(Briefing Room) — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) said Friday that the “single biggest” thing President Obama can do right now to spur job creation in the United States is to allow more immigration.
“Most importantly, we want to get immigrants from around the world to come to America,” Bloomberg said in an interview with the “CBS Early Show.”
“That’s the single biggest thing that the president could do with Congress, is open up the borders to those that will create jobs here.”
He told CBS that immigrants “don’t take away jobs” but rather they create jobs for people already living in the United States.

We should form two lines of people in NYC. Have them parallel and facing each other. One line is all the unemployed but willing and able citizens of New York. The other line is made up of Bloomberg voters. one by one the Bloomberg voters explain to a jobless person why the helped elect or re-elect this asshat. The jobless person is then allowed one free kick to the crotch. If they have a family then everyone gets a turn.

@JenBee, good point you made but last I checked Canada did not allow [legal]immigration unless the emigre had a marketable skill or education they needed to improve economy, not to say that you don’t because I know enough about you from WZ to know that you do, I’m just making the point that the US should have the same standard. If you have skill or education you can come. We certainly need to stop the legal immigration of refugees until we get the economy under control or a the very least bring refugees from countries willing to assimilate/acculturate. We do not need large amounts of 3rd world refugees, our welfare system simply can’t afford it.

Here’s my take on the jobs issue;
Bush tried over 20 times to reel in Fannie and Freddie and was shut down every time by the Frank, Dodd, Raines douches and other dems. The Community Reinvestment Act blew up and the housing mortgage debacle occurred. Housing values nose dived and millions of mortgages were under water. But let’s be real…fuck those asswipes who over extended themselves into foreclosure. Instead, look at the other 90% of homeowners and what happened to them. All have seen a reduction in the value of their home. Even though they have their mortgage under control and have more equity then debt, their BORROWING power has been vastly reduced. As a result, the responsible homeowners, now having less equity, have hunkered down and concentrated on restoring their lost (by the foolishness of others) equity by attempting to rebuild it by reducing other debts and consolidating their monies back into their biggest asset – their home.
This is why money is hung up and not circulating. Yes, banks are sitting on a pile of money as well, but I cannot blame them as responsible citizens ARE NOT applying for loans due to their attention being on rebuilding their personal wealth vs. expanding into a new purchase.

Illegals take low skilled American jobs and they drain the country of millions from remittances. Money drained from our federal and state treasuries that are sunk costs include: incarcerations, police investigations, court costs, medical costs, housing costs, insurance costs and other gov’t services. In addition we have the human costs: murders, rapes, drugs, fraud, gangs, assaults, and kidnappings.

And yeah, I knew about Canada’s policy cause I read a book a year or so ago about how to move to Canada… was surprised to learn of their point system and how stringent they are on who they’ll let immigrate there, because you hear so much about muslims from poor countries who live there now, leeching off their generous welfare system.
