UN Treaty Looks To Gut Americans’ Second Amendment Rights…
Thank God for checks and balances because if Obama was left to his own devices he’d ratify this in a heartbeat.
(Forbes) — It may not come as surprising news to many of you that the United Nations doesn’t approve of our Second Amendment. Not one bit. And they very much hope to do something about it with help from some powerful American friends. Under the guise of a proposed global “Small Arms Treaty” premised to fight “terrorism”, “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates” you can be quite certain that an even more insidious threat is being targeted — our Constitutional right for law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.
What, exactly, does the intended agreement entail?
While the terms have yet to be made public, if passed by the U.N. and ratified by our Senate, it will almost certainly force the U.S. to:
- Enact tougher licensing requirements, creating additional bureaucratic red tape for legal firearms ownership.
- Confiscate and destroy all “unauthorized” civilian firearms (exempting those owned by our government of course).
- Ban the trade, sale and private ownership of all semi-automatic weapons (any that have magazines even though they still operate in the same one trigger pull — one single “bang” manner as revolvers, a simple fact the ant-gun media never seem to grasp).
- Create an international gun registry, clearly setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.
- In short, overriding our national sovereignty, and in the process, providing license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.
Have no doubt that this plan is very real, with strong Obama administration support. In January 2010 the U.S. joined 152 other countries in endorsing a U.N. Arms Treaty Resolution that will establish a 2012 conference to draft a blueprint for enactment. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pledged to push for Senate ratification.

The thing I find disturbing about the UN “treaty” is that not only would Obama sign it in a New York second, there is a significant portion of the U.S. population, in the urban areas, that agree with that– due to the “culture” that’s literally forced on people from every corner of urban society– goverment, education, corporate & institutional employment, that discourages private gun ownership– that’s why they want literally everybody to be lumped together in these urban areas, complete with government-run camera network, as well as Patriot Act policies, to make sure everyone is “compliant”.
Well, U & R, it makes me nervous to read an article like this knowing history and knowing what The Zero is capable of. But it does seem to me that the “authorities” who would be collecting our guns might hesitate if the gun they came to collect was pointed at them and fully loaded. Still, how many Americans who own guns have mentally prepared themselves for such a possibility? How many people on this site know what they would do if the police or a member of Obama’s “youth army” came to their door and demanded their guns? Would you shoot them? Barricade yourself and your family in your house? Flee? These are questions we need to answer now.

Let me ask you guys your opinion on this. I took the concealed permit class back in March but have hesitated to go ahead and get it because it seems to me that once you have your CC permit then the government knows who you are. I have a client who is a Black Hawk pilot who took me out for some shooting practice and when I talked to him yesterday of my concerns he said to go ahead and get it, that the government isn’t powerful enough to take our guns away. I don’t agree. We have the most powerful military on the planet and if they were forced to go against the citizens of this country I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be any match for them. But being a former military wife and knowing a lot of guys that are and were military they’ve assured me the military would never turn on us. I lean towards that belief but when a guy who’s been in for eighteen years is faced with following an order or losing his retirement pay that he’s worked so hard for and has a family to consider, which way will he go?
I’m not losing sleep over this, just thinking out loud. What do you guys think?
Time to defund & deconstruct the federal government. Disperse ANY surviving agencies throughout the country, away from Washington DC. Eliminate the employment status of 30% of ALL federal employees, distributed as 80% of the SES (Senior Executive Service), 45 % of the GS 15 – 18s, 30% of GS 10 – 14s, and 20% of the rest. Thanks Fubar, but I didn’t really do anything, except bring up my kids by myself when hubby left and one just graduated from Virginia Tech a few weeks ago so I guess I feel pretty good about that.
On the subject of ammo, it crossed my mind that owning a lot of it would probably be a good idea because if things got really bad down the road you could trade some for a loaf of bread. Like the light bulbs I’ve been buying and stocking away, if it comes down to not being able to get them I’ll be prepared. A lot of the guys I know who value their 2nd Amendment rights have told me that their next goal is to buy a shell reloader so they can make their own ammunition. That seems like a very good idea and seems to me that anyone who had one of those and knew how to make more ammo would be a very popular fellow if it ever all hit the fan. I don’t know though; that is a bit overwhelming for me right now.

@Isabella – My daughter is currently serving in the military, and I also do not think that the military (at least not the Army or Marines) will turn against us. I used to think that the police would not do so, but sad to say and based upon some of the police non-activity I have seen in the last few years coupled with the harassment of good guys, I am not so sure about all the police departments out there.

