GOP Sen. Jim DeMint Goes Off: Obama Has Stocked NLRB With “Union Thugs”…

“It’s pretty amazing in America that we’re dealing with this type of third world tyranny.”

(Weekly Standard) — Senator Jim DeMint, R-S.C., sat down for an interview with Coffee and Markets, a podcast hosted by Brad Jackson and Ben Domenech. When asked about the National Labor Relations Board’s attempt to keep Boeing from building a factory in his state, DeMint had some exceptionally harsh words for the NLRB:

DeMint: I mean, they’ll lose the first couple of appeals because they go back to the board that the President has stocked with union thugs basically, and –

Cianfrocca: “Union thugs”, may we quote you? That’s a great word.

DeMint: Once this gets in front of a fair and impartial judge they’ll win, but it’s only after millions of dollars in legal expenses and several years of chilling effect.

Cianfrocca: Yes.

DeMint: What they’re trying to do is to tell any company in America, don’t even think about moving to a right to work state or expanding to a right to work state or you’re going to have to go through millions of dollars of legal expenses and this type of government harassment. It’s pretty amazing in America that we’re dealing with this type of third world tyranny.

Sarah Palin to Participate in DC Rolling Thunder Rally…

Very cool.

(ABC News) - For the riders of Rolling Thunder, the news that Sarah Palin will participate in their national rally on Sunday came as a surprise. A welcome surprise.

“I think that’s wonderful,” said Gerri Tramel, president of one of Rolling Thunder’s Tennessee chapters. “Anybody that’s involved — Republican, Democrat, independent, whatever — if you’re involved with our veterans, I think that’s wonderful. Not just Sarah Palin — anyone that’s a politician.”

For more than 20 years, as many as half a million motorcycle riders from across the country have descended on Washington, D.C., during Memorial Day weekend to raise awareness about prisoners of war and those missing in action. Rolling Thunder announced Thursday that Palin accepted an invitation to participate in its May 29 rally. She’ll kick off her One Nation Tour the same day, a bus trip along the northeast coast that aims “to educate and energize Americans about our nation’s founding principles.”

Asked how Palin came to be involved with the rally, Rolling Thunder spokeswoman Nancy Regg said, “I honestly don’t know.”

“I’m not the person that invited her,” she said. “We send letters to people all the time and invite them. We invited her to ride, she has accepted and she and her husband have both agreed to ride for us.”

Regardless of Palin’s political agenda — the “Will she or won’t she?” fervor over her potential presidential run reached new heights this week — the members of Rolling Thunder agreed her participation is a boon.

“If she wants to support the troops, we’re all for it,” said Greg Benson, president of Rhode Island’s Rolling Thunder chapter.

“I certainly welcome any positive publicity surrounding our cause, anything to bring attention to POWs and MIAs,” said Jeffrey Stewart, who leads a Rolling Thunder chapter in New Hampshire, a state that will be crucial to Palin if she runs in 2012. “Whether it’s a celebrity or a politician-celebrity — I’m not exactly sure what she is right now — having Sarah Palin there means more people will be paying attention to our cause.”

LA Times Columnist: Obama Stammers Because He’s So Damn Intelligent…

All those  ”umms” and “uhhhs” aren’t the product of a man who can’t speak without the aid of a teleprompter, it’s the result of his gigantic brain overpowering his mouth or something.

(LA Times) – Apparently, a lot of people consider President Obama to be bumblingly inarticulate. “The guy can’t talk his way out of a paper bag!” a reader wrote to me recently. “Sarah Palin is a brilliant speaker. It’s the president whose sentences are undiagrammable,” said another in response to a column I wrote about Palin. It’s not just my readers, nor is it exclusively conservatives, who hold this view. A Google search of “does Obama have a speech impediment” turns up several pages of discussion among the president’s supporters and critics alike.Admittedly, the president is given to a lot of pauses, “uhs” and sputtering starts to his sentences. As polished as he often is before large crowds (where the adjective “soaring” is often applied to his speeches), his impromptu speaking frequently calls to mind a doctoral candidate delivering a wobbly dissertation defense.

But consider this: It’s not that Obama can’t speak clearly. It’s that he employs the intellectual stammer. Not to be confused with a stutter, which the president decidedly does not have, the intellectual stammer signals a brain that is moving so fast that the mouth can’t keep up. The stammer is commonly found among university professors, characters in Woody Allen movies and public thinkers of the sort that might appear on C-SPAN but not CNN. If you’re a member or a fan of that subset, chances are the president’s stammer doesn’t bother you; in fact, you might even love him for it (he sounds just like your grad school roommate, especially when he drank too much Scotch and attempted to expound on the Hegelian dialectic!).

