Kansas Passes Law Banning Insurance Companies From Covering Abortions in Their Health Plans…

Fantastic.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Legislature has voted to prohibit insurance companies from offering abortion coverage as part of their general health plans except when a woman’s life is at risk.

The state House voted 86-30 early Friday in support of a larger bill that included the abortion coverage restrictions. The state Senate passed it Thursday night.

The legislation now goes to Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, who is expected to sign it.

If the bill becomes law, individuals and employers who want abortion coverage would have to buy supplemental policies that cover only abortion.

Is Kanas, one of those 7 other states that only Obama knows about?

Can a state ban abortion funding without banning abortion?

    The approach sounds problematic.

“If the bill becomes law, individuals and employers who want abortion coverage would have to buy supplemental policies that cover only abortion.’

ok. how awkward. as an employer I will have to ask my employees if they want supplemental abortion coverage? “how many abortions do you expect to have while under my employment”.

    Good Lord. {face palm}

With Indiana, that’s two strong anti-abortion measures passed by states in the last week. Excellent.

yeah.. this is a bad idea. This only satisfies those who are already anti abortion. It does not do anything to convince those who support it or are on the fence as to why it needs to be restricted or banned.

I happen to be one of those. Making it harder does not mean making it rarer. I would rather see anti abortionist work on positive solutions, not just simple banning or roadblocks. After all, making laws does not make something go away… hasnt made drugs go away.

This is the point at which they lose me lose me. Wanna end direct or indirect fed funding? Fine. Wanna end direct or indirect State funding? Fine as well. Beyond that, get SCOTUS to overturn Roe v Wade. Seems like pandering to a religious base by politicians.

I think this is proof that those of us who are against abortion, that the fight is worth all these years to continue fighting for the rights of the unborn. Both sides are needed, help for those who have an unwanted pregnancy, and laws that stop the killing of human beings in the womb.

Leigh said she is on the fence, and many are, but the point has always been that those of us who believe abortion is murder of the unborn are morally obligated to stand against this behavior.

don’t think this can stand as, iirc, fed law conflicts (obamacare) as to what can be covered.
    may be wrong though.

bad idea…..i can already hear the coat wires…….bad step for women’s health & rights. It’s fine to stop funding it but to abolish it would be the end of america as we know it.

Fortunately, this law will be tossed out in court for the pandering garbage it is.
