After Shipping 25,000 Jobs Overseas, GE Chairman Tells Business Owners To Stop Blaming Obama And Hire More Workers…

The needle just snapped off the hypocrisy meter.

Today:

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The head of General Electric told a jobs summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Monday that businesses needed to take the lead on job creation.

At a conference where many of the comments were focused on government barriers to hiring, GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt acknowledged there needed to be some policy changes by Congress and the Obama administration. But he said that the responsibility for hiring lay with businesses.

“The people who are part of the business sector, the people in this room, have got to stop complaining about government and get some action underway,” he told the group. “There’s no excuse today for lack of leadership. The truth is we all need to be part of the solution.”

Immelt is the chair of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. He said the group has made a number of recommendations for changes in government policies that should be able to help job creation, such as the executive order announced Monday asking independent agencies to rid their books of old and outdated regulations.

January 21, 2011:

(Huff Po) — Jeffrey R. Immelt, the chairman and chief executive of General Electric Co. tapped by President Barack Obama as his next top outside economic adviser, will be asked to guide the White House as it attempts to jump-start lackluster job creation and spur a muddled recovery.

Immelt’s firm stands as Exhibit A of a successful and profitable corporate America standing at the forefront of the recovery. It also represents the archetypal company that’s hoarding cash, sending jobs overseas, relying on taxpayer bailouts and paying less taxes than envisioned. . . .

As the administration struggles to prod businesses to create jobs at home, GE has been busy sending them abroad. Since Immelt took over in 2001, GE has shed 34,000 jobs in the U.S., according to its most recent annual filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. But it’s added 25,000 jobs overseas.

“But he said that the responsibility for hiring lay with businesses.”

Say what?! Businesses hire people so that they can make money in their business, not to give that person a job! If the employee will cost the business more money than the business can make from the employees labors, then the business will not hire that employee.

And immelt knows this. That is why is labor for his business is overseas. But he needs to toot barry’s line, because he wants barry to continue to force us all to buy his toxic light bulbs.

    How did we get here?

Immelt should be investigated in 2013 for selling timing devices to the Republic of Iran, that later turned up on an Iraqi battlefield.

And far from being a “successful and profitable corporate America standing”, Immelt was running GE into the ground for 8 years. It wasn’t until he made a deal with the Democratic party to exclusively promote their policies on NBC affiliates that the company started to recover.

GE was a recipient of TARP funds even though it didn’t qualify for the “assistance”.

By playing partisan politics, GE ensured that would have a steady stream of government money to prosper from; Wind and Solar projects, military contracts that were already rejected once, were renewed……legislation was written so that GE could close it’s American light bulb factory (union workers), and the entire factory was moved to China!

Protestors disapprove of Immelt’s keynote speech on creating jobs

Protestors chanting “Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Cronyism has got to go!” marched during the lunch hour today in front of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.

The marchers were protesting the appearance of General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt in the chamber’s day-long conference on job creation, Jobs for America Summit. Immelt, who is chairman of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, was the event’s keynoter.

So Obama doesn’t look bad? Really?
What a goddamned asstool. And this coming from the man who runs one of the wealthiest, largest companies in the world and STILL got taxpayer-backed loan money from the government and then never paid a dime on $5 billion in profits.

All of what @ gastorgrab said!

Those GE timers have killed and maimed alot of our troops! I personaly think he deserves a round in the head for that alone!!! FUCKER!!!

I believe GE did the same “slimey” action as Goldman Sachs (a former investment house), that literly overnight became a BANK and was elgible for TARP! In Goldmans case, the largest user of TARP! Never in our USA history has anyone become a bank so quickly! ALL WZ’ers would be billionaires if you could borrow unlimited money at less than half a percent interest and payback the money whenever you felt like it! Oh, and your”shit paper” that you were holding that was worthless, you could give to the government er taxpayers and be credited at full face value!! If you were not of an investor mindset, you could always lend said money back to government at 3%! Fuck, a monkey could become an overnight billionaire with that scam! Calling Issa, crickets!

I use alot of electrical and electronic controls and switch gear in my business. I will pay more ,and go out of my way (costing my company more) NOT to use GE products. I NEVER use any of their products! Many times we have gone through job spec sheets to eliminate their products, not always an easy task! I will NEVER knowingly give a USA tratior one penny of my money!

Hey Idiot, If those jobs aren’t here for Americans, I think you and GE need to take your ass on out of the U.S. and go live where those jobs are and stop sucking up Americas air supply and farting in our space. Start paying some huge TAXES on your Imports, and WE might let you back in to visit for a couple of days and only charge you extra for……..Everything!, until GE brings those jobs back here and without unions.
