NYC Dem Heavyweight Ed Koch Urges Voters In Weiner Replacement Election To Vote GOP To Protest Obama’s Anti-Israel Policies…

“I want to put a shot across Obama’s bow.”

(NY Post) — In “a shot across President Obama’s bow,” Democratic former Mayor Ed Koch yesterday urged voters in Queens and Brooklyn to make “history” by voting for the Republican candidate to replace randy ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner in the Sept. 13 special election — as a protest against the White House’s policy on Israel.

Koch — a staunch ally of Israel — said he would “vote for Bob Turner” if the Republican-Conservative candidate backs Israel and opposes cutbacks to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

“If Jewish New Yorkers and others who support Israel were to turn away from the Democratic Party in that congressional election and elect the Republican candidate to Congress in 2011, it might very well cause President Obama to change his hostile position on the state of Israel and to re-establish the special relationship presidents before him had supported,” Koch said in his weekly commentary.

Koch likened the situation to Republican Scott Brown winning the Massachusetts Senate seat long occupied by Ted Kennedy.

“I want to put a shot across Obama’s bow,” Koch said in an interview.

He is furious with Obama over the president’s public push to get Israel to use its 1967 borders as a starting point for negotiations over a Palestinian state.

Koch also said he’s upset with Obama for considering trimming Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to get a deficit/debt reduction agreement with the GOP.

Koch’s comments are an early headache for Assemblyman David Weprin, the Democratic candidate handpicked to replace Weiner, who resigned in disgrace amid a sexting scandal.

    Wow…just wow!

Speaking of Special Elections, there is one going on right now in Calif….the repub may win in a heavily dem district…you rarely hear a word about it in the msm, the repub is a businessman to-boot.

    I hope he wins!

Cool. I would love for that to happen, not holding my breath, but it would be excellent!

Heh. Beck said miracles would happen. Koch advocating voting for a Repub is a miracle any way you slice it.

Don’t get too carried away, though. Koch is the same guy who (during the Charlie Rangel debacle) said that Rangel shouldn’t be prosecuted for the same tax cheating that would put the average American in prison.

When Neil Cavuto asked him why Chawlie shouldn’t be prosecuted, Koch said, “Because he’s a veteran.”

I believe all of us know veterans who are honorable but don’t steal hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I would love to see Wiener’s seat turn Republican.. maybe it will make up for the loss in the Buffalo, NY district area where Lee stepped down. The Dems keep using that loss as an example of the Republicans pushing for entitlement change when it really was another third party Dem turned Republican who ran as a Tea Party person who split the Republican vote and allowed the Dem to win.

    You wish.

Koch is not a Dem heavyweight by any stretch of your demented imagination.

Absolute Zero Chance of a Republican winning a NYC election to Congress.

But you losers keep on dreaming; it’s what you’re good at !!!!

Pretty good stuff. Not too surprised though Koch has never been shy about bucking his own party.

Let O-Zoneman Arugula-for-brains Obama try to bully the Jewish voters that the Libs have – up until lately – largely kept docilely interned behind the camoflaged barbed wires of the Dem Plantation and he’s likely to find out that one of the secret ingredients in Motzah balls is a huge portion of BRASS.

Ed’s giving us a glimpse of that.
