$10 million. Exactly how many jobs were created? More like $10 million borrowed from my kids to KILL American citizens. How much was spent for each American life ended? barry, Holder, Reid, Pelosi and all their ilk should spend the rest of their days in the Federal Pen! These people are despicable.
Is this, then, finally the “smoking gun” for the administration? Granted: I already know about the “Achilles Heel”…the operation itself.
Just wanted to mention here that despite all the uproar over the death of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in AZ being “caused” by a “Fast & Furious” gun, the truth of the matter is that he himself was armed only with “non-lethal” ammunition in his own weapon. This was due to ridiculous “rules of engagement” in a border war that the government doesn’t want to acknowledge, let alone fight. Which is the bigger crime?

To me from my POV the biggest crime is against the Constitution and our Rights.
F&F appears at this point to be not about stemming the flow of guns to Mexico, but to “prove” that lax gun laws were the problem.
F&F was IMHO designed to justify the DoJ and BATF bypassing Congress and implementing restrictions on firearm purchases and ownership.

43 weapons in Phoenix traffic stop of drug-dealing Illegal Immigrants linked to ATF ‘Fast & Furious’
The ABC15 Investigators have linked an additional 43 weapons recovered during a Phoenix traffic stop to the controversial Fast and Furious ATF case.
According to court paperwork, Phoenix Drug Enforcement Administration agents discovered the guns in mid-April. They pulled over a vehicle near 83rd Avenue and Interstate 10, near the Phoenix and Tolleson border.
Documents filed in federal court reveal five suspects named in the case are accused of conspiring to possess and distribute “500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine…”
Four of the suspects are listed as undocumented immigrants. The fifth suspect had been admitted to the United States under a non-immigrant visa, according to court documents.
Agents recovered at least 59 weapons during the bust. The ABC15 Investigators found 43 are connected to the Fast and Furious case with certainty.
We reviewed official ATF Suspect Gun Summary documents – a sort of “watch list” for suspicious gun sales and gun buyers. We matched serial numbers within the ATF documents to gun serial numbers contained within the federal court documents.

But to “prove” that straw purchases did occur BATF ordered the gun stores to let them happen. This on the premise they would track the guns. WHICH THEY CLEARLY DID NOT.
In order to prove their “case” BATF had to break the law thereby proving the law was in being broken.
Apparently since they couldn’t find examples of it actually happening with the Federal Gov’t aiding and abetting the crime.

Yup, that’s the truth JCM. And frankly I don’t blame any of the people who sold the guns at all – everyone knows you ‘play nice’ with the ATF, or you’re subject to losing everything at their hands. A vindictive, lawless agency.
This deal where we pass bills so we can see what’s in them is just not working out. Let’s just go back to the old way where we publish the bills with time to debate them in a slow and deliberate way. Slower, but with far fewer problems.

I’m trying to get up to speed with project gunrunner. What are they claiming that this program was designed to do? That is what I don’t get. what is the logic behind it?
PS: yes I already know what the real reason for it was. I’m just wondering what they claim publicly. How can they spin this to sound like soething plausible? I don’t see how.
How Much Money Did Operation Gunrunner get:
A November 2010 report says it got $10 Million in February 2009 Recovery Act
Supplemental Appropriations Act, June 2009 another Six Million Dollars.
Emergency Border Security Supplemental Appropriations Bill of 2010 allocated $37.5 million to ATF for Project Gunrunner, In August 2010.

I think one thing this really shows is that congressional oversight, when it comes to this administration, is problematic. For one thing, funding for this should not have been part of the stimulus, but more importantly if you are gonna fund stuff, you should be aware of what it actually does, versus what the ATF’s press releases say. But maybe that is just me.
