Former Obama Green Czar Van Jones Considers Legal Action Against Fox News, Demands Glenn Beck Retract Claims He’s A Communist…

(Huff Po) — After challenging Glenn Beck to a debate over the weekend at Netroots Nation and in a MoveOn.org-sponsored ad Monday, Van Jones may have taken his beef with Beck a step further.
Jones, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress who resigned from his job as White House “green jobs” czar following the conservative host’s repeated claims that he was a subversive and a Communist, is considering legal action against Beck-employer Fox News.
Jones’ attorney sent a cease and desist letter Monday to Dianne Brandi, the network’s executive vice president for legal & business affairs, claiming that “a series of sensational and inflammatory charges” have been made against Jones on Fox News shows. The statements, his attorney Joseph Sandler argues, are “demonstrably, unequivocally and absolutely false.”

In a six-page letter, the letter says that Jones has been called “radical revolutionary” (Beck), “an avowed Communist and 9/11 truther” (Sean Hannity), and a “far left kook, Communist guy” (Bill O’Reilly), to name just a few of the disputed allegations.
“Mr. Jones is not a member of any Communist Party or Marxist organization whatsoever, and has not expressed any support for any form of Communist or Marxist ideology for many years,” Sandler wrote. He added that such statements are “demonstrably and unequivocally false” and were made to “injure Mr. Jones in his professional and community standing.”

Along with George Soros and the Ford Foundation, Tides has also funneled tens of thousands of dollars to the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), an organization established by Sixties radicals William Kunstler and Arthur Kinoy.
Prior to creating the Center, the two floated a plan to establish a new “Communist Party.” Not surprisingly, the old Communist Party has enjoyed a close relationship with the Center.
In 1999, the party publication People’s Weekly World honored CCR Executive Director Ron Daniels alongside a member of the CPUSA national committee.
Daniels, who was Deputy Campaign Manager for Jesse Jackson’s 1988 presidential run and the 1992 presidential candidate of the Peace and Freedom Party, has a longstanding cordial relationship with racist, anti-Semitic “poet laureate” Amiri Baraka.
Tides has also given grant money to the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Ostensibly a “Muslim civil rights group,” CAIR is in fact one of the leading anti-anti-terrorism organizations in the United States. CAIR regularly opposes American efforts to fight terrorism, claiming that Homeland Security measures are responsible for an undocumented surge in “hate crimes.”
The Tides Center describes its political agenda in this way: “For more than twenty years, Tides Center has been working with new and emerging charitable organizations who share our mission of striving for positive social change.” (This is very similar to the Center for Constitutional Rights’ mission statement.) The Tides Foundation defines this as “strengthening…the progressive movement through innovative grantmaking.”

STORM worked with known communist leaders.

Speaking to the East Bay Express, Van Jones said he first became radicalized in the wake of the 1992 Rodney King riots, during which time he was arrested.
“I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th,” he said. “By August, I was a communist.”
“I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of.’ I spent the next 10 years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary,” he said.

God I hate lawyers and frivoulous lawsuits! They usually get settled out of court with both sides lawyers getting paid, and the rest going to some undeserving SOB!
I know what I’m talking about, as I was just served with paperwork last week! This used to bother me alot, but now I understand, it’s just the price of doing business in the USA today, sad but true! So many SOB’s look at a potential lawsuit as if “they won the lottery”! What they don’t know is the mental stress they will have to endure along the way, and they may not win! Unfortunately, we have a whole generation of “shake down” lawyers that will sue anyone, especially businesses for any reason, including completely made up cases. I call these lawyers the kitchen sink variety, because they throw in everything they can dream of in the complaint, including the kitchen sink and you are forced to defend every charge! I hate those fuckers! I really wish I lived in the age of duals!
Our court system needs a MAJOR overhall, and loser pays for starters! Most if not all of these lawsuits I deal with would never be brought because they would not feel they could win! I also feel all judges should be elected and not appointed, and serve a set term. They should also have to reveal there political leanings, d,I, or r. No appointed for life terms!

I really hope Fox doesn’t cave and calls this guy’s bluff. Other than throwing the word “kook” in occasionally, the basis of what Fox is saying is true and can be easily demonstrated with tons of video and written evidence in a court of law. Jones can’t even defend himself by saying he’s recanted beliefs Fox says he has, because there’s plenty of recent truther and communist statements.

I enjoy and value the majority of your comments and so I hope you won’t begrudge me a small criticism or two every now and again.
The first one is this – Folks, this is the computer age and as they used to say – “on the internet, nobody knows if you’re a dog”. That is, until you regularly spell simple English words or use grammar that seems to indicate you are trying to type with big floppy paws and (un)manicured claws. You see, when you do that potential (un)friendlies who might disagree with your comment on substance, will immediately default to mocking your apparent level of education. It’s not that being an awful speller necessarily means you’re stupid, although not knowing that computers can easily help you with that might. So for the sake of freedom please use a browser such as firefox4 which can indicate misspelled words for you and offers corrective alternatives. Either that, or cut and paste your comments in after first writing them in a word processor with spell checking. This is really quite good for you as well since it teaches you the correct spelling for future reference. Especially annoying is the one-liners that are written are so poorly that that they immediately detract from the message, for example – “my dog has no noose.” I mean really, how hard can it be to proofread one single line! When I see that on this awesome website I immediately begin to imagine that I can hear “dueling banjos” coming out of my speakers and half expect someone to say – Come on, boy, squeeeeel like a pig!
My second beef is this – when someone of a different ethnicity than you says or does something really stupid, why on earth would you ever choose to say something critical about their ethnicity. A stupid human being is a stupid human being. Who gives a fig about the refractive index of their skin?

Being a student of the use and meaning of words, I’m pretty conscientious about correct spelling, but sometimes trying to type at 100 wpm on a laptop is problematic, so if I get in too much of a hurry, I can screw up. I am using Firefox 4 now, and I like the browser, but sometimes I use Opera, IE, or Safari, and again, if I get in too much of a hurry I can screw up.
I take all this with a grain of salt, people are just people, they aren’t perfect, and as long as I understand what they mean, I don’t take issue with the relative degree of their proficiency with spelling, etc. In my years in the business world, I was often amazed at how stupid some executives are when it comes to spelling.
On the other hand, spending a lot of time blogging and reading political news, I am amazed at how bad the editing is in the media. Don’t these people have proofreaders? I find errors in books, and a lot of errors in online publications.
I find that I just have to let it slide, I can’t control these things, Lord knows, it’s hard enough to change oneself.

If you are a public figure, anyone can say just about anything they want about you, and there’s not a thing you can do about it.
