Poland: Legendary Anti-Communist Hero Lech Walesa Refuses to Meet With Obama…
He knows a pinko commie rat when he sees one.
WARSAW (AFP) – Lech Walesa, Poland’s Solidarity-era legend, ex-president and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday he would not accept an invitation to meet with fellow Nobel winner US President Barack Obama.
“It’s difficult to tell journalists what you’d like to say to the president of a superpower. This time I won’t tell him, I won’t meet him, it doesn’t suit me,” Walesa told Poland’s public broadcaster TVP.
Obama is due to arrive in Poland later Friday after the G8 summit in France.
Walesa was originally scheduled to meet Obama Saturday along with other key figures in Poland’s post-1989 transition from communism to democracy.
According to sources close to Walesa, he was expecting a personal invitation from Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 shortly after taking office.

I have never before been so proud to be Polish. I have always admired their work ethic and resolve, but now I am fiercely proud to be counted among them. God bless Poland and America. The Polish have lonnnnnnnnnng memories. I bet not attending the funerals of their government and selling them out to Russia also contributed to this decision.
Walesa spent half of his life fighting against people like Obama, so good on him.

I’m a bit confused is he not meeting with him because he thinks he’s a jerk or did he get his nose bent out of shape because he did not receive some special invite and one on one with Obama? If thats the case then he’s a jerk and we give him too much credit:

Dirtclod, even though he said he expected a meeting with Obama back in 2009, I don’t think this snub directly relates to that snub. Keep in mind that Walesa has had 2 more years to observe the type of leader Obama is, and he realizes that he shouldn’t have been surprised at Obama’s snub 2 years ago. Walesa had mistakenly given Obama the benefit of the doubt back then.

Probably not. Both men condemned the actions in Belarus (Walesa’s support goes back to at least 2005), which only shares a tiny border with Poland, so that’s hardly going to be a deal breaker between the two.
As Zip said, anyone who’s spent their life fighting for freedom from communists probably isn’t going to be eager to hang out for tea and crumpets with commie pinkos like the zero.