Bawney Fwank Says Republicans “Act Like Thugs”…

Republicans must be doing something right.

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Senate Republicans have“acted like thugs” in threatening to prevent a prominent consumer advocate – or anyone else – from heading a new consumer-protection agency.

Frank, the senior Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, criticized Republicans’ vows to hold up the confirmation process until their concerns with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are addressed.

President Obama is eyeing Elizabeth Warren – a Harvard academic who has long championed the creation of a stand-alone consumer-protection bureau – to head the agency when its work begins on July 21. But Republicans have threatened to gum up the confirmation proceedings until the bureau’s powers are curtailed.

GOP Rep. Tom Graves Questions Legality of Obama Using an Autopen to Sign Patriot Act Extension…

Silly man, everyone knows laws don’t apply to Barack Obama.

Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.) is questioning President Obama’s use of an autopen in signing an extension of the Patriot Act.

In a letter Friday, Graves asks Obama to confirm that he saw the law prior to its autopen signing.

“Mr. President, I write to request your confirmation that S. 990, as passed by Congress, was presented to you prior to the autopen signing, as well as a detailed, written explanation of your Constitutional authority to assign a surrogate the responsibility of signing bills passed into law,” Graves wrote.

Obama signed the bill into law late Thursday night. The autopen was used because the president was in France, meeting with G8 leaders, and the bill’s provisions expired at midnight.

CNN Poll: If Rudy Giuliani Runs He’d Be In Instant Three-Way Tie For First With Romney And Palin…

I think this seals the deal, he will run.

(The Hill) – Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (R) could have a significant impact on the Republican primary field if he chooses to run, a poll released Friday showed.

A CNN/Opinion Research survey showed Giuliani, who ran a failed presidential campaign in 2008, statistically tied with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) in a hypothetical match-up. Giuliani received 16 percent support from Republicans, Romney got 15 percent and Palin received 13 percent.

The poll can be seen as a testament to the unsettled nature of the Republican field of candidates looking to unseat President Obama in 2012.

Romney is seen as the presumptive front-runner, but many Republican activists appeal unsatisfied with the current crop and are waiting for a dark-horse to jump into the race.

Overall, 61 percent of Republican voters say they are satisfied with he current crop of candidates while 39 percent say they are unsatisfied.

Giuliani has not yet said whether he intends to run. But his close political ally, Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.), said this week that he is “very close to running.”

Texas GOP Gov. Rich Perry Gives Strongest Hint to Date He’s Considering Running For President…

I can only imagine GOP bigwigs, donors, etc. have seen the current field and are shitting bricks thinking none of these guys can beat Obama and are applying pressure on Perry to throw his hat in the ring.

(Ballot Box) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said he will consider running for president in 2012.

Perry had previously taken himself out of contention for the Republican nomination but he has been walking back on that in recent days.

His comments on Friday were the strongest to date.

“I’m going to think about it” when the Texas legislature adjourns on Monday, Perry said, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Most consider the GOP primary field to be set, but several Republicans have expressed unhappiness with their choices, prompting speculation a dark horse candidate could enter the race.

Perry’s name has been one that’s come up, which he seemed to acknowledge in an interview Thursday.

I already have the compare and contrast pics ready:

Lefty Behemoth Rosie O’Donnell: Deadly Joplin Tornadoes Caused by Global Warming

How do you respond to such stupidity?

It’s hard to find a reason that is not environmentally centered, that [doesn't have] something to do with global warming or what the planet is going through. The amount of tornadoes…it’s like three times the highest amount ever before, right? Something weird is happening with all of these natural catastrophes.

DNC Chief Wasserman Schultz: “Let No Man or Woman Bear False Witness Against a Democrat”…

We should be thanking God for Wasserman Schultz, her non-stop verbal diarrhea is going to come back and bite the Dems in the ass.

(Daily Caller) — Before her latest political flub in which she called Republicans “anti-women” with an agenda equivalent to “a war on women,” new Democratic Party chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz managed to politicize one of the Ten Commandments.

In a May 4 DNC chair speech, Wasserman Schultz took the Bible’s Ninth Commandment, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor,” onto the political battlefield, asking her fellow Democrats to pledge they would “let no man or woman bear false witness against a Democrat.”

The speech was Wasserman Schultz’s first as DNC chair, and an attempt to galvanize her political base. She spoke of how she beat “the good ole boys” in the Democratic Party to rise to chair spot.

Wasserman Schultz’s use of inflammatory rhetoric made headlines again on Thursday after she told reporters “it’s just so hard” for her “to grasp how they [Republicans] could be so anti-women as they are.” She went on to say the GOP’s “war on women” would help Democrats pick up large gains in the next election, which she is set to oversee for the party.

