Labor Day Weekend: Palin’s Going to Iowa

I love this woman — she’s like Ronald Reagan in pumps.
(RCP) — In the latest indication that her sights are still set on a presidential run, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has accepted an invitation to keynote a Tea Party rally in Waukee, Iowa, on Sept. 3, RealClearPolitics has learned.
The Labor Day weekend visit to the nation’s first voting state comes after Palin indicated during an appearance on Fox News earlier this month that she would make her decision about whether to launch a campaign in August or September.
All signs now point to September as the month when Palin would throw her hat into the ring, as logistical concerns ranging from fundraising to getting her name on the ballot in various states would likely preclude further delay.
Many prominent political analysts and Republican operatives have expressed skepticism that Palin is seriously considering a presidential bid, since she has not taken many of the steps that candidates traditionally take before jumping into the race, such as signing early-state consultants, contacting key powerbrokers and boosting their travel schedules.
But Palin has a long history of shunning the Republican Party machinery and taking an unconventional approach to campaigns — a mind-set that appears to have been in play throughout the past several months.
Palin’s latest appearance in Iowa will come just two days after “The Undefeated,” a documentary film spotlighting her accomplishments in Alaska, will be released on Pay-Per-View and video-on-demand. In the film, Palin is portrayed as a continual thorn in the Republican establishment’s side. And it is the GOP, rather than the Democratic Party, that garners the better part of the movie’s scorn.
If Palin were to announce a White House run, the theme of her campaign would almost certainly focus on resisting the ingrained political culture and what she sees as being wrong with the status quo, and much of the Republican Party itself, in addition to continuing to offer one of the most strident contrasts to President Obama’s policies.
The outdoor rally on the first Saturday in September will take place at a field in Waukee, located just outside of Des Moines, and will be hosted by the Tea Party of America — an Iowa-based political action committee that was founded in May.
The midday affair will be the new group’s kickoff event and is sure to generate a large crowd and massive media attention.

some of you guys…I’m wondering if you’d “love her so much” if she looked like…say Hillary or some other broad that wasn’t quite so attractive—I think you are thinking with your johnson- she ain’t electable by the general public ( hint: Independents still loathe her)…I just say a poll yesterday asking men which public figure they are the most sick of hearing about, Lady Gaga was # 1-Palin was #2…and the women’s poll with the same question was flip flopped…
It’s ON!
YES!
Oh and BonelessChuch… I do not find Allen West “attractive” (although women do)… but I like him as much as Sarah Palin.
Read this March 31, 1980 Time Magazine article:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,921912,00.html
Polls mean nothing!
“I just saw a poll yesterday…..”
———-
Is that a scientific consensus?
.
I love the way this woman thinks, it’s completly out of the box. She is gonna run circles around the other canidates. The big sucking sound you hear will be the wind being sucked out of the other campains.
Vote AMERICAN Vote PALIN
Is she running? If not, then she needs to make that clear and don’t interrupt the chances for “REAL CANDIDATES”.
I like her; however, I also know that she’s just playing the game. But her playing is going to rob votes from those who have a REAL chance to win.
Also there are tons of Hollywood “actresses” that are very attractive… but we can’t stand their politics.
On the other hand, a lady such as Margaret Thatcher, who was definitely past her prime, was and remains an icon among Conservatives.
Past her prime when she was elected that is…
What people say they think, and what they really think, are sometimes entirely different.
That’s how Obama maintains the numbers he has. Through the media, they create the perception that everyone agrees with a certain position. As a result, people feel a social obligation to conform to the same model. The DNC is skilled at faking a public perception that isn’t true. This is why Hollywood is so in-tune with the Liberal left; they are both in the same line of work.
Yes, ‘peer pressure’ works on adults.
.
BonelessChuck sounds like he’s a SpinelessChuck.
Anyone still dissing Sarah Palin is doing so because they actually believe the crap the media has pushed on her, said of her, insulted her, etc.
She is the real deal –get your head out of your ass.
It is Sarah Palin’s politics and beliefs that count not her looks. Golda Meir was not a looker and she did great things for Israel. Anyone that can survive the trashing Sarah Palin has and still keep her winning ways is a winner. She is in an orbit above the other candidates.
