Emails Show Obama Regime Advised GM How To Eliminate Pensions For Non-Union Workers…
It’s almost like the Obama administration is favoring unions.
(Daily Caller) — New emails obtained by The Daily Caller contradict claims by the Obama administration that the Treasury Department would avoid “intervening in the day-to-day management” of General Motors post-auto bailout.
These messages reveal that Treasury officials were involved in decision-making that led to more than 20,000 non-union workers losing their pensions.
Republican Reps. Dan Burton and Mike Turner say that during the GM bailout, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner decided to cut pensions for salaried non-union employees at Delphi, a GM spinoff, to expedite GM’s emergence from bankruptcy.
At a Wednesday hearing, the House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, Stimulus Oversight and Government Spending started pushing the Treasury Department for answers on the effects of the bailout and on how much of a role the department played in picking winners and losers.
The key point of the Wednesday hearing was to show that the Obama administration advised GM on how to eliminate the Delphi workers’ pensions. The evidence suggests Geithner’s team played a significant role in that process, despite claims to the contrary.

THIS is a big deal, a very big deal. Presidential coverage and excessive benefits for supporters while cutting the throat of (presumably) non-supporters, in a tax-payer funded bail-out of a private company.
If the Republicans have the guts for it, this is a very big deal.
And for you unionists who are saying, oh well, they should have been in the union, check out your pension very closely. Your pension money is the money that your union criminal enterprise is donating to the democrat party to keep Obummer in office. When you retire, you will be sh?? out of luck, too.
This changes the current lawsuit by former GM execs. These retirees were framed as ungrateful. The email discovery changes everything. Huge indeed.
This is bad for the Obama admin. Very bad. The Treasury people brought the unions in to work on the deal where other non-union employees are robbed of their pensions. And all with the Governments blessing. I never could understand why GM wasn’t just allowed to file a straight Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Why did the Government get involved at all?
Thisi something that has bothered me for a long time – I simply cannot understand why obama and his ilk can and have gotten away with so much OBVIOUS criminality. Before he was even elected, there was NOTHING from the FEC on his clearly suspicious and seemingly openly illegal fund raising. He could have been stopped right there. No Republicans in a high position had the guts to challenge them over and over again – there was a brief, “hey!”, and then silence………….and that’s one big reason why I stopped giving them so much as a dime.
If ONE person from Delphi votes for obama…well, then, you get what you deserve.
I hope all those former workers get together and sue the government for discrimination. The whole GM takeover ruined the financial lives of many people and these Americans should sue because a legal process was in place for bankruptcy and instead the Feds intervened with our money to pay off union leaders.
The non-union employees were treated the same way the shareholders were treated. This, combined with Gunrunner/walker should (hopefully will) be enough to derail the whole administration.
How is this not collusion to defraud these workers. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner needs to be thrown so far into prison that it would take a search party to find him.