Syrian Protesters Burn Pictures of Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah…

Somehow da Jooos are behind this, I just know it.

AMMAN – Syrian security forces fired at two protests in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor on Friday as demonstrations demanding the removal of President Bashar Assad swept the tribal area, residents and activists said.

In the city of Albu Kamal on the Iraqi border, protesters burned pictures of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, whose speech in Beirut this week in support of Assad infuriated demonstrators, activists and a tribal leader in the province told Reuters by phone, adding security forces had withdrawn from the streets of Albu Kamal.

Nasrallah said on Wednesday most Syrians still backed President Bashar Assad and the removal of his regime on the back of mass unrest would serve U.S. and Israeli interests.

The Syrian and Iranian-backed ally said he believed Assad was serious about making reforms, in response to pro-democracy protests that have gripped the country for nine weeks and which have presented the gravest challenge to Assad’s 11-year rule.

Chicago Man Says He Wanted to Avenge Islam by Attacking Publisher of Mohammed Cartoons, Would Earn Him a Grave Near the “Prophet” Mohammed’s…

The never ending cartoon jihad.

(CHICAGO) — Not long after his schemes led to the deaths of more than 160 people in Mumbai in 2008, David Headley had a dream.

It was early 2009 and he envisioned the Prophet Mohammed’s tomb, with his own final resting place “not next to the prophet’s grave itself, but a little distance away.”

Mr. Headley, now 50, concluded that his vision meant great heavenly rewards awaited him – if he were successful in a new attack. The plan?

Get gunmen to shoot up the Denmark offices of Jyllands Posten, so that he could avenge Islam against the newspaper that affronted God’s messenger with a cartoon.

So testified Mr. Headley in a Chicago court Thursday, where the 50-year-old convicted terrorist is giving evidence against a peripheral player, Tahawwur Rana, to save himself from the death penalty.

Michelle Obama Calls Radical Leftist Rapper “Common” Who She Invited to White House “Very Cute”…

Bizarre.

Via American Thinker:

The First Lady is not content with corrupting American children at the White House. In a Q&A with British high school girls at Oxford University Michelle continued to promote the rapper Common.

And then we had a poetry night and Common was there. He’s very cute. But everybody from poet laureates to hip-hop folks, being able to mix up the world in that very interesting way, the White House allows you to do that.

A bitter Michelle can’t help getting a dig in about “the White House” allowing her to “mix up the world.” (Did she really go to Princeton?)

DNC Chief Wasserman Schultz Calls Republicans “Hardcore Radicals”…

Communist-Sympathizer-in-Chief unavailable for comment.

(ABC News) — Six months after Republicans regained control of the House of Representatives, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz thinks voters have seen enough and are ready to return Democrats to power.
“The election results of the past two weeks of special elections really bode well for Democrats chances up and down the ticket in 2012,” the Florida congresswoman told reporters today.

The election last week of an African-American Democratic mayor in Jacksonville, Fla., a staunchly conservative city; a Democratic state representative in a conservative New Hampshire district; and a Democratic U.S. representative from the solidly-red 26th district of New York are all indicators Democrats have momentum, she said.

“All of those elections turned on the hardcore, radical, right-wing agenda that the Republicans have given us a preview of if they were given total control of all branches of government,” Schultz said. “And the voters have resoundingly rejected those overtures, their agenda.”

Yemen: Anti-Regime Fighters Allied With Islamist Party Seize Military Compound From Government Troops…

More from the “Arab Spring.”

SANAA (Reuters) - Yemeni tribesmen said they wrested a military compound from elite troops loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh outside the capital Sanaa on Friday as increased fighting threatened to tip the country into civil war.

Yemeni fighter jets could be heard breaking the sound barrier as they swooped over the capital, the scene of fighting between forces loyal to Saleh and the rival Hashed tribe led by Sadeq al-Ahmar, close to the Islamist opposition party Islah.

Tribes outside the capital said they were also fighting government troops at two other military bases.

…Tribal leader Sheikh Hamid Asim told Reuters his fighters killed the base’s military commander and a separate tribal source said the Yemeni air force dropped bombs to prevent the tribesmen from seizing an arms cache at the site.

Further bombing sorties by the air force could be heard near Sanaa during the course of the day.

If confirmed, the Republican Guard’s loss of a military compound to tribesmen with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades would be an embarrassing setback for Saleh, whose security forces have been drawn into pitched street fighting in the capital this week that has killed nearly 100 people.

Flashback: Obama Claims His Commitment to Israel’s “Defensible Borders” is “Unshakable”…

Then again, nobody believed him when he said it.

