Chicago: Rahm Emanuel’s New Moonbat Police Chief Blames City’s Epidemic Gun Violence On “Government-Sponsored Racism” And. . . Sarah Palin?…
As GWP notes, he said this at radical leftist and Obama’s spiritual adviser Father Pfleger’s church.
(NBC Chicago) — The pervasion of illegal guns in America’s black and Latino communities is a result of “government-sponsored racism,” akin to “slavery, segregation, black codes [and] Jim Crow,” Rahm Emanuel’s new police chief, Garry McCarthy, told parishioners at St. Sabina’s Church earlier this month.
“This is sensitive. You know, because everybody’s afraid of race. Have you noticed that? Everybody’s afraid of race. I’m not afraid of race,” said McCarthy, who told of growing up in the Bronx with guns, gangs and drugs plentiful.
“Let’s see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting scared? Government sponsored racism.”
“Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy: Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children,” he said.
McCarthy blasted the NRA, telling parishioners that their communities have paid the price while the gun manufacturers are getting “rich and living in gated communities.”
And he told an anecdote of just one night with the New York Police Department. After returning home from investigating a pair of shootings, he said he flipped on the television to relax, only to find “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” being broadcast.
“She was caribou hunting, and talking about the right to bear arms,” he said. “Why wasn’t she at the crime scene with me?”
“[McCarthy] got it right on parts and got it wrong on others,” said Shawn Gowder, the Vice President of the Chicago Firearms Safety Association and the Sergeant of Arms for the African American Police League.

Chicago – Call it the tale of the 9-1-1 tapes. And those calls are shedding new light on what really happened on Memorial Day, when Chicago Police shut down North Avenue Beach. But in a twist it seems the real problems were further south, at Oak Street Beach.
“There’s a fight breaking out on this beach because there’s nothing but animals covering this beach today,” one woman told the 9-1-1 dispatcher.
A man working a concession stand also called for help.
“We’re actually doing beach concessions on Oak Street,” he said. “We have a couple of gentlemen that are threatening, actually a few people who are threatening to shoot us,they’re trying to take our own equipment.”
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy has maintained that the decision it had nothing to do with roving gangs causing trouble at the beach, but was instead based on concerns about the huge crowds impeding the ability of ambulances to get through to help people falling sick due to the heat.

This is a really sad article for me. I lived in Chicago for a good chunk of my childhood. In a way, it’s always been home. I told ZIP about it. He apologized & fixed it. ZIP then, apparently, suspended that contributor. Since that contributor returned a couple of week ago I’ve been banned.

McCarthy had long since retired from the NYPD when Sarah Palin’s Alalska was on TV. At the time, he was either Newark, NJ Police Director or in between jobs from Newark to Chicago. That comment is perplexing at best.
He retired as 5th deputy commisioner of NYPD, but prior to that was an effective administrator who was one of that department’s youngest up and coming commanders. He commanded the 33rd pct across the GW bridge from where I worked and was widely respected in the NYPD for his participation in the Bratton/Giuliani crime reduction effort in NYC in the 1990′s
McCarthy is also well known as a hothead. There was an interaction one of my bosses had with him in 1998 at the NYPD’s annual crime conference where he went ballistic after being asked a simple question regarding the displacement, rather than the actual suppression of crime in the NYPD’s 33rd pct, where McCarthy was a captain, and later a deputy inspector. Additionally, he had a well publicized incident in NJ over a parking ticket his daughter received on the Palisades Interstate Parkway where he was charged under a local ordinance. This nearly derailed his bid for the Newark job, but Corey Booker really wanted him and disregarded it.
I personally dealt with him when he was a night citywide commander as a deputy inspector inthe NYPD. My cops picked up an NYPD knucklehead who was starting trouble in one of our bars, and wouldnt go away. We finally had to bring her in and notify NYPD IA bureau and have them take her off our hands. McCarthy showed up at my police station at 330 am and was none too happy about having to collect the nitwit. (I dont blame him)
His comments above are very much in contrast to my personal observations of him. They are probably made out of a desire to please his political masters, who must be absolutely insatiable in Chicago. But the Sarah Palin reference is downright bizarre, especially if he attempted to link it to an NYPD experience, as he was long gone from there before Sarah Palin ever appeared on the national scene.
You left out the best part of the article. McCarthy took to the microphone after Father Michael Pfleger spoke about gun control. Where’s the separation of church and state they always talk about?

The majority of guns used in crimes are illegally purchased guns. And young Blacks are killing each other and others and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO until responsibility is placed on the black community where it belongs.
