The entire premise of Obama’s speech tonight was we must have tax hikes and Reid’s plan contains no new revenue. So we have Boehner, Reid and Pelosi all in agreement and Obama on national TV saying the exact opposite. Savor this moment, my friends.
Washington, D.C. — Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on proposals announced today to reduce the deficit and avoid default:
“It is clear we must enter an era of austerity; to reduce the deficit through shared sacrifice.
“The President has called for a ‘grand bargain,’ which provides long-term deficit reduction based on shared values and sends a message of confidence to the markets.
“The latest proposal from the House Republicans is a short-term plan that burdens the middle class and seniors, and continues this debate about whether we will default in a few months from now.
“Senator Reid has put forward a responsible plan to reduce the deficit that protects the middle class, and Medicare, Social Security and Medicare beneficiaries. It also includes many proposals already supported by Republicans.
“We must come together for an agreement because our economy and middle class will suffer from a default.”

Reid’s plan has loaded sham cuts and will not cut anything or little.
The good news is that Liberals will disown Obama, Pelosi, and Reid and stay home in droves no matter what happens.
There’s an excellent chance that the GOP will have 300+ seats in the House and 60+ in the Senate, as well as being assured of taking back the White House.

No matter what the deal says, in 60 days we’re going to see new “revenue streams” from people making under $200k. The democrats are making a gesture of “shared sacrifice” that has no meaning. Toxic Nancy is the queen of the back room deal and will find a way to raise taxes while maintaining deniability for those involved.
If Boehner, Reid and Pelosi are in disagreement with Obama, I would think that by 5PM tomorrow, we’re going to be in a whole new place with this deal.

In all honesty the most likely result is that the Fed will simply print more money to keep the government going. Doing this of course will cause commodities to skyrocket and will lead to hyperinflation.
Of course Obama can prevent that by passing CC&B. This is the real choice: hyperinflation or we live within our means.
There will be no default. Checks will go out. People will get paid. But it will be Obama who makes the decision on whether or not a gallon of gas is $10 next summer or not.

Obama is really getting somewhere with his plan to fundamentally transform America. He is now contemplating a situation in which he might actually be able to manipulate an economic crash the likes of which we have not seen during our life time. Only by standing firm against his scare tactics and veiled threats will the Republicans be able to find out the strength of the private sector economy. That is the chance we must take in forcing Obama’s hand; for, if he uses his hand to force us, there will be no end to where he will push us. It’s a time for faith and courage.
