Poll: For First Time Rick Perry Only GOP Candidate Beating Obama, 44% To 41%…

So much for the “Romney is more electable” narrative.

(Rasmussen) — For the first time this year, Texas Governor Rick Perry leads President Obama in a national Election 2012 survey. Other Republican candidates trail the president by single digits.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows Perry picking up 44% of the vote while the president earns support from 41%. Given the margin of sampling error (+/- 3 percentage points) and the fact that the election is more than a year away, the race between the two men is effectively a toss-up. Just over a week ago, the president held a three-point advantage over Perry.

Perry leads by nine among men but trails by five among women. Among voters under 30, the president leads while Perry has the edge among those over 30. The president leads Perry by 16 percentage points among union members while Perry leads among those who do not belong to a union.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney currently trails the president by four percentage points, 43% to 39%. That’s a slight improvement for the Republican compared to a week ago. Earlier in the year, Romney held a one-point edge when matched against the president. Prior to today’s release, that was the only time a named Republican has held any kind of lead over President Obama. A Generic Republican currently leads the president 48% to 40%.

If Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is the GOP candidate, the president leads 46% to 38%. Unlike Perry and Romney, Bachmann’s numbers are a bit weaker now than they were a week ago.

Please pick Rubio as your Veep–Obama is flooding the US with illegal immigrants as we speak–this is the last chance for our country.

I want to know why bin Ubama’s number us still so high? Are there that many Americans that are still that ignorant, uninformed and dumb?

Obama is going the run the dirtiest, most brutal and probably illegal campaign ever. Perry better know this and be ready.
Supporters better be ready to write big checks to Perry’s campaign and to the 501 c4′s that will support his positions.

Yup! The Public Education Sytems in many places has resulted in irrepairable brain damage to millions (along with federal give-away programs).

Obozo’s numbers are still so high because, well, so many people still would like to believe in the mirage they were sold on in 2008. Personally, I think the numbers are reflecting some people’s fears of being thought of or called “racist” for not supporting the light brown guy.

Too many people didn’t pay. attention. Obozo keeps going on the way he is, though, and more people will start waking up.

I’ll take Perry or Bachmann over Romney and Huntsman (who IS this guy??). Hopefully Perry will be dynamic enough to snag the nomination. (I’ve got issues with the man, but they shouldn’t interfere with his ability to lead as POTUS.)

Interesting that the “Generic Republican candidate” is doing the best at 48-40%. The numbers all drop when names are put for that candidate. That means that people want Obama out, but aren’t really sold on the alternatives, especially Bachmann and Romney.

If you are wishing for Perry, be careful what you wish for.

The MSM is digging dirt on Perry with front end loaders and they are bound to find dirt.

He will have to explain the state’s huge debt and if he can’t, he isn’t going to have much to say about the national debt, is he?

We really don’t have a lot to choose from. 2012 will be the following choices: evil or lesser evil.

    Choose one, whoopie.

Perry if nothing else is a patriotic person that loves America. Thats more than anyone can say about the Muslim American hater in our WH right now.

GO PERRY and I do hope he picks RUBIO for his running VP.

I believe I indicated that I don’t like any of the declared runners and you would have figured that out if you had read past the part that pissed you off. I like looking at Palin but that’s about it.

A lot of people are peeing their collective pants over Perry because he is a Christian, anti-abortion and supposedly a staunch conservative. Big whoop, I want someone that can deliver the country out of the Obama induced depression, not just talk about it.

Texas ain’t doing that great and that will be revealed in the final, front end loader, analysis.

If it’s Perry against Obama, you can bet your ass I will vote for Perry.

  15. MADgirl91 says:

I’m voting for the most likely to beat Obama, and right now that looks like Perry.

Dirt digging is all Obama’s campaign has, so we need a candidate who knows how to fight hard and win.

Perry is the antidote to Obama this country needs.

  16. Fukitol says:

I would vote for Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, or Snoopy (in that order) long before before I would vote for Obama. I and a Tea Party Member and I would not vote for Obama, it has nothing to do with the color of his skin color, or the fact that he is not truly eligible to be the President. It is because Socialism or Communism has never worked.

We defeated Russia in the Cold War, and we defeated Germany in World War II, both of which were Socialist Style Governments. Now we need to defeat the Progressives, Socialist, and Communist in America, before they destroy this country!

And Rubio is not qualified to be President., which he must be in order to be vice president. I thought this before, and then was told I was wrong, but upon checking, I was right. He is not a natural born citizen any more than Obama. His folks were NOT citizens at the time of his birth. And according to the Constitution, his folks must be citizens.
Sorry, I think he would be great also, but illegal.

  20. Shadowblitz70 says:

What do you mean, first time??

Weve been seeing poll after poll showing repubs beating Obama, and especially the polls that were “any generic republican” beating obama.

This is why I dont like polls. One day they will tell you its black, then next poll tells you its white.

  21. Shadowblitz70 says:
    September 1, 2011 at 1:06 pm

Tanya, you need to go re-read the Constitution.

Your parents dont have to be citizens, YOU do. As in, YOU were born here.

  22. merrimac says:
    September 1, 2011 at 1:33 pm

I’d like to see this “41 percent”

If his poll #s are the worst ever I don’t see how it could possibly be 41%

    Jay Leno –
“The rhetoric is heating up between Republicans Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. These two do not like each other. Perry has opposed many of Romney’s positions – but to be fair, so has Romney.”

Tanya your right. Your parents have to be naturalized citizens when you are born to be considered an eligible candidate for president. The framers did this to avoid foreign entanglements and issues of loyalties. Obama circumvented the law with help from his cronies, media, crooked government agencies and courts.

One choices if you say you are truly a Constitutionalist are as follows:

    2-Michelle Bachman
    3-Herman Cain

  27. IMAgassed says:

Yes there will be a tremendous amount of dirt thrown in 2012, but Obama is very vulenrable, and the MSM will be less able to protect him when we unite behind a candidate, the checkbooks come out, and the gloves come off. As for Perry….he isn’t my first choice, but my first choice can’t win. Instead of electing someone who can reverse the damage the libtards have done, we may have to settle for someone who stop the forward momentum, and go on from there.
As for Perry vs. Romney-Perry has warts, Romney has leprosy.

Rassmussen has had Obama at stable levels mostly between 46-47 for ages & rarely drops .

I suggest they need to do a reboot. They are extremely predictable on many fronts & from what WZ would agree -the American public is unstable & frightened.

The actions of this admin do not look like they have good polling. If they had 47% Rass they would be happy .They would figure they can pick up the 4% needed in new young voters.

They know they have lost too much to make it up with the next voter registration push.

I don’t think they fear Perry as much as Palin or even Romney for Perry is only a convenience republican . SP joined at 18 & Perry saw the light at 42 years of age. He sat through Carter & Reagan a Dem !
