Good News: Judge Gets Striking Verizon Union Goons To Agree Not To Drop, Spread, Or Throw Feces…

Reason #456,987,356 unions have absolutely no place in 21st-century America.

TOM RIVERS, NJ — No vandalism. No violence. No Harassment. No Obstruction. No intimidating. No threatening. No Blocking. No Trespassing. Those were just a few of the restrictions placed on members of the local 827 IBEW bargaining unit, their dependents, minors, households and relatives in an injunction signed by NJ Superior Court Justice Mary Beth Rogers last week.

Rogers also set restriction on picketing, allowing no more than six picketers at the entrance to any Verizon owned property at any one time. Picketers were also advise that no more than two picketers may picket a private residence of a Verizon employee and must stay more than 10 feet away from any Verizon individuals performing work on a private residence or business. Rogers’ decision also specified picketers may not have animals present or block any ingress or egress to prohibit movement of a Verizon contractor vehicle.

Striking workers have also been barred from entering inside of any Verizon properties unless they are performing their duties as Verizon employees under the direction of Verizon. Rules were also set for recording, video taping or photographing any individual at any Verizon or performing company.

Ironically, section J is one that would normally go without saying, yet is clearly stated:

“Dropping, spreading, throwing, placing or otherwise causing nails, glass, cinder block, spikes, feces, clubs, rocks, screws, or puncture devices of any kind, or other object or debris to be thrown or strewn in, on, or about Verizon’s driveways, parking lots, entrances, exits, vehicles and adjoining roads to any of Verizon’s property or at any work site.”

The order took effect immediately after its filing on August 11th. IBEW 827 agreed to the proposal and posted a $50,000 bond for payment of incurred future damages.

Throwing feces? The only time I’ve seen “throwing feces” is at Monkey Island at the zoo. Tells me a lot about unions.

    You have all been had.

What would you do if your employer said “Sorry, but we gave all the executives BIG raises for saving so much money by shipping jobs overseas. You are going to have to pay $6400 a year more in health insurance.”

This site is all the poor morons, doing the bidding of the executives and well off. Soooo stupid.

Sunday was a nightmare for me. Verizon was a block away repairing some cables. The union goons were standing right next to them honking airhorns all day long. I guess the police wouldn’t do anything about it because it was hours of airhorns.

Sturbridge, MA has an army of these guys at the Verizon store. They have most of the parking lot filled with their cars and they are marching in front of the store and trying to engage traffic coming into the shopping center. It’s insane. there were almost two major accidents when I was driving by. Half are in lawn chairs and the rest are yelling at cars. It’s intimidating as hell, and nobody is going in that store or any of the others.

I hope Verizon management recognizes the serious concessions the court has imposed on the long-suffering union. This will have a major impact on the union’s ability to bargain in good faith with the company. I expect their lawyers are appealing this decision. If intimidation and vandalism is forbidden, how can the union possibly enlist public support for their cause?

I note the judge never mentioned the mysterious fiber cuts occurring all over the area. I’m sure they were just spontaneous and caused by natural forces beyond the union’s control.

Can you spell RICO, Mr. Holder?

    @George

“When the republican party can get you to post, talk, and VOTE against your own best interest, they have you.” Subsitute democrat for republican and you might be on the road to enlightenment.

Amigo, you are allowing your DNC handlers to cloud your mind. Obamacare is going to crush businesses big and small. The softly stated goal is to drive all people to the ‘public option’ this will happen when businesses drop their employees from company policies. This accomplishes two goals: hatred of those mean ‘fat cats’ and getting everyone on the Gubment teat for their healthcare.

“Sorry, but we gave all the executives BIG raises for saving so much money by shipping jobs overseas.”
Jobs leaving this country are being driven out by many factors which include: The highest corporate tax rate in the western/developed world.
    Over regulation.
And, yes, in some cases, extreme wage demands from some unions.

So, cutting fiberoptic lines, threatening workers, threatening management individuals, general mayhem and thuggery is just fine if the goal is to maintain the status quo for union members? And this relates directly to the Triagle Shirtwaist fires? No shades of gray in there?

  21. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 1:29 pm

Yea, all those people, who took a big financial hit are really cramping your style with protests and all, aren’t they? It must be so inconvienient for you to go shopping with all that noise. You’d think this was someplace where you were allowed to protest or something?

