Ron Paul Doubles Down: We Should Have Let The Pakistanis Arrest Bin Laden…

Why does he have so much faith in the Islamist-infested Pakistani security forces? Especially when considering they’ve almost certainly been sheltering him since 9/11.

(Politico) — Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) refused on Sunday to back down from comments last week that the United States should have informed the Pakistani government that American officials knew where Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was hiding.

“Why are we having trouble with the [Pakistani] government, why are we stirring up a civil war in Pakistan? It’s because we’ve been bombing it,” Paul said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The libertarian Paul, who’s running again for the Republican presidential nomination, said his opposition to the U.S. mission to kill bin Laden demonstrates the principles of his non-interventionist foreign policy.

The Obama administration should have relied on the Pakistani government to arrest bin Laden and turn him over to U.S. authorities, Paul said.

If the Pakistanis would’ve arrested Bin-Laden he would have probably gotten some fancy digs and got appointed a cabinet minister or something. For every smart thing Ron Paul says he ends up saying at least five stupid thing in return.

Ron Paul sometimes makes even Dennis Kucinich look almost sane.

how naive is this guy !
    1) they would have tipped him of .
2)if they would have arrested him there is no grounds to hold him in pakistan
3)if they handed him over, the U.S.would have to deal with him.
either way is bad, the way it playe ouit is a lot more elegant.

Ron Paul’s rigid position on to many issues is self defeating. His pronouncements don’t fit what is going on in the real world in a timely manner. At times he comes across like Rip Van Winkle, or it appears he is still trying to board the train to Altoona after it has already left the station.

Terrible picture you used, looks like he is in mid word. Article did not explain his reasoning either, very biased.

The US has worked with Pakistan in the past to catch terrorists. The US ignored Pakistan’s sovereignty, which only helps make that country our enemy even further.

Since Bin Laden’s death there has been a lot of retaliation attacks and death.

Dr. Paul’s foreign policy is to stop giving foreign aid which props up dictators. To pull our troops out of all of the over 130 countries they are deployed in. If we stopped pissing off the world by bombing them and supporting cruel dictators then maybe foreign people would stop caring about the US so much.

Ron Paul views the world like it’s still 1783, (The year he was born I think)

He hasn’t any clue about Islam or the threat it poses. He has some good fiscal ideas & I appreciate his watch dogging of the Fed but beyond that he needs to STFU!

His supporters are nuttier than he is btw.

Why was 9/11 not listed on Bin Laden’s FBI most wanted page? Because there is not enough evidence to connect him to 9/11. No matter how much people want to believe he was connected with the 9/11 attacks, there is still insufficient evidence to support that conspiracy theory. Some people are just too terrified to believe the U.S. government would lie to them. End American Imperialism because it is the single biggest cause of foreign threat to U.S. citizens. The U.S. is NOT the world police/ babysitter. And stop confusing non-interventionism with isolationism. They are not the same thing. Ron Paul 2012!

The real question isn’t whether or not we should have asked Pakistan to arrest Osama or even permission to go in and get him.

The real question is “Is it OK for the President to VIOLATE the Constitution and International law?

If your answer is yes, then you support the use of military kill squads in Ohio, Texas, or any other sovereign state in America. This form of government is NOT a Republic or even Democracy, it is pure unadulterated TOTALITARIANISM…

  19. CapnAngus says:

Ed Smith & Jerry you 2 need to read some history books. (Real Ones)

Who was Charles Martel fighting in Tours?

You don’t seem to understand that Islam has been waging war against non Muslims since the tenth year of Muhammad’s Mission. The Golden Age of Islam began when Muhammad stated using the sword to get his “Point” across.

Why did Ferdinand & Isabella have to reconquer Spain in 1492 & from whom?
Why did Columbus need to find another trade route to the Spice Islands?

I understand you Paulniaks all too well. It’s much easier to invent Imperialist conspiracies than admit that you are just a BUNCH OF COWARDLY BED-WETTERS. Who are afraid to defend a superior civilization.

    But keep this in mind
“A people ashamed of their own culture will not defend it”

Bin Laden was taken down in a method that is likely to breed terrorists for a couple decades. Obama could have diplomatically exploited that to make Pakistan look cooperative, but did not. Obama looked to near-term political gain instead of long-term gain for Americans. No guts.

The long-term gain would have affirmed international law and confirmation. It would have taken guts to cooperate with a few top officials, but it had the best expected success outcome. I feel confident that intel knew who could be trusted and what Pakistan circle could be called cooperation minimizing the operation.

I personally wonder in that case whether the US should ask to do the dead, but I respect and understand Paul’s position. It has its merits. But I think there might be merit in just a few high people knowing.

Obama’s kill is in the context of decreasing respect of the rights of American, of increased extralegal approaches world control, of expanding wars. It represents a growing of executive power that, even in itself, is dangerous to Americans.

His foreign policy ideas are just plain disasterous for America and would be no different than Obama’s ongoing insanity. Make no mistake Paul would abandon Israel and being another useful ignorant idiot concerning Islamic Jihad.

Wow, I stopped counting the logical fallacies in these comments at 14. No wonder the right cannot win any arguments! We don’t need smarter politicians (although Dr. Paul certainly fills that mold) we need smarter voters! You guys are all misinformed blowhards. If you cannot find the plethora of suspected terrorists handed over to U.S. authorities by Pakistan, that is your own faults. If you cannot separate your well-justified hate for Islamic militantism from you lack of understanding regarding foreign policy, whoever you vote for I do not want as my president. If you’re too daft to realize that we ALREADY give more foreign aid to near-east countries than we do Israel, you are a subject of mass idiocy. In the age of nations, revisiting foreign policies inducted during the age of empires is farcical and laughable! You are ALL imperialist scum. You guys are throwbacks to an era of wont simplicity. I wonder when the GOP and its stupid trollery will ever learn. I certainly never grow tired of schooling you little drop-outs.

You people who bash Paul are the most retarded people in the US of A. If you actually understand what Ron Paul preaches you would understand his reasoning behind the Bin Laden capture.

How would you feel if, lets say, China performed a similar act on our soil? How would you react to that? What about the bombs we drop that kill innocent civilians in Pakistan? How would you feel if China bombed parts of our Country that killed innocent civilians? How would you react? Exactly.

This is why people around that world hate us ARROGANT Americans. You people need to wake up, our foreign policy created Terrorism through us policing the world. 700 Military bases in over 130 countries around the world? Wake up!

You Ron Paul haters are the type of people who are afraid of having more freedoms and personal liberties. You love big Government, so they can take care of you instead of you taking care of yourself. You love sending your tax money as aid to other nations, other dictators. I just don’t understand, Mr. Paul preaches and fights against all that, he fights for your freedom, your God given rights. Many of you are blind that our current Government are slowly taking those rights away. They use fear and many are willing to pissing your rights away.

I just don’t understand you RP haters. Are you that afraid of Freedom?
