Romney Only GOP Candidate Who Refused To Sign Anti-Abortion Pledge That Seeks To Defund Planned Parenthood…
RomneyCare, global warming, and now abortion: How is this guy leading in the polls? Here’s Mitt talking up his pro-choice views when he ran for governor of Massachusetts:
Comments & pings are closed.(Politico) — Five Republican presidential candidates have signed a pledge to advance the anti-abortion movement if elected to the White House, but the current front runner for the 2012 GOP nomination — Mitt Romney — isn’t one of them.
Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty and Rick Santorum each signed the pledge, sponsored by Susan B. Anthony List, vowing to nominate judges and appoint executive branch officials who are opposed to abortion. The pledge also commit signers to push legislation to end all taxpayer funding of abortion and to sign a law to “protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain from abortion.”
Mitt Romney, who’s leading in national and early state opinion polls, declined to sign.
“Governor Romney pledged in the last campaign that he would be a pro-life president and of course he pledges it today,” said spokeswoman Andrea Saul in a statement. “However, this well-intentioned effort has some potentially unforeseen consequences and he does not feel he could in good conscience sign it. Gov. Romney has been a strong supporter of the SBA List in the past and he looks forward to continue working with them to promote a culture of life.”
The pledge calls for legislation to defund Planned Parenthood — already a rallying point for the social conservative movement — and to cut funding to “all other contractors and recipients of federal funds with affiliates that perform or fund abortions.”

Mitt ain’t shit! Just another Progressive with an (R) after his name, that’s all.
I can’t understand how he is leading the pack. Wake up amigos, he is not the guy you want.
Mitt is the Republican Party Choice…or the media’s.
But EYE am NOT going to the polls to vote for another RINO. I. WILL. NOT.
Fuck Romney and the RNC!
Most liberals either flunked basic biology or skipped the hard part where the science has proven that, at conception, that thing inside the female human has unique DNA that even OJ Simpson can’t disprove.
But what’s surprising here? Liberals are the party of slavery and slaughter. Just like their fellow socialists – the SS.
Mitt is hedging his bets … he’s avoiding drawing fire from the left .. hoping he can draw crossover from people who are dissatisfied with Obama, and I’m sure he’s aware of his unpopularity with Conservatives.. he could become a problem, siphoning off votes for a true Conservative.
Let’s hope the Conservative base gets behind a real Conservative.
Cain didn’t sign either…

This is expected from Demoncrats, but IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ANY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE!
Dick Morris on Fox constantly pushing Romney. He did the same with the Huckster in 08….He says he hasn’t been hired by anyone, but I suspect he has been hired by Romney.
I agree with Sentinel, Fuck Mittens and the RNC. I wish Mitts would hurry up and run out of money so we can get on with the work of picking the right candidate for 2012. And he ain’t it.
The MSM is pushing Romney since they can’t push Mitch McConnell anymore
Is it a coincidence that AP headlines always say things like “Romney is pulling ahead” or “Surprise boost for Romney” or similar?
Beware a Rino with graying temples and hair club for men helmet hair (my bad that may include Perry and Pawlenty…)

So let us look at his bucket list:
- Romney Care – socialized healthcare
- Global warming nutjob
- Abortion flip-flopper
- Anti-gun….have you ever seen Mass. gun laws?
- AWOL during the last 3 years—not 1 word about the destruction of America, the US Constitution, or the destruction of business.
- R.I.N.O.
Anyone remember the name Scott Brown?

Romeny et al will run on a platform that he will control if elected.
That’s the way the real world works you losers, read the fucking restrictions. Romney’s decision was presidential. In other words he said fuck you, eat shit, and bark at the moon.

Don’t sign up. The choice is yours Georgie boy. If you want to lose, keep on doing things that signal you have no real core belief and are about as pro life as Obama. I agree that Romney is the choice of the RINO set and the media. They know if they can get a person weak on life, Barry will win as the pro life folks do not vote for either. Does anyone here third party if Republicans punt on life issue?
Romney is from Massachusetts, need I say more? Scott Brown and Mitt are joined at the hip.