Well ThomNJ, the police departments across our country have been infiltrated by CAIR. Their m.o. is to have a Muslim or Muslims join the force and then start agitating for the right to live as a Muslim, for example, demanding they be allowed to keep their beards even though it it against the department’s regulations because a gas mask will not properly attach to the officer’s face. Then when the P.D. says no, CAIR sues the department and any other non-Muslim officer’s involved. This happened near me in Northern Virginia. As an ACT! for America member I was asked to get involved and support another police officer who was being sued by CAIR for pulling over a Muslim doctor. I went to court when he did and luckily the docket was so full that we had to wait until the afternoon and got a different judge, one that is a Constitutional scholar who saw right through the doctor’s whiny B.S. and didn’t give him a pass. Because we had to wait for two hours I got to talk to the officer and he introduced me to a detective and those guys spilled the beans on the nonsense that was going on in their P.D., things like the rightful police chief being passed over in favor of someone who bends over for CAIR and the Higgin’s Training (that teaches police officers how to spot and counteract terrorism, which those guys told me was really good and thorough,) being dumped in favor of CAIR “Muslim sensitivity” training. (As if the only people who live here are Muslims.)
I’ve been told by people in the anti-jihad community that most police departments in the U.S. have been infected. John Guandolo and E.J. Kimball have a wonderful presentation on how CAIR has been able to do this. First a jihadi gets all gussied up in a suit and tie and approaches a police officer or a military commander. After lots of smiles and an I’m-just-like-you snow job, th police chief or commander and the jihadi imposter become good friends. The jihadi tells the chief that he can help him build bridges between the P.D. and the Muslim community and he agrees to work with the guy. Fast forward to a couple of years down the road when some ambitious police Sgt. or 2nd Lt. smells a rat and does a little digging. When he presents his findings to the chief and shows him that this guys is connected with the Muslim Brotherhood and here’s why, the chief has two choices: 1) admit he was wrong and cut off all ties with the jihadi or 2) tell the subordinate to shut the hell up and burn that file. According to John and E.J. the majority will choose #2 rather than risk the embarrassment of admitting he was made to play the fool. Since there is plnty of evidence that pro-Marxist groups are working with Islamists to undermine our country I would have to agree, I don’t trust our police to keep us safe.
This is shear lunacy. The UN is a worthless organization that has no business in the affairs of the United States. I honestly don’t see this happening, but I also would not have predicted what Obama has done during such a short amount of time in office.
Of course Obama could try to push this through during a second term as President. If he receives a second term there will be no recovery from the damage he will do.
If he wins a second term he will probably have the opportunity to appoint two more Supreme Court Justices. If that happens and the SCOTUS hears this case the Second Amendment could be rewritten in favor of the UN and the liberal/anti-gun crowd.
Thanks Pete. I am practicing. I realize it’s not just pulling the trigger but also giving yourself permission for it to be okay to do what you have to do in less than ideal situations. I realized when I took the class and went shooting at the NRA range that this is an awesome responsibility and I had to change my way of thinking. It’s always been do unto others and “be charitable” in my world. Picturing myself killing someone, no matter how deserving, is something that I’ve had to change my mindset about because if the occasion ever arises I don’t want to do my thinking then. There won’t be any time to ponder the questions of the universe. If someone was attacking my kids then I know I could do it without thinking. But if it was just me I might hesitate so I want to prepare myself now. And everybody else should too.
My advice to any US politician thinking about voting for this: DON”T! If you do vote for this crap, make sue your affairs are in order. Just sayin.

ThomNJ, my understanding is that the State and Justice Departments are thoroughly infiltrated (but then Algier Hiss did that way back in the 1940′a) but the FBI is still pretty good, although every service has it’s CYA guys.

I contemplated the same question for about 3 months before taking that next step. Ultimately the conclusion I came to was that they know me anyway considering the purchases I make. You go through a basic FBI check every time you buy. Not only that but your instructor has already turned in his part of the paperwork, so again, they know. The next step is just a deeper check. Also, one of the things I learned in class was the reciprocity laws that exists from state to state. In Texas our castle law extends to our vehicles. There are like 27 states that reciprocate with Texas and our CHL rules, and because I travel by car to my moms I wanted to cross state lines without having to stop and break everything down. I am a female traveling alone and I want good to go within hand’s reach. Also, living in Houston, just walking from my car into a mall or wherever can be an, umm, adventure. Carrying makes me more aware of my surroundings now too. I walk from my car into wherever on the balls of my feet with my hand in my bag. They can take my bag, but my hand will come out loaded, so to speak.
There is always a risk, even this article reminds us of the rogue Katrina cops confiscating from legal owners, but it wasn’t just CHL holders they came after, it was anyone they could find on their list of registered buyers and just random stops asking if they had weapons on them. I weighed the risks and then decided after I worked out a lot of the logistics in my head that yes, I want my license, and I felt damn good when I got it too. I wanted them to “know.” In the end, it was a sort of defiant, kiss my ass, in your face move.

The second amendment is the final, last bulwark against our nation lapsing back into tyranny. All other rights are backed by the force of arms in the hands of The People those arms belong too.
The surest way to invoke an armed Constitutional Restoration in this country is to attempt to abrogate the 2nd, especially at the behest of a foreign power.
Not only do I believe is the 2nd Amendment a Right, I believe it is a DUTY of every able person to have the means to defend Liberty should it come to that.
While I do think this will come to pass, I do believe in eternal vigilance. Such suggests should raise such a hue and cry from everyone who loves Liberty, not just gun owners, that the message to the Administration should cystal clear. Even consideration of such a thing is a breach of contract between The People and Government we formed with the Constitution. Even the considering the thing, is violating the oath of office, the sworn covenant to honor and uphold the Contract.
We the Government breaks the contract, The People HAVE EVERY RIGHT, HAVE THE DUTY to restore the provisions of the contract, The Constitution.

As I’ve stated many times on this subject, America’s porches will be piled high with the dead bodies of those who were sent to collect the guns. After a few days of this, maybe a few weeks, they’ll figure out that their cushy municipal or federal jobs, with all the perks and sweet retirement benefits, won’t amount to a pile of dog shit if they wind up dead in someone’s front yard.

I spoke several times at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisor’s hearings regarding the Islamic Saudi Academy’s lease in Alexandria and Fairfax, VA. I was keeping a low profile to some extent before that while still attending protests and working on projects to stop the bad guys. But when I did a Google search and realized my address was on the internet as part of the list of speakers I just said, wth and moved forward. I haven’t looked back (except when I go back to my car after one of these events) ever since.
