding health care coverage for students.
The recently enacted Affordable Care Act contains a vitally important, immediate improvement in health coverage options for young people under age 26. Thanks to this new law, young people up to age 26 can typically obtain coverage on their parents’ health insurance plan as long as that plan covers dependent children. This option is true regardless of whether they are employed, in school, or living at home. I encourage you to follow up on the secretaries’ advice and ensure that your graduating students – and the entire student body – are aware of this new option for health coverage.
The Administration provided numerous ways to supply this information to your student body. Listed below are those links for your convenience:
- Place a “badge” on the home page of your Website that automatically links to information about how students can remain on their parents’ health insurance plan. Download the badge by visiting: http://www.healthcare.gov/stay_connected.html.
- Distribute a flyer to students and their parents about this new benefit along with graduation materials. Download a sample flyer by visiting:http://tinyurl.com/3ozbmz6
- Encourage staff to talk to students about other insurance options – for example, if their parents do not have coverage — by visiting: www.healthcare.gov/. . . /youngadults.html.
- Host a session to explain insurance options to your students. HHS has helpfully offered to assistance in creating this event and you can email them at: externalaffairs@hhs.gov.
- Encourage students to visit the Administration’s Facebook page with information for young adults and parents about coverage for individuals under age 26. That can be found at: www.facebook.com/youngadultcoverage.
Another excellent resource for your student body is the non-partisan Young Invincibles online tool kit: gettingcovered.org/Toolkit/, which has information tailored specifically to young people. It is searchable by state and explains exactly what the new law means to young people, including how to get on a parent’s insurance policy, what to do if he or she has a pre-existing condition, and how the new law impacts women and young people with cancer.
Working together, we can ensure more students and recent alumni obtain the health coverage they need. Please feel free to contact my office at 202-225-4131, should you have any questions. We appreciate your attention to this important matter.
Wishing you the best during this graduation season and with kindest regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
STENY H. HOYER

Yes. Telling students that they can stay on their parents policy till they are 26, and that Ins. companies can’t drop them for pre existing conditions, or rescind their policy for filing a claim, and the have to spend 80% of premiums on health care, not profits is indoctrination. Only in Wing Nut World.
Hey! Ho-yer, would you support handing out pamphlets of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution?
@jeffy..and why the hell should the tax payers pay for a 26 year old “child” to stay on his mama’s healthcare ? Is thsi what this pussyboy society has become ? Still children at 26. Yes.
I am sure that the college courses are more liberal than they were when I finished school 20 years ago. The funny thing is that a number of the classes I took had some older folks in them who did not have any problem telling the profs that they disageed with the liberal slant and did not appreciate the biased commentary that had nothing to do with the advertised content of the class. It was, at times, rather comical. Picture a 35 or 40 year old prof rebuffing a 60 year old gray haired lady who was not afraid to say she thought his bullshit was, well, bullshit. I know for a fact that teachers promoting Obamacare in my area of the states are very likely to be ridiculed by kids fresh out of high school. Gotta love living in a more conservative area.
Hoyer blowing hot air. He looks like Herman Munster.
What a scumbag .. making all kinds of claims, when he’s just a sock puppet of socialism.
When are we going to stomp these insects into the ground?
Pig.
He doesn’t have to tell them, they’re doing it on their own.
Yes, more indoctrination is necessary at Indoctrination U. Don’t want any student actually graduating with the ability to think for themselves, do their own research or analysis. The leftist borg will not tolerate dissent!!
Stenny should have stuck to chasing ambulences. He was good at that.
Note to Jeffy: When I was 26, I carried my own weight. I didn’t depend on the government for my sustenance. I went out got a blue-collar construction job, and earned enough money to pay my own way. Any lazy-ass kid still dependent on mommie at that age is deserving of a size 10 up their ass right out the door.
Personal accountability requires growing up and breaking free of mommy’s apron strings, not some special exception.
Note to dirt clod and Infidel- The taxpayer and the government are not paying the premiums. The parents are. Remember?
Being dependent on Mommy and Daddy for up to the first 26 years of life sets the up to be dependent on the government for the rest.
Look at bloggers like “jeffro” — it appears he’s in transition.
And who the hell listens to a numb nuts with the name “steny”?
What value do For Profit Insurance companies bring to the table in the health care industry? Points for honest answers….
Remember when this ‘rat called the Bush tax cuts tax increases? That was a real gem.
Big Jake. Dependence?
Kinda like big Pharma and big Oil is dependent on the taxpayers for continued subsidies(oil), and University research on medicine (Pharma)? For MORE than 26 years?
Socialism for Corporate monopolies. And you support it. Don’t wine about socialism when you support it. It makes you look foolish.
And who the hell listens to a numb nuts with the name Big Jake.?
I’d much rather have an insurance provider that I can choose by myself. I don’t want some government entity making that choice for me. Choosing a provider across state lines would make my Insurance needs much less expensive.
The value that I get from my provider is that when I need a gall bladder operation, I don’t have to pay 9,000.00 out of my own pocket. Because I have a group policy, that the group contributes to, my doctor bills are much lower, than they would be if I had to pay for that care out of my own pocket.
And far as government health care is concerned. I saw that shit in the Army. I stood in line for several hours with a 101 tempature. Hurry up and wait is not the way to go when people are in extreme pain or running a high fever. If I had to see my GP, I could have got into his office and saw him right away.
I’m not interested in paying for higher premiums, to finance 26 yr old lazy asses. Nor am I interested in seeing Medicare cut for my older relatives, because some government agency feels that the treatment is too expensive and that they should just go down the hallway to the “death” counselor instead of receiving life-saving treatment.
@jeffro:
“And who the hell listens to a numb nuts with the name Big Jake?”
Certainly not numb nuts like yourself.

