Attorney General Eric Holder’s “Fast and Furious” Testimony Begins to Unravel
The truth shall set you free.
Washington Examiner — On May 3, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa’s committee that he only learned about the government’s sale of weapons to Mexican drug cartels “in the last few weeks.”
But Big Government found a 2009 speech by Holder on the Department of Justice’s own website that proves the attorney general was well aware of Operation Gunrunner back in 2009:
The problem with Holder’s feigned ignorance is that he gave a speech in Cuernavaca, Mexico, on April 2, 2009, in which he boasted about Operation ‘Gunrunner” and told Mexican authorities of everything he was doing to insure its success.
When questioned by the media, Holder also denied knowing anything about Gunrunner:
“Holder’s office at first vehemently denied ATF has ever knowingly allowed weapons to get into the hands of suspected gunrunners for Mexico’s drug cartels,” CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reported.
But at the arms trafficking conference in Cuernavaca, Holder not only acknowledged the program, he bragged that he was in the process of expanding it:
“Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail.”
So Holder’s May 3rd denial appears to be refuted by his own words.

In what could be a repeat of the easy-lending cycle that led to the housing crisis, the Justice Department has asked several banks to relax their mortgage underwriting standards and approve loans for minorities with poor credit as part of a new crackdown on alleged discrimination, according to court documents reviewed by IBD.

Something about printing up fake ballots in VENEZUELA…..the ballots were seized at the airport…..and Obama almost immediately supported the strong-man tactics of the deposed president, Zelaya.

Don’t worry about Project Gunrunner, Kirsten Powers was on the Bret’s Fox panel yesterday and she said her white house buddies assured her it was not related to Fast and Furious. She also brought up those propaganda articles the
Washington Post put out about Issa being briefed. I thought that was debunked about a month ago, but I guess I was wrong. Kraphammer and the other guy didn’t offer any rebuttal. Anyways, who would prosecute them? DHS, FBI, ATF, and Justice are all involved, they won’t prosecute themselves.

The NRA is reporting that the Obama administration is quietly working on gun control regulation to be enacted “at the appropriate time”, according to the Brady Bunch.
I wonder if part of these new regulations will make encouraging the straw purchasing of weapons intended to be illegally exported to Mexican drug gangs by any federal agency or employee a Class A Felony? Isn’t this one of the “loopholes” that need to be plugged?

“Gunrunner”and “Fast and Furious” are not the same.
This is correct and actually a very important distinction. Project Gunrunner started under Bush and was a long-term cartel weapons interdiction program. There is no indication that Gunrunner has ever been anything but above-board. It was a general program with individual projects/operations of which Operation Castaway and Project Gunwalker/Fast and Furious were added to later by the Obama administration.
Any confusion about the different programs will be exploited by these weasels to obfuscate and confuse such as Kirsten Powers tried to do as mentioned by Jimco above.
The different programs like the Honduran Operation Castaway and Project Gunwalker/Fast and Furious were all done under the aegis of the Gunrunner program, hence all the “black paper” redacted documents given in response to Issa’s requests. It’s going to take serious pressure and investigation to get records released and separate the covert programs including those still undiscovered.
