Because California Isn’t In Bad Enough Shape, State Senate Bill Will Institute Single-Payer Socialized Health Care System…

Commie California is already on the verge of bankruptcy, going to a single-payer healthcare system will seal the deal. Oh, and don’t come looking to us for a bailout.

(McClatchy) — The national debate over health care can be summed up in a bill being debated in Sacramento.

Supporters of Senate Bill 810 say the legislation would be the only way to provide medical coverage for every Californian.

Opponents deride the measure as socialized medicine.

The California Universal Healthcare Act was introduced by Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco. The bill would initiate single-payer universal health care for the state of California, Leno said. “What that means in short is Medicare for all,” he said.

Supporter Keith Ensminger, a Merced resident and owner of Kramer Translations, said the largest benefit of the legislation probably would be that it would include everyone. “Everybody would have insurance, regardless of their income and regardless of their position in life,” he said. “One of the bigger benefits for us is that nobody in the Central Valley would be required to remain poor for Medi-Cal. They would still have their insurance paid.”

Even Moon beam Brown our beloved Governor wouldn’t be stupid enough to support this. If he does, his attempt to get CA close to a balanced budget would be DOA.

I think it is a great move. Please do it. Show us all how it works out okay?

Oh, but should you fail and go belly up – no cash from us – that okay, too?

I’m sure illegals will be covered, given the nature of Sacramexico.

Arnold already tried to do this a couple of years ago.

His plan would charge 50% to the state of California, and 50% to the federal government.

It must be nice to charge up a bunch of stuff and then send someone else the bill.

Hmmm, I wonder if the Los Angeles elite – i.e. Hollywood – would be forced to share the same ‘insurance’ as the homeless wino on the street. If so, wouldn’t that open a few liberal eyes as to how shitty the single payer socialist medical system is.

I think that when the financial roof, finally caves in the rest of the country will be forced by the Feds to bail out California. That will have a cascading effect since the country as a whole is broke and the Lib Dems still pretend that it isn’t.

Kick California out of the club. 49 stars isn’t so bad, but we’ll have to fence it off as it turns into a mexican somalia.

Deep University of California budget cut curb tuition increases. As Californians face foreclosure, unemployment & depressed wages it’s about time that the timid UC Board of Regents & President showed some leadership by curbing UC costs, particularly wages & benefits. The UC system is not untouchable. As a Californian, I don’t care what others earn at private & public universities. If the wages are better elsewhere, UCOP, chancellors, vice chancellors, tenured & non tenured faculty should apply for the positions. If wages keep UC paid employees committed to UC, leave for the better paying job. Talented, ambitious employees will be promoted to the vacancies. The sky will not fall at UC. California suffers from the worst deficit in modern times. UC wages & benefits must reflect California’s ability to pay, not what others are paid. UCOP, campus chancellors, vice chancellors, tenured & non-tenured faculty are replaceable by like or more talented individuals.
What we do to curb tuition increases:
18 percent reduction in UCOP salaries & $50 million cut.
18 percent prune of campus chancellors’, vice chancellors’ salaries.
15 percent trim of tenured faculty salaries, increased teaching load
10 percent decrease in non-tenured faculty salaries, as well as increase research, teaching load
100% elimination of all Academic Senate costs, wages.

A rose bush blooms after pruning.

The UC Board of Regents can show leadership by bridging the trust gap with the public by offering reassurances that UC salaries reflect the depressed wages of California. Everyone is replaceable at the UC system. The sky has not, & will not fall. Californians are reasonable people. Levy no new taxes until an approved balanced budget: let the Governor & Legislature make the tough-minded (not cold hearted) decisions of elected leadership. Then come to the public for specified, continuing or new taxes. Thanking you in advance for your partnership & for standing up for all Californians & University of California system

I agree, it certainly is. Living here in AZ we have seen a fair number of “refugees” who have fled there in recent years. I expect there to be many many more in the future. CA will be a shining example the biggest problem with socialism…… What do you do when you run out of people you can fleece? On the down side, they will be asking for a huge “we-are-to-big-to-be-allowed-to-fail” bailout at some point in the future.

You may look at the premium amount and think that there is no way that you can afford it. You cannot afford to be without health insurance! shop around you may find it easy to find an affordable premium, I always find health insurance through “Penny Health Insurance” network.

Single Payer as described in SB 810 is not socialized medicine because the doctors are not hired by the government. The clinics remain privately owned and Capitalism is put to work in healthcare the way it was intended, where doctors and clinics compete with each other for patients by providing better care, as opposed to the insurance carriers competing with one another by providing less.