(CNSNews.com) - It was nearly 3 years ago, June 4th, 2008 when then-Senator Barack Obama told the American Israel Political Affairs Committee Annual Policy Conference (AIPAC) in Washington, D.C., that he would be “unshakeable” in his commitment to Israel’s security.

“I will bring to the White House an unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security,” Obama told the crowd.

“That starts with ensuring Israel’s qualitative military advantage. I will ensure that Israel can defend itself from any threat — from Gaza to Tehran. Defense cooperation between the United States and Israel is a model of success, and must be deepened.”

“The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper — but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided,” Obama added.

That “unshakeable” commitment to Israel’s has now been followed by a controversial May 19th, 2011 U.S. State Department address from President Obama.

“We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state,” Obama said.

Among those critical of the president’s recommendation is Israel’s prime minister. Benjamin Netanyahu says his country cannot return to the boundaries it held before the 1967 Mideast war.

Netanyahu claims that such lines are “indefensible.”

Obama’s Latest Appointee . . . A TV Network President . . .

Reward for a job well done (hyping Dear Leader).

(Jim Geraghty/NRO) — A PR firm informs me, “Today President Obama announced the members of the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, which includes Cesar Conde — president of Univision Networks.”

. . . Will every story on Obama on Univision news programs include the disclosure that Conde is now, officially, an Obama appointee? Probably not. Perhaps no real harm to Univision’s reputation will come from Conde’s service, and perhaps he’ll do great things on this commission. But this, added to the number of reporters who left journalism to join the Obama administration, blurs even further the line between the administration and the people who cover them.

Poland: Legendary Anti-Communist Hero Lech Walesa Refuses to Meet With Obama…

He knows a pinko commie rat when he sees one.

WARSAW (AFP) – Lech Walesa, Poland’s Solidarity-era legend, ex-president and 1983 Nobel Peace Prize winner said Friday he would not accept an invitation to meet with fellow Nobel winner US President Barack Obama.

“It’s difficult to tell journalists what you’d like to say to the president of a superpower. This time I won’t tell him, I won’t meet him, it doesn’t suit me,” Walesa told Poland’s public broadcaster TVP.

Obama is due to arrive in Poland later Friday after the G8 summit in France.

Walesa was originally scheduled to meet Obama Saturday along with other key figures in Poland’s post-1989 transition from communism to democracy.

According to sources close to Walesa, he was expecting a personal invitation from Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 shortly after taking office.

Dem Rep. James Clyburn: I Never Blamed “Racism” For Obama’s Problem, I Merely Said It Was Because Of The Color Of His Skin…

Quick, everyone look in the mirror and check if “dumbass” is stamped on your forehead, because it’s apparent that’s what Clyburn thinks we are.

WASHINGTON — House Assistant Democratic Leader Jim Clyburn objected Thursday to coverage of his views on the impact of President Barack Obama’s race on assessments of his performance in the White House.

In a letter to the editor of The State newspaper in Clyburn’s hometown of Columbia, S.C., the No. 3 House Democrat said an article published Thursday had sensationalized his perspectives on the ties between Obama’s race and his work as president.

“I have always abhorred the word ‘racism,’ ” Clyburn said in the letter. “I never use it. I believe it is a lethal term, and I am offended that my honest responses to a reporter’s clearly designed agenda would be distorted in such a manner.”

The article was published in The State, in other South Carolina newspapers and on dozens of McClatchy and non-McClatchy websites around the country.

There were more than 1,100 comments about the article within 24 hours of its posting on www.mccclatchydc.com and more than 450 comments on www.thestate.com in the same period.

“You know, I’m 70 years old,” the article quoted Clyburn as saying. “And I can tell you; people don’t like to deal with it, but the fact of the matter is, the president’s problems are in large measure because of his skin color.”

Clyburn then described hateful mail, phone calls and faxes he receives as the highest-ranking African-American in Congress. He suggested that Obama receives similar materials.

Obama Uses “Autopen” Machine to Sign Patriot Act in Washington… While He’s 3,700 Miles Away in Bed in a French Hotel…

Plausible deniability?

(Daily Mail) — President Obama, or rather a machine impersonating his signature, signed the controversial Patriot Act only minutes before the midnight deadline, extending anti-terrorism measures enacted in the wake of 9/11.

Mr Obama did not sign the act personally as he was 3,725 miles and six time zones away in France at a meeting of G8 world leaders, so a presidential autopen was used instead.

The White House said the President had approved use of the autopen, a machine which holds a pen and signs his actual signature.

Mr Obama was awoken at 5:45am in his hotel room in Deauville, France, so that he could review and approve the bill and authorise his signature, with only minutes to go before the deadline passed in the U.S.