@ Gastor
Known as the “Bandwagon effect”
Of course you have to convince folks theres a wagon to jump on.
In 08 millions actually thought Obama was running against a Bush 3rd term.
It was quite astounding
Caption it!!!
“These are the actual size of Allen Wests cajones. Huge aren`t they”
Run Sarah Run!!!!
Palin/West 2012
I think none of us can forget the frantic contempt for this woman in 08 that was grounded in an absurd level of fear against what was supposed to be the dumbest most irrelevant person on earth.
Kinda like Bush being a huge idiot but could still plan 911 like a genius with not one leak or witness. If shes so irrelevant and stupid then why was she being pitted against Barry on more issues and instances than McCain ?
Anyone who didnt know better would think she was leading the ticket
What bothers me on a few levels is
1)
I dont think she could win in 2012 as much as she deserves to.
2)
I wouldnt vote for her only because I feel the vote would be wasted as opposed to jumping on the bandwagon with anyone who could beat Barry.
Its sad when we dont care whos in office in 2012 as long as its not Barry.
Whats even more sad is that I think a lot of people who have faith in her still wouldnt vote for her because their votes would be wasted.
Am I makin sense ?
I honestly think shed be a great leader.
A little quirky, definitely nontraditional, but I have a feeling most of those who want to vote for her wont because of what I mentioned above in addition to a media that would totally ravage any and everything she did or tried to do.
The amount of energy the media puts into bolstering Barry would double in their attempts to ruin her.
And I’m not exaggerating either
Quick thought for BonelessChuck and others of his ilk:
There are two Sarah Palins:
1. The straw man framed by the MSM
2. The real Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska
The former is not electable — not in any universe at any time. The latter, however, bleeds red, white, and blue, which is immediately evident to Main Street USA, and is eminently electable.
@Boneless Chuck
I agree that Sarah Palin is a lightening rod. And I don’t believe she is the right person for the Republican Presidential Nominee (at this time). But, I refuse to believe that people like her (men) simply because she’s a beautiful woman.
Sarah Palin represents the average American. She speaks to them in a straightforward manner, without artifice or condescension. She confronts matters head on. There is much to like about her. She has taken all the Left has to give and then some.
The leftist elistists would have us believe that she deserves to be mocked and is undeserving of any attention because she doesn’t quote Pushkin or Proust, or live up to any of their other facile measurements of intellect. I would suggest that this is an endearing trait, demonstrating a genuine character and strength that does not need the trappings of erudition.
@ BonelessChuck
For you information, a woman like Sarah would never, ever look like Hillary, because she would never allow it to happen. And yes, looking like Hillary, Kagan, Sotomayor, Napolitano, etc is a choice. What people see in Sarah is the whole person and if being a person like Sarah also produces someone attractive to look at, so be it!
Run Sarah run.
And it doesn’t matter what she looks like,it’s her strong Conservative values we love.
@ Katherine
Sarah also represents educated, attractive, athletic, smart, moral, honest, hard working, professional woman who love and honor their husbands and children and always show strength in extreme adversity. It is nice to have a role model to look up to and she is one heck of a role model!
If she runs, she has my vote and my support. And I know for a fact that I’m not alone.
Sarah is not only smart, she is fearless. That’s why people love her.
That’s also why we also love Allen West. These folks are absolutely genuine.
.
I’m from a family of Independents ,
If her name’s on the ballot, our check mark will be beside her name.
Palin/West 2012
Her looks may not be relevant but if she wins I’ll still apply for an internship.
Hell, I’ll even wear a blue dress
Please Sarah run. I have more respect for you everyday.
I believe there is a silent tsunami of conservative support for Sarah Palin just waiting for her to throw her hat into the ring. I think many liberal MSN types know this and that’s why they never pass up a chance to mock her and ridicule her supporters to trick her into not running.
She presents the biggest contrast to Obama of any potential candidate the GOP could field. She is loved by the Tea Party. Those factors, my friends, will be huge. That’s what makes her very electable.
Don’t let the MSM Media or GOP Elite Wonks fool you. Palin can win. I guess we shall soon find out, eh?