@jeffy..and why the hell
Probably cause he’s 34 and still living with Mommy !
Do you fear the Federal Government jeffro (the organization with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, IRS, ICE, FBI, CIA, BATFE, TSA, DOJ……)? Or is it just the corporate monopolies you are worried about?
Pelosi’s little lap dog
“Choosing a provider across state lines would make my Insurance needs much less expensive.”
I keep hearing this from the right. It’s nonsense.
Buying across state lines is a bad idea and I’ll tell you why.
First, there is nothing stopping any insurance company from selling their product in every state in the union. Nothing.
Second. The insurance industry is the only industry besides baseball that has anti trust exemption. If you want insurance companies to compete, a good place to start might be not letting them collude – price fix.
The issue is all about state regulations and lowering insurance companies costs in order to increase profits.
Every state regulates the insurance industry in their state. If you can buy insurance from another state, what you are doing is side stepping your states regulations and consumer protections. What will then happen is that insurance companies will set up shop in the state with non existent regulations. You might pay less, but you will also get less. And again, since insurance companies can legally collude, their is no real competition.
So,What value do they bring to the table in the health care debate?
In Australia when you go to the doctors office they ask you “what is wrong?” In America they ask you ” how are you going to pay for it?” This is what happens when rich people run the country. Money is exploited, poor decisions are made.
They should indoctrinate all of the whoever who’ve gotten waivers. what don’t they know about how great it is?

What do you think? Should we all give him a call and lend our voice about Obamacare?
I wonder if Steny will ask AARP to go around to senior citizen community centers to educate seniors about their choice of pain medication or a nice hot cup of hemlock (with a little splenda to help it go down sweeter)
Anyone who doesn’t see Obamacare as a massive health care redistribution from seniors to the likes of 20 to 26 yo is someone who wants to wear their jammies and sit in mommy and daddy’s basement trolling conservative websites to try and convince others as well as himself that he is not just a lazy piece of shit willing to throw grandma under the bus.
Hey everyone, give Jeffro a break. My guess is his computer crashed and he forgot the URL for the Huffington Post and Daily Kos and then did a serach for websites having to do with zippers and happened to come across WZ
Hey, Stenny….better hurry up. Might just have to cancel those classes pretty soon.
