Slate Lefty Dave Weigel Remembers The True Victims Of 9/11: The Dixie Chicks And Michael Moore…

Good grief, someone smack some sense into this knob.

Get Krugman! — Slate, Dave Weigel

Early on Sunday morning, as the rest of NYTimes.com was turned over to 9/11 anniversary, Paul Krugman vented his spleen. Years of columns were condensed into a few pithy lines. “What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful,” he wrote. “The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.”

These were sentiments he’d expressed before, but he knew they’d set people off. He turned off the comment section. “I didn’t have time to sift through the predictable vast pile of obscene and threatening stuff looking for the rare entries that were fit to print,” Krugman says. So the reaction occurred away from the blog, on Twitter and in other columns. Jennifer Rubin accused him of “hatred and contempt for his countrymen.

. . . On a day when everyone else was flashing back to 9/11/2001, I was flashing back to the days and months later, when criticism of the Bush administration returned, and the practioners of it became, briefly, Emmanuel Goldsteins. Remember Susan Sontag? Remember the Dixie Chicks? Remember the campaign to “revoke the Oscar” from Michael Moore? There hasn’t been much criticism of the substance of Krugman’s remarks; denying that 9/11 and counterterrorism strategy became “wedge issues” is denying a few years of political history. The criticism is of Krugman for expressing it. He brushes the criticism right off.

Just when you think the demtards can’t possibly get any stupider… they do. Next thing you know, Michael Moore will be suing McDonalds because the booths are no big enough for his fat arse.

You can’t slap any sense into them…. What they need are straight-jackets and a padded cell.

I wish Dave Weigel would have been a victim too then. I wish he was a has-ben also. Actually, he is a never-was. Before this I had never heard of him

These “Dixie Hicks” are impressive, the music is good, without their teleprompter
they are just a bunch of dead ducks.

Once again proving that liberals are not patriotic. Face it libs. You do not love your country if this is the type of BS you tolerate among your “journalists.”

Sorry, Dave, but free speech doesn’t mean “free from consequences.” You don’t get to shoot off your trap and then hide behind free speech to avoid criticism from those who were offended by your remarks. The campaign for Michael Moore’s Oscar was largely due to the fact that he LIED in his documentary “Bowling for Columbine.” I dont’ care if SpongeMike Sweatpants has an Oscar or not. Obama has a Peace Prize – both are meaningless. And as far as “profting” off the graves of the 9/11 victims – no one lined his pockets with the ashes more than that disgraceful slab of protoplasm Moore.

As for the Dixie Chicks – you want to say you’re ashamed the President is from Texas, fine with me. Unfortunately the rest of the country disagreed with you and no longer felt a need to support you by buying your albums and attending your concerts. Well my, my, my – doesn’t it suck to be you.

What did Krugman say that was worth refuting? All he did was whine about made up conspiracy theories, i.e. that Bush hijacked the atrocity to go around killing brown people. Is that something worth refuting? I don’t think so. I just think Krugman’s a moron for saying it.

You can’t put forth an “argument” that isn’t based on facts or solid logic, and then whine when people simply scoff at you and don’t bother to give a rebuttal to facts or logic you never had.

Leftists fail at this simple concept all the time.

Oh, and Krugman is an idiot for running his mouth and then refusing to allow comments. What kind of pussy does that?

Paul Krugman, apparently. Well, Fromma Harrop too, for those of you who remember her “civility” rant, which was poorly received to the point that she disallowed comments and deleted the scathing reviews that had already been posted.

Censorship is a trademark of the left.

I didn’t know that it was a columnist’s or an editor’s job to sift through the comments section and delete all the ones that the web site believed weren’t fit to print.

And yet another piece on how telling a leftist/liberal to eff-off is somehow “censorship” instead of free speech for the critic.

When a dog poops on the carpet, we don’t criticize the substance, (the poop), we criticize the dog. Krugman is a dog. So too is Weigel.