You still use the words thugs and good? Morons.

  22. Chris in N.Va. says:
    August 15, 2011 at 1:38 pm

Seems like the protesters have been reading about the yob mobs in the UK and, quite naturally considering the emotional maturity level of the average protester, confused the oft-used word “feral” to describe the Brit rioters with the much more familiar-to-them word “fecal”.

For such formidable, logical, reasoned-debate intellects as these it’s easy to see how they could confuse and conflate the two.

    Potty-minded yields potty-action. Crap-in, crap-out…

Yes some aspects of the job could be farmed out, like call centers, but the actual customers service aspect of the job requires a skilled person to go out & perform a seerice that can only be done by a human living here…

Think of them like highly skilled fruit pickers & You’ll be able to get your TINY LITTLE HEAD around it….

Of course it won’t be long before real fruit pickers start under cutting the wage of the skilled worker, (& Doing Jobs Americans love to do),

  37. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 5:46 pm

Yea…you screwballs can believe whatever you want. Taking rights away from American workers is a good thing in your mind. If all you nonprofessional kooks are having a tough time, all the professionals should be too. Even though we went to college and have good jobs and had to work our way up from the bottom 4 or 5 years later. We should pay too, even though we did everything right. Even though we have important, professional, responsible careers, that we take seriously.

I must say, I am one of the lucky ones. I LIKE to go to work! I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.

WZ is just a conservative rag. A piece of trash. All you have to do is read the headlines.

In my opinion, if you read this garbage to solidify your idiotic opinions, you should go back to school.

    At least “Not Likely” agrees.

  38. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 5:58 pm

    czekmark,

So, you think watching Andrew Klavan is an intelligent way to learn something?
That must be at least part of what is wrong with you.

    Captain Beefheart,

You are always a pain, and you always take what I say too literally. The point of my earlier post wasn’t to say anything specific about Verizon shipping jobs overseas. I meant this:

Verizon has made over a billion dollars in profit this year. Far more than they expected.

Verizon can afford to pay its workers a fair share.

Verizon wants to pay all of its executives and the share holders.

It does not want to pay the workers, who are actually doing something tangible.

That doesn’t sound very American. It sounds kind of like a king, who just wants more.

Now a $6400 hit for all the guys making 30-40K is pretty big–While executive salary is going up! While they are paying dividends!

You can talk about poop and “Thugs” (which sounds so elementary school) all you want, but WORKERS NEED UNIONS AND RIGHTS. Everyone will be next.

I am shocked that all you idiots on this site do see this!

  39. CapnAngus says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:11 pm

    George Pay attention!
Are you so naive as to think the union is telling the truth about the wages their people make ? It is to laugh my child…
64K yeah maybe for an employee under 5 years who doesn’t get any overtime…

Top Skilled in their craft make more like 115-125 K + their Bennies package worth about another 30K
If your household had 2 people working there making top pay you’d qualify as one of Barack’s “Rich” families.
    &
Trust me I’m not speculating there Georgie…

  40. CapnAngus says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:20 pm

    I’m sorry I didn’t realize you’re even more ignorant than I thought…
    & obviously still in school.
    Public University I’ll bet…

Entry level employees make 30-40 K at Verizon!!!! Wake up Kid… You’re so wrong on this subject it makes me want to slap you upside the head…

It does speak volumes about what you think the value of skilled labor is worth you punk… These people are very well payed because they are highly skilled as I’ve said the technicians are not easily replaced which is the only real strong chip labor has to play in this fight!!!

  41. John Difool says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:21 pm

    @ George Shitapple

WZ is a conservative rag and a piece of trash, but for some reason you can’t stop your proggie commie ass from commenting here. The Verizon workers signed a contract otherwise known as a collective bargaining agreement with their company. Last time I checked honoring a contract and an agreement was also the American way and the union goons don’t get to decide if they all of a sudden get a raise just because their company made a profit.

Sorry, but you don’t get to have it both ways. How you like them sweet apples Georgie boy?

  42. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:24 pm

    bwb,

    Here is what I think:

Protesting is good. It is legal and fair. Cutting lines or committing acts of vandalism and destruction is wrong. Pull them out of the crowd and take them to jail.

