I went through Joplin on my trip across this great nation. The people there went through a devastating disaster, but everywhere you look there are American flags flying and people trying to rebuild their lives. As soon as this current job runs out I plan to go back there and help them rebuild.
As for Arizona we didnt see the fires up close ,but could see the clouds from them. That is another example of government bureaucacy run amok for the sake of the Spotted Owl. Even though the owl lives in live trees, the Forest Service didnt allow people to take the dead wood from the ground leading up to an accumalation of dry tinder. Since the fire doesnt care if the tree is live or dead it burns all of them, even the one the owl lives in.
And by the way, best burger we had was in Amarillo. Jakes Bar and Grill.
