WaPo Poll: Words Voters Most Used To Describe Budget Talks — “Ridiculous,” “Disgusting” And “Stupid”…

Surprisingly, “satan sandwich” didn’t make the list.
Comments & pings are closed.(WaPo) — Americans give overwhelmingly negative reviews to the fierce budget debate that has transfixed Washington over the past few weeks, and large numbers now think less favorably about the country’s political leaders, according to a new poll by the Washington Post and the Pew Research Center.
Asked for single-word characterizations of the budget negotiations, the top words in the poll — conducted in the days before an apparent deal was struck — were “ridiculous,” “disgusting” and “stupid.” Overall, nearly three-quarters of Americans offered a negative word; just 2 percent had anything nice to say.
“Ridiculous” was the most frequently mentioned word among Democrats, Republicans and independents alike. It was also No. 1 in an April poll about the just-averted government shutdown. In the new poll, the top 27 words are negative ones, with “frustrating,” “poor,” “terrible,” “disappointing,“ “childish,” “messy” and “joke” rounding out the top 10.
Summing up their views over the past few weeks, 37 percent in the new poll say they now see President Obama less favorably, about double the number (18 percent) seeing him in a more positive light. A sizable 44 percent say their opinions have not changed one way or the other, but the negative tilt may hurt the president, who is already at or near career lows in Post-ABC News and Pew polls.

Satan sandwiches are now served in the house cafeteria. Rumor has it the Obumbler ate 4 in one sitting.
You say you want a revolu-shu-shun, we-ell…
The $38,500.00 donors in Chicago will receive Satan Sandwiches and apple slices.
This is the first time I’ve felt sorry for John Bohner in the last several months. If you look at the pic of him above sitting between Obama and Pelosi, looks like he’s the meat in a ‘Satan Sandwich’.
authoritarian, autocratic, dictatorial, despotic, oppressive, tyrannic, tyrannical, tyrannous
These sorts of polls are unbelievably silly. Do we know whether those responding viewed the talks as “ridiculous” or whatever because there were too few cuts, or because taxes were not added? Of course not.
Such polls merely collect words uttered totally without context. They are gibberish that is designed to sound like it means something.
It took that long to come up with a plan so incredibly awful. 100 billion dollars of spending cuts per year while they are running a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit. Has all of the makings of career politicians.
I never want to hear the phrase ‘ savings over ten years’ again in my life.
If the savings don’t take place within 12 months I don’t want to hear about them!
Funny, I use those words to describe American politics in general.
That and “staged”
It is a double extra meat Satan sandwich, barry and boner in the middle and harry and nancy are the bums, I mean buns. Moldy buns.
Was clusterfuck on the list?
@sp
“Funny, I use those words to describe American politics in general.”
American politics? Is that meant to imply that politics or politicians elsewhere are any different?”
So I’m serious …..what do we do now? What is the next step for us?
Inconsequential, ineffective, wasteful, and corrupted come to my mind.
The WASHINGTON COMPOST realy is starting to rot
Right after the picture is taken, a loud flush is heard, there are only four empty chairs!
“Asked for single-word characterizations of the budget negotiations”
Well, technically, satan sandwich is two words. Just sayin’.
