Obama’s Job Speech The Lowest Rated Of His Presidency…

It’s almost like people are sick of listening to him.

(Washington Examiner) — President Obama’s jobs speech represented the lowest ratings he’s received for any address to a joint session of Congress of his presidency.

The speech garnered 31.5 million viewers, according to the website TVbythenumbers, which was slightly lower than his Sept. 2009 health care speech to Congress, which drew 32.1 million viewers and is probably the fairest comparison.

But viewed against other addresses to Congress, it looks worse, and is part of a broader downward trend.

During his first speech to a joint session of Congress in February 2009, Obama drew 52.4 million viewers. His first official State of the Union Address on January 2010 drew 48 million viewers and this year’s SOTU had 42.8 million.

He used an angry, confrontational tone. It was like watching Don Knotts get pissed off. Just doesn’t work.

“It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation.

The erosion of our confidence in the future is threatening to destroy the social and the political fabric of America.”

    - President Jimmy Carter, ‘Malaise’ Speech, July 15, 1979

    Hey Obama:

“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned – this is the sum of good government.” – Thomas Jefferson

    Read Jefferson, not Marx.

    @Pendog

The new IMF chief said almost exactly the same thing recently. What we’re hopefully witnessing is the collapse of a reckless ideology.

Just how many times did Obama use the word “Crisis” yesterday?

SPIEGEL: Ms. Lagarde, the global economy is slowing, markets are volatile and banks have all but ceased lending each other money. Does the situation remind you of 2008 just before the investment bank Lehman Brothers collapsed?

Lagarde: Each moment in history is different from previous situations and it’s wrong to try to draw comparisons. At the International Monetary Fund, we see that there has been, particularly over the summer, A CLEAR CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE that has seriously aggravated the situation. Measures need to be taken to ensure that this vicious circle is broken.

    1) There was nothing of substance in the speech. It was all platitudes.
    2) The platitudes have been heard over and over and over again.
    3) The tough guy talk did come across like Don Knotts (good one Jimco!)
    4) This was really a campaign speech because Obama doesn’t know ho to plan anything. A “community organizer” is nothing but a paid revolutionary agitator.

Zip, glad to hear this speech is tanking in the polls. You’re the first I’ve seen to cover this.

Republicans were wise not to respond to Obama’s ridiculous speech with its twenty+ calls to “pass the bill now” as if he were reciting some hypnotic suggestion.

Reading between the lines, the dick really said, Congress just raised the debt ceiling but there isn’t much headroom so I only have 1/2 a trillion this time to fritter away. So I will transfer all of that money to my base and buy votes for the upcoming elections. As soon as that money is distributed, you can be sure TOTUS and I will be back to raise the debt ceiling again, and scaremongering as usual, we got to raise the dept ceiling or else Social Security and the troops will not be paid, the country will default. And the cycle repeats.
