MoneyQuote McCotter: “We have Obama as the champion of big government, we see Romney as champion of bail out banks in Wall Street bailout. They are less rivals than they are running mates”

He’s right.

(FOX News) — Most of the Republican presidential hopefuls have spent more time criticizing President Obama than attacking each other.

That all changed when Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., threw his hat into the ring, and he wasted no time zeroing in on fellow 2012 GOP contender, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

“Unemployment rising, people struggling in the Obama-Romney economy,” McCotter tweeted Friday.

The congressman expanded on that critique during a Saturday interview with Fox News. “We have Obama as the champion of big government, we see Romney as champion of bail out banks in Wall Street bailout. They are less rivals than they are running mates,” he said.

McCotter has good reason to focus on Romney. The former Massachusetts governor leads the latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll with 18 percent. Plus, as the son of former Michigan Gov. George Romney, he has strong ties to McCotter’s home state.

Romney’s support of the 2008 Wall Street bailout is at the heart of McCotter’s attack.

“Unfortunately, what we’re seeing out of Washington today and out of many in the Wall Street community is they’re thinking inside an economic coffin for the rest of America,” McCotter said.

But McCotter defended his own support for the 2008 auto bailout, saying he’s favor of keeping Americans working instead of losing those jobs to overseas manufacturers, saying that opponents of the plan “don’t have a problem with communist nuclear-armed China being the manufacturing giant in the 21st century.”

What an idiot. I’m no fan of Romney, but the opponent in 2012 is President Turd, not Romney.

He thinks he can win by tying Romney to President Turd???

all he’s doing is making free ads for the DNC and DCCC.
What a complete buffoon, he might as well go work for the DNC.

As Coulter says: Republicans…snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Don’t know who this gentleman is; don’t care. The primary will sort out the players; it’s early yet.
    NOBAMA 2012
McCotter does have a point. Like Obama, Mittens is a big government guy.

Tactically smart though. While TPaw wastes his time going after Bachman, Union-Thug-McCotter attempts to become the anti-Mitt. Go away anyway.

I know nothing about him, but he is pretty glib with the tongue….wasn’t he on Fox recently? I found him funny at the time, but if he’s a big union shill forget about it.

though McCotter’s the only one of the announced I could support so far, he’s still an incumbent, so I’m hoping someone else will step up…someone like Chuck DeVore, maybe

Thaddeus McCotter? That name will go a long way to dispel the stereotype of Republicans being rich people.

“But McCotter defended his own support for the 2008 auto bailout, saying he’s favor of keeping Americans working instead of losing those jobs to overseas manufacturers, saying that opponents of the plan “don’t have a problem with communist nuclear-armed China being the manufacturing giant in the 21st century.””

Except that GM went bankrupt even with bailout after bailout. Ask the shareholders and bondholders how great the bailout was. The only people who came out ahead in that deal was union management.

Thaddeus should stick to picking on Obama instead of participating in a MSM instigated Republican food-fight that will only help Obama.

I’m not a big McCotter fan but he’s absolutely right about Romney. To those who say that he shouldn’t be tearing down other GOP candidates: why not? Romney may fool a few people because he has an (R) next to his name just as McCain did, but not anyone who has ever looked at his track record. He can’t go a week without flip-flopping and Republicans of all stripes should call him out every opportunity they get.

McCotter may be a union shill, but then we have…

    Cain = Federal Reserve shill
Romney = socialized medicine shill and flip-flopping idiot
Perry = North American Union shill (read: no borders PERIOD), less obvious Socialized medicine shill. Also a 2008 Bilderberg attendee.

The only ones I’m even considering are Palin and Paul, and so far Paul is the only one who’s running, though Palin will undoubtedly join in sooner or later. Even though I don’t agree with some of his views I’d even consider Allen West, but he’s not running.

Heh. I wrote him off because he doesn’t “walk the talk.” McCotter supporting the GM buyout — which included the stockholders being literally ROBBED of their investment, and in some cases, retirements — is just like LTC West railing against ObamaCare but then voting for funds to build student health centers in Fla. that are part of ObamaCare.

Thad and Romney joined the race.
Each fell down and broke his face.

Sarah moved, to make the sale.
    Then she broke her fingernail.

As we know, it won’t be Newt,
And Ron Paul is an A-1 coot.
