GOP Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman Says Idea Of Border Fence “Repulses” Him…

He’s like a white Barack Obama who for some unknown reason is running as a Republican.

HUNTSMAN: I hate the thought of a fence on the border. I mean, for me, as an American, the thought of a fence, it to some extent repulses me, because it’s not consistent with our overall — the image that we projected from the very beginning to the rest of the world. But the situation is such that I don’t think we have a choice.

The Soros-funded tools on ThinkProgress are smitten:

As ThinkProgress has reported, former Republican Utah Gov. Jon Hunstman has strong progressive streak that he may prefer people forget as he considers pursuing the GOP presidential nomination. On immigration, for example, Huntsman has supported a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants and something akin to the DREAM act, breaking with the nativists who have come to dominate Republican immigration thinking after President Bush’s reform effort collapsed.

What were the people of Utah smoking when they elected Huntsman governor?

Huntsman has been heralded as a possible GOP presidential candidate, but another side of that liberal streak is that he still buys into man made Global Warming. One wonders if he has bought stock in too many green companies and a bank load of carbon credits to boot?

Huntsman is toast. The days of sons of successful people becoming president have drawn to a close. Huntsman is politically connected, that is all. Watch him wither on the vine. He has never accomplished anything. White country clubbers are no longer electable.

OK, in place of a fence, who Huntsman agree to have armed militia stationed along the border with shoot to kill orders? This will stop the invasion from the South, wouldn’t it?

Sometimes we on the right are our own worst enemies….Classic case here. He said “But the situation is such that I don’t think we have a choice.”

What do we focus on like rabid dogs? The fact he dislikes the idea.

Well, I hate the idea as well. I Love the open border between the US and Canada and how freely we and the Canadians can cross. I would be heartbroken if we ever had a fence.

Somedays, I see Obama Term 2 simply due to the sheer craziness of the republican/conservative voters.

I hate the idea of a fence with Mexico but just as Huntsman said, we have no choice.

Opposition is being splintered in order to ensure the reelection of Obama. If we can’t unify in order to defeat Obama we will have no one to blame but ourselves for what his next term will bring. I have certainly not seen a unifying figure put forth, by the Obama opposition, yet. Not that I expect any human to do any of us any good whatsoever and even if one did, a good little lifetime here won’t mean squat for the evermore we face.

Canadians never were crawling over the border looking for welfare and causing crime. Americans never were crawling over the border looking for welfare and causing crime.

No fence was needed, but there’s one up now and you need a passport, that is the benefit of multiculturalism and immigration.

    Time to say, No vacancy

who gets hassled at the southern and northern border? Whites. CLOSE THE DAMN THING. Many of these mexicans are criminal and a danger to the country. They hate you gringos. Terrorists are crossing on the southern border also. And it appears that mexican drug cartel are adopting the same techniques of terrorists…namely beheadings and they have no respect for any life.

I don’t mind feeling repulsed by the IDEA of a fence–note that he admits that it is necessary.

I would support a fence, but I still would feel a bit uncomfortable at the underlying racist undertones–after all, no one is suggesting a fence at the Canadian border. The problem is while a fence might deter a poor Mexican, it won’t stop a determined jihadist.

“I hate the thought of a fence on the border.”

“But the situation is such that I don’t think we have a choice.”

    ——–

So he’s both ‘for’ and ‘against’ a border fence????

The “image that we projected from the very beginning to the rest of the world” was an image of means, not of ends. The rule of law is what made the United States what it is. The fact that those rules apply to everyone in the same way, THAT is the reason for our success, and THAT is our appeal.

“…..nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Feudalism has been making people miserable for as long as there have been people. It doesn’t limit the destructiveness of feudalism to call it by a new name; Socialism.

The very premise of Socialism is a lie! There is no way to create a classless society by dividing up a community into racial, economic, and ethnic classes. The only reason to divide ‘Equals’ into separate classes is to create a different set of rules for each group. It is a corruption of the very thing that made the USA what it is.

Socialists, Progressives, and John Huntsman, measure all things according to ‘The Ends’. To them, “the ends justify almost any means” (Alinsky). To them, scoring a goal is more important than following any rules.

No fence was ever an impassible barrier. Whether or not a barrier can be breached should not be the reason for it’s existence.

There is a fence between my neighbor’s and my own yard. I’ve climbed it many times. I see no reason to tear out the fence posts now that the fence has proven to be ‘climb-able’. The purpose of all fences is to deter people from crossing territory lines at arbitrary locations, and encourage them to pass through at gates.

Im sure he IS a RINO, so dont take this wrong, but in all honesty, the man is being taken out of context here.

    He said:
“But the situation is such that I don’t think we have a choice.”

I dont think ANY American really wants some big ol ugly fence along our borders, in an IDEAL WORLD. Thats what hes saying, is that its not what we would prefer, given a choice. Im sure wed like to have the borders secured without a damn fence.
Like if some man breaks into your house with evil intent. You didnt go to bed that night WANTING to shoot someone (at least most sane people dont!) But you were given NO CHOICE.

But we HAVE TO build one. To quote Hussein Hopenchange: Im sure we want a moat, with alligators. I know I do.
I also want sharks with frickin lasers.
But its sad that we have to go this route.

  37. MN Jim says:
    May 24, 2011 at 1:03 pm

Although I’ve never heard of Huntsman, and wonder why we would want a white obama, the GOP needs to pick their best candidate and gather behind him or her. MN had two recent major elections where the GOP primary loser ran as third-party and we ended up electing Democrats with only 40% of the vote (Al Franken and Mark Dayton). Well, that plus a dose of election fraud, which the news media pretty much ignored.