There is a great deal of effort put into stopping O-Care before it starts. This is because, when it starts, people are going to LIKE it. It solves a lot of the existing problems with insurance. I will probably have to pay a bit more for it, but it is fair. I know many people who have seasonal jobs, or are members of the working poor. They really NEED coverage. If we can spread the risk to millions instead of thousands, I think will be an improvement. This is a situation that need federal intervention. Business can’t police itself. That is a conservative myth. It will eliminate all the “We don’t cover this or that,” and more people will be healthier. I don’t know why you insist on looking at any kind of government intervention as something horrible.

As far as “The Highest Corporate Tax,” The United States is SIXTH. Yes, labor costs more in America, but we are supposed to have a higher standard of living. It is supposed to pay off too, by having a healthier, more efficient pool of workers. I see this a growing pains of the global economy, as we have to compete with third world countries. So I don’t think companies are doing anything other than lining their own pockets when the farm out labor.

As far as overregulation goes…We are sitting on some wonderful natural gas deposits where I live. The republican governor, with the backing of his drilling pals, want to just start fracking and ruining all the local water supplies. We can’t be standing in the way of business. Do you believe that people are actually concerned about their water? The gall! And the drilling companies don’t want to pay for all the damage they are going to do! The governor doesn’t want to charge them any tax. They might take their business someplace else? The gas is here!

This goes back to “business has the money, so they think they have the right to make all the rules.” Business thinks they should get all the advantages. That is because they are only interested in profit. They really can’t be trusted. Yes, it has to do with Triangle Shirtwaist, AND LOVE CANAL. Give businesses enough rope, and they hang us! (But only if it is in their best financial interest.)

  43. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:35 pm

Uh, I just looked up verizon salaries, and only the engineers are making 80K and over. Managers, techs and other customer service people start between 30-40K, just like I said.

Why are you so intent of finding some little piece of my post wrong? A $6400 CUT IN PAY isn’t reasonable! Especially when the executive made 17.5 Million Dollars!
That is a weekly paycheck of about 25oK, or about Fifty Thousand Dollars a Day!

I just don’t understand why you stick up for this.

  44. CapnAngus says:

  45. George Sweetapple says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:44 pm

    Hmm,

Verizon, which posted one of it’s best quarters since 2008, doesn’t just want the employees to pay for health care. Management wants to take away paid holidays, freeze pensions and continue exporting jobs to foreign countries.

The injunctions are probably a good idea, but the demands are unreasonable. I did 10 minutes of research, which is more that WZ did, with its National Enquirer headlines.

  46. soxfan4life says:
    August 15, 2011 at 6:46 pm

Hey Georgie, what’s the beef with paying shareholders? Without them Verizon wouldn’t have the capital to pay their employees, imagine investors wanting a return, the nerve of those bastards. Got to love how all you progs can’t stand Capitalism, but don’t want to move to a communist or socialist country, you want to drag us down the shit chute. If Verizon were smart, they would spin the landline division away from their wireless and let it go under, then all the union guys could congratulate each other on not giving shit back to the company, while going to the food stamp office and unemployment office.

We want phones that work everyplace, just like in Star Trek. We want to be able to communicate every random thought we have to all of our friends. We want to be able to send text messages and dirty pics and jokes to all our friends. Maybe even to all our friends at once.

When someone is driving to my house, I want to be able to contact them every 10 minutes, to check their progress.

We want to be able to do these things as much as we want, day or night. We don’t want to pay very much for it either…It is only this little phone in my hand, how much could this little thing have cost?

XY, a “flat motion” switch logically similar to Strowger switching. The “XY Selector” was not invented by SC, but licensed from L.M. Ericsson of Sweden in the late 40′s and re-engineered for U.S. switching applications (Ericsson used it for PABX and a very small Rural Exchange application). XY was very popular with REA (RURAL ELECTRIFICATION ADMINISTRATION) funded independent telephone companies and out sold all other vendors in the less than 1000 line applications in the 50′s. The largest XY ever in service was installed in Anchorage, AK by RCA Corporation for the U.S. Air Force. Later purchased by Anchorage Telephone Co, it eventually grew to over 10,000 lines.
