Romney Says Obama Stole His Idea to Bail Out Auto Companies…

Huh?

WASHINGTON — The recovery of the American auto industry, which repaid a significant part of its debt to the federal government on Tuesday, has sparked a political battle over who deserves credit and who deserves blame.

On the day that Chrysler wrote a check repaying $5.1 billion to theUnited States Treasury, President Obama and his Democratic allies claimed credit for saving a crucial industry in Michigan, a state that will be a critical battleground in the 2012 presidential election.

“Supporting the American auto industry required making some tough decisions,” Mr. Obama said in a statement, “but I was not willing to walk away from the workers at Chrysler and the communities that rely on this iconic American company.”

Democrats also sought to highlight past statements from Mr. Obama’s likely Republican rivals, who had criticized the president for a federal bailout that they said was unnecessary and wasteful.

The Democratic National Committee on Tuesday released a YouTube video highlighting a 2008 opinion article by Mitt Romney in The New York Times titled “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” In the video, Mr. Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts, is shown asserting, “If you write a check, they are going to go out of business.”

In 2009, Mr. Romney said Mr. Obama’s plans for rescuing the automobile industry were “tragic” and “a very sad circumstance for this country.”

A Romney spokesman said on Tuesday that the president’s plan was modeled after one Mr. Romney advocated in 2008.

“Mitt Romney had the idea first,” said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney spokesman, citing the Times opinion article. “You have to acknowledge that. He was advocating for a course of action that eventually the Obama administration adopted.”

Because it’s worked out so well.

Hey, he was ahead of Zero on mandated Communist medicine, too.

Take a bow, Mittens, you visionary.

“The recovery of the American auto industry, which repaid a significant part of its debt to the federal government ”
-Is a damned lie. GM simply became a money laundering operation for the democrat party. 50+ billion in tax payer money put in, 5 billion “Paid back” to the tax payer and then endless donations being made to the democrat party. This is a crime, and they get away with it.

Since the union owns Chrysler, I am sure that this pawlty sum in no way comes close to depleting their coffers. Just up the ante on dues and that sum can be made back up in no time.

Romney will not get my vote in the primary. If it comes down to Romney vs Obama, I will just have to hold my nose like I did when I voted for McCain.

And he wants the GOP vote? Might as well leave Waldo at the helm!

I hope this little stunt by Romney puts Herman Cain far ahead in the Lead in the Republican Polls. Then again, the Polling Places seem to be only polling Democrats in all their areas. That is why Obama’s Numbers are so High. If they performed a Real Poll with Real Americans, Obama would be hovering around 5%.

Please Mittens Romney, keep showing America what a RINO you really are.

Nothing. Sit it all out. It is waaaaaaay past time to stand on principle and stop voting for whoever the GOP says we should. The country will survive, or not.

    Word.

Uhm, we, the American people, we were for letting them declare bankruptcy, and uhm, no bailouts. We, the American people, we the voters, we thought bailouts were a really bad deal. So, why in the name of all things political would anyone hoping to be POTUS stake a claim upon WANTING a bailout? Of any kind?

Beyond the political idiocy of this, it has a whiny tinge. It has a smallishness about it that somehow I am thinking several other candidates do not have. Go away Mittens!

As to Mark’s trouble, Romney v. Gingrich, I am going Gingrich. Thinking at least 50% chance of a more Conservative solution than what Mittens has produced so far. At least Newt has at times stepped up and taken a swipe at The One. Not hearing that from Mittens yet. Newt has articulated some Conservative principles WAY better than Mittens. So far. I reserve the right to change my opinion. LOL!

Mitt will need plastic surgery soon. He has his right foot stuck in his mouth over Romneycare and now has his left foot stuck in it over “I was first on the auto bail out”. If you look at where all of his money to run is coming from it is a small group of Wall Street buddies. The little people will NEVER contribute onc cent to this Barbie doll!

Oh God, please no. We don’t need McCain-lite. Do we have to have another out-of-touch RINO instead of someone with ordinary common sense? Is that too much to ask?

He’d probably be better than Obama, but that’s the only plus the guy has. Otherwise, I suspect a Romney presidency will have me pulling my hair out.

Those of you who would even consider the possibility of sitting out the 2012 election make me want to scream. There is absolutely no possibility of the United States of America surviving a second Obama term. Indeed, I’m holding my breath that we’ll even make it to January 20, 2013, without a major terrorist attack, a total economic collapse, the race warfare in the streets that Bill Ayers and Frances Fox Piven so desperately want to see, and/or the declaration of martial law.

People who would even entertain the possibility of sitting out the election make me want to puke. Shame on you.