Never forget Governor Sarah Palin was the only Representative from the non-leftist camp that went face to face with the rabid WI union goons!
Where was unemployed Mitt, T-Paw, Gringrich or any other of the yellow bellied Repubs?????
you guys are just like the 2008 Obama cultists in your blind loyalty ( or Ron Paul zombies)–just because you like someone and their policies does not mean they are electable–you are not being intellectually honest if you deny that a vast majority of the public may think she’s nice enough but they also have bought into the hype that she is a bimbo. These are the facts-you can deny them all you like but it won’t make your wet dream come true. and btw I happen to agree with ideas and polices (expect for the fact she quit mid through her elected post of governor and went on the road show…)-but I know that the woman cannot get elected….and you inferring I’m an asshole or have my head up my ass ( Patriot Gal) because I saw the woman cannot get elected reveals your level of immaturity-about junior high level and you mimic the liberals who quick resort to name calling when someone disagrees or dares have a separate thought apart from the “group think “…
BonelessChuck: You don’t do a whole lot for your credibility when, after denouncing ad hominem arguments, you turn right around and advance one — “you guys are just like the 2008 Obama cultists in your blind loyalty. . .”
Maybe you could address my point.
Neither one of them are running. What’s the problem?
Palin is actually working with Bachmann. The left will continue to attack a person who isn’t even a candidate, and they will sound more and more ideological with every word. As much fuss as the media has made about her, they HAVE TO pay attention to her now.
Sarah is doing her part. Leave her alone.
.
I remember someone else that all of you experts in electability said could not get elected. His name was Ronald Reagan. Hmmmmm, wonder what became of that unelectable person. And yes CluelessChuck, you are an idiot.
“(expect for the fact she quit mid through her elected post of governor and went on the road show…)-”
How lame.
You sound like part of the MSM reaching for obscure crumbs on the floor
I hate to keep beating the history drum, but for any of you who are old enough to remember Ronald Reagan during the primaries, people thought he could not win either. So… I can remember folks being so jazzed to work on his campaign, and they could not wait to vote for the man. If we are living in the Carter hell we all firmly believe we are; then Palin will rock the world!
I am not a Palinista. I have not decided whose bandwagon I am going to get on, but I can say that I will get behind anyone who is not Obama. Many of us voted for McCain and hated every minute that we were forced to do so, but we did it because we knew what our fates would be if we did not. Reality bites and sucks all at the same time. You do what you gotta do.
For those constantly crying Palin cannot win, or they do not want to waste their primary vote, I would ask you to consider which current candidate on the GOP side has put on the boxing gloves, and is taking it to Obama? Who? Who in the GOP is kicking his ass every single day, and I am not talking about talk radio, the internet sites, or Conservative print media, or some on Fox. Even Bachmann has not been as vocal to call out Obama as much as Palin has. *I love Bachmann as well, but … To date Palin has demonstrated more guts, courage, a fighting spirit, and at least she is not calling the Tea Party members, “hobbits”. Think about what she would do with a screwed up Congress with a 6% approval rating. I nearly become giddy thinking about what she would do to a Mitch McConnell or Boehner!!!!!!!
For me, after analyzing the polling data and internals after the 2008 election, it is clear that the GOP does not need to focus so much on Independents, who are hating on The One in a major way already, but rather the key to winning this election is getting Broken Glass Conservatives out to vote. (Note- blogger named Manly Rash in NJ had most of the insight on this). We missed their 8% greatly, and they were key to Reagan’s win. We already have Dems breaking towards the GOP by some numbers as high as 20%. (Shout out to the Pumas who worked their butts off in PA and OH to get Republicans elected, and are beyond pissed at the DNC.) Sarah Palin would have this particular group of Republicans/Conservatives out to vote, work her campaign, and donate money in droves. So, if she runs, you can bet she will make other GOP primary candidates look like limp noodles, and she will have a chance at not only cleaning Obama’s clock, but cleaning this country up. Plus, she did not propose something as stupid as Romneycare, and she is not a P.O.S. like that weasel stick figure Pawlenty.
+ triple kazillion to the Weasel Meister. Amen!