Wanna verbally beat up a grandma? Have at it.
Leatherneck is one, tough typist.
Hoo Rah.
Wonderful, just wonderful. We could end up with Barack Obama or Barack Obama Romney.
Either way the Democrats can’t lose.
He’s leading the polls because while in MA, he refused to sign it… but as president unlike the loser in the WH now, Romney would not interfere with Indiana’s plans to defund Planned parenthood.
I’m pro-choice, but I do not believe federal funds should be used for abortions, but planned parenthood does provide a lot of services for women in poor neighborhoods, planned Parenthood in the last decade has really started expanding in this area, if they would just stop this part of it, and focus on the other things they do.
as for romney, he’s not my first choice, I’m more socially liberal/libetarian but I am staunchly for fiscal conservatism, limited govt…. and Romney is not that either, but at this point, I want Obama kicked out in 2012! and the congress needs to have some rock solid constitutional conservatives, people like Mike Lee, Rand Paul.
Come on people…..he’s not leading!!! It’s the lame stream media (Leatherneck is one of them) stirring the pot. We all know Obama is going to lose and the liberals want someone who is closest to what they can deal with. I hope like hell a real conservative gets the nomination. Don’t fret over the BS that they are putting out now…..we have many months to go.
By the time Nov 2012 gets here we’d all take Alvin Greene (S.C. nominee for senate 2010) over the dipshit in there now. Goozfraba!!!! Goozfraba!!!!
He’s leading right now because most people will vote for an orange juice can over Yasser Obama in 2012.
Reporters should ask Shit Romney his stance on bammycare since he is the actual architect of it.
I do not believe he is leading.
1) Some who are being polled are saying yes to Romney because of the very old lines, “He looks presidential”, and “He is the only one who can beat Obama!”. I call bullshit on both these idiotic lines of thinking. This is due to the Mod Squad voters who think they are smarter than everyone else in the room. They are falling for this Krauthammer way of thinking. For now.
2) This is summer time polling, and most people are not up to speed on the issues, or the correct data most here have on just how bad Romney would be at this juncture. Some are not even at home, and some could not be reached because they have no phone BECAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT.
3) The numbers are also being monkeyed with by Estabs and the LSM who want Romney to be the choice just like El Captain McCain.
4) People, this campaign business just got kicked off, and there are around 15 more months of this crap. They, the enemy from the GOP, and the DNC, and of course Spooky Dude/UN, they are all wanting us dejected, and to toss in the towels now. You could not see the handwriting on the wall any clearer than the crystal clear message of how angry they want us at the GOP, and in one sense at Romney. Think about it. We need, as the Newtster said, we need LARGE majorities to undo all this shit. We also need a CONSERVATIVE voice coming from the candidates. A strong one. IF we are not hearing that strong voice from the candidate in the lead, it impacts our attitudes and ups the frustration level. The next step is to have a third party emerge, and presto, bingo, bango— you have Dems still in large majorities in Congress, and Obama wins POTUS. Give this campaign season some time to marinate. I believe the stronger Conservative voices are going to get louder, and they are going to begin swinging both at Obama, and at Mittens. Plus, I am not necessarily sold on Frank Luntz’s focus group deal on Hannity, but evidence that these polls are not telling the total story about voters opinions are his last focus group after the CNN debate, (Mittens was not the fav), AND do not forget how people in SC were liking Cain and Santorum. In fact, after the CNN debate, the focus group people had a totally different reaction than the inside the Beltway morons. The people are disconnected from the Romney is the leader group think in D.C. and in the media.
5) Another clue to Mittens nuking himself is that he is not campaigning in either Iowa or SC. Instead, he is going to CO, NH, and MI. He is not going to PA, OH, IA, GA, SC, WV, VA, WI, or FL. Why? This looks to me like a campaign strategy close to Rudy’s, and we all saw how well that turned out. Dittos to Fred, whom I like. He cannot just show up and win by default. So, he is basically conceding IA and SC. But I thought he had NH wrapped up? Hmmm?
…this looks alot like McCain in 2008 all over again. Romney is being FORCED onto Republican voters by elements that a) don’t want their tee times at the local country club on the day after the election to be delayed, and b) want Obama to be re-elected in 2012.
or more precisely,
a) RINOs
b) lamestream media
I’ll take a Palin / Perry ticket anyday ….. “Release the Craken”
Tea Partiers are not going to vote for Mitt. Been played too many times, ‘vote for the republican even if he doesn’t hold all your views. Better than the alternative.’ Hardly better. same road, same outcome. I won’t fall for it again. I don’t think other tea partiers will go for it this time either.
He’s leading because the MSM wants him to be the candidate.
@Calypso Jones:
Exactly right! Conservatives have been told over and over again to hold their noses and pull the lever for a RINO and have done so… George HW Bush, Bob Dole, McCain. When have moderates EVER done the same for us? Moderates supported Anderson in 1980 when our nominee was Reagan. They even ran Anderson as a 3rd-party candidate that year.
The time has come for moderates and RINOs to STFU and let we conservatives fix the mess they and the democRATS have created.
Bottom line, abortion is not going away. Spending political capital on the subject is a waste of time and counter productive.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the economy is going to be job #1 for the next prez and hope to hell he/she does not waste 2 minutes spinning their wheels on abortion.
I do not want to see this fool run for dog catcher. I can’t believe the poor crop of candidates who can effectively communicate to the masses the trouble we are in. The media is a large part of the problem, but no one with the country in mind is willing to stand on the founding principles.
We are in deep trouble.
If nominated, he will surely lose McCain style. Conservatives will again stay home and sit it out. The ticket top to bottom will take a beating. The Republicans don’t need any more middle of the road candidates. That path leads to failure every time it is has been tried. Nominate a real conservative, win the election and the liberals will be forced back to obscurity where they belong
The liberal media wants Romney. What does that tell you? They are pushing this guy and won’t say anything negative about him until after the primary is over. They do the same thing every 4 years.
Can’t imagine just how proud the Morman community is of him right now. Probably think as highly of him as we do.
as soon as liberals let women leave the home where they belong our great nation began to decline
The Establishment GOP doesn’t talk about Mittens much. They talk up Huntsman a lot, too. He’s on par with Willard. The GOP doesn’t really care if they lose this year. They’re just looking for the Bush Dynasty to continue in ’16 with Jeb.
The most worrisome thing to me are the OPEN primaries in NH and SC. Libs don’t have anyone to vote for, and NH requires NOTHING in the way of I.D. for primary voters.
Don’t let the poll results fool you. Even though Mitt comes out on top, if you look at other inside info, it’ll also tell you that 70% of those surveyed also wanted another candidate. Mitt comes out on top just because of name recognition. If you ever look at http://www.pollinsider2012.com, the relevant info shows that this is going to come down to a two-person race in the GOP: Mitt and Sarah.
Last night at the RightOnline conservative bloggers convention, planners had to move the showing of “Undefeated” to a 1,000 seat ballroom because of the overwhelming response. During the screening, bloggers who previously had reservations about Palin were tweeting how impressive she was and how, after seeing the indie Palin film, there was NO other choice but Palin. The tweets are contained in the comments section I tried to link to:

Get Uncle Sam out of women’s underpants. Get republicans out of peeping up women’s dresses. Get the fascist big govt out of the private parts of citizens — they are called PRIVATE PARTS for a reason.
Life does NOT START AT CONCEPTION — it started over a billion years ago and keeps on rolling. 100,000,000 sperm die for every ejaculation and not every sperm deserves a name. A parasitic lump of flesh is a FETUS, NOT A BABY — there’s a lot more where that came from.
If god sends a pregnancy to the wrong womb by mistake, it’s only proper to send it back for re-assignment. That’s the smart thing to do — the stupid thing to do is keep it.

At the moment of conception the new life form has a definable and separate DNA than the mother or father. God does not make mistakes, humans do.
If anyone in this day and age is too stupid to use some form of birth control they shouldn’t be loose on the streets. As a woman, I don’t want to pay for someone else’s fun while feeling their actions have resulted in murder. I really don’t give a rip what other women do, just don’t ask me for state-sponsored murder and the use of taxpayer money to get you out of your little ‘problem’… It’s really simple: don’t breed if you can’t feed it! That also includes: keep your legs together unless you have the funds to get rid of it on your own dime.
The rest is between you and God.
Back to Romney – he is John McCain in a new package. He’ll lose in a NY minute to Obama. But, then, perhaps he’s supposed to be nothing more than be the house shill? He is throwing out little more than the current administration, so the common thinking would be to keep the devil you know than the one you don’t.
If Romney is the nominee, I’m staying home. Millions of other will do the same.
This guy is McCain but with better hair.
