Those things negotiated for in a union contract are NOT unalienable rights. They are only contractual obligations as long as the city or state government doesn’t file for bankruptcy.

CIVIL RIGHTS ARE THOSE FREEDOMS THAT EVERY AMERICAN HAS IN THE SAME AMOUNT, AND TO THE SAME DEGREE. Civil rights don’t require a labor union to enforce them.

Social Security is the only thing that even resembles a ‘civil right’, but the history of the Supreme Courts tells us that SOCIAL SECURITY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHT.

If there is no “contractual obligation” between government and the general public in the case of social security, then how could there be a “contractual obligation” between government and SPECIAL INTEREST in the case of union pensions?

Why would a special interest group get better treatment than the general population?

How can government enter into a contract that grants a greater set of rights to a select group of people?

The foundation of Liberalism is the belief that there should be a different set of rules (see: Moral Relativism) for every different kind of person. The problem is that there is only one kind of person in existence……..anywhere.