Another thought. If she is so unelectable, why is it that so many on the Left spend so much money and time to tear her apart? Answer-FEAR. Dittos to Estabs in the GOP. AND if she is so unelectable, why is it that any place on the net that has a thread available for comment on Palin, they never have less than 20 comments. Most of the time comment sections go past 40, and on up into the hundreds. I do not see this if there is a thread open for Romney, Pawlenty, etc. Maybe I do with Bachmann, but not many others other than Palin.
Why can’t people just allow Palin to at least show up at one debate before they say she cannot win? She nuked Joe Biteme at the VP debate. She had thousands upon thousands show up at rallies. That is not someone who could not attract enough attention and support to win a primary, and then could win the presidency.
I am not buying the leftist mantra that Palin is not electable – if she is so unelectable, then simply, WHY are they so terrified of her? She can win. I refuse to let the left choose our candidate again. The only thing that I thank McCain for is for bringing Sarah farther into the public eye. She is here when we need her, and she is doing her part. If she intends to run for President, I sure as hell will back her. If she wins the nomination and I hear any Republican friends of mine say they will stay home from the polls come election day, I will punch them out if barky gets re-elected. I might punch them out anyway. The one power and say we have is our vote. Not voting is wrong. Period.
You can say all you want about her electability in the general election, her odds, her support base, whatever you choose. But one thing is certain: if ANY guy or even a fugly female candidate were sticking by their convictions and espousing the Constitution’s intent the way she does, they’d be a shoe in. Prejudice against good gams is just wrong.
ThomNJ not voting is wrong is right. Too many people have died in the of freedom to take it for granted. I loathe people that don’t get off their asses and vote. Anyone but barry or Romney. God forbid Romney gets the nomination, I would have to hold my nose and squeeze my ass cheeks tight to pull the lever.
I wish the woman would shit or get off the pot. If she runs I am dreading hearing Barracuda and Mama Grizzly for the next year. Like fingernails down a chalkboard for me. I pray to God someone comes up w/some better slogans for her. I am scared to even think about what barry’s will be. He has ruined the word Hope for me.
Of all the people I know who despise Obama almost all of them dislike Palin with the same level of distaste.
I think if she runs she would be doing this country a great disservice – it is not whether I like her or not-I just don’t want BO too win again, it is too much of a chance to take.
This country cannot afford a chance taker-we are at the tipping point and we better have a shoe in anything less is suicide for this great country.
I don’t think West will run-but he could take the Presidency, after that I think Christie could take it, they would beat Obama and not be wildcards or polarizing figures.
*to win again
Yo Boneless, right now a generic Republican beats Obambam in the polls. Do you honestly think if it comes down to Palin and the Bowing Usurper we Conservatives are going to vote for the Usurper because Palin is “unelectable”? Says who??
The more trolls like you post on these forums with “she’s unelectable” , etc, the more I know she is electable. Thanks for playin’.
So -if these people despise obama I guess they won’t vote for him .
If SP is the nominated opposition I guess they despise her & will not vote for her either.
They cancel each other out & therefore they don’t count.
Again, Christie appointed a muslim to the bench and he supports the Ground Zero victory mosque. No! No! No!
The Stache has said he would overturn everything Obambam has done.
The Stache and Palin in 2012.

whoa that was a big post-sorry!

When she announces she’s gonna run away with the nomination and then she’ll have the Chicago machine Marxist stuttering on the first five minutes of the presidential debates.
Merrimac might be ready to jump off the nearest cliff when his PDS completely consumes his mind (if it hasn’t already).
“Merrimac says:

whoa that was a
bigstupid, insipid and rambling post-sorry!”Fixed it for you.
Palin will not get the nominee in 2012. She is already hurting the Republican Party. Palin is not conservative enough. Most of the Tea Party members and conservatives will not support her. We still don’t have a clear winner candidate for the 2012 Republican Party ticket. Hope that Gov. Rick Perry of Texas will run for President because he can bring the Republican Party together. If Perry doesn’t run, Romney will probably get the nominee and we will lose the election in 2012. Obama will serve his second term in the White House.
Its a toss for me…either Sarah or West…depends on whether she runs…if she does, Im voting for her! If she doesnt, I vote for West!!!
