If only it were that easy for President Barack Obama to get Congress to implement his agenda.
Many of Obama’s priorities have sputtered and stalled, and the president blames gridlock in Washington for the lack of progress that voters might hold over his head come next November. But the White House has signaled it is willing to use other options such as executive orders, administrative action at the agency level and a review of regulations to implement the president’s wishes without Congress on board.
In recent weeks Obama has exerted his executive authority on issues ranging from education to housing policy to the environment.
Obama signed an executive order granting a waiver for states wanting to opt out of No Child Left Behind. It’s a move backed by even GOP governors, and one that has broad support in Congress. But nothing happened legislatively, so the White House took matters into its own hands.
Obama overruled his Environmental Protection Agency by repealing an ozone regulation, and he’s commissioned Cass Sunstein, head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, to identify other regulations that can be tweaked or rolled back to save the government money or to relieve pressure on the lagging economy.
The administration also implemented several policies related to mortgage assistance and housing without Congressional action.
Will the American people see the president bypassing Congress more frequently?

There should be more specific circumstances for being able to use executive order and it should be extremely limited. He is becoming a dictator and no one is stopping him.

@fubar: Thank You for posting that link. It is informative & I was not aware of this from the EPA previously. As a common American citizen seeing this type of action is really concerning to me. I (along with a whole lot of other American’s) are no doubt wanting to be responsible about having clean water, air, food and such. But there gets to be that fine line that is crossed far too far & I tend to think this is an example. There are many aspects to this that concern me: #1) If this is supposedly being targeted toward the smaller establishments, which will eventually run them out of business, it puts our whole food safetly line in jeopardy. When processing plants are concentrated into just a few monstrosities this allows for a much easier target. #2) I already know of beef farmers opting out of the business because of increasing rules and restrictions. Which further passes increased costs to the consumers.
The agriculture community is being hit hard with all kinds of this type of thing. From dust control, to bovine gas emmisions, to this about hay….etc.
Again, as I stated earlier, I’m sure we all appreciate cleaner air, water, & things we consume. However, this is veering off into directions not at all sensible from my standpoint of view.

On the other hand, this past Christmas, I had watched a youtube vid about a hog industry (somewhere in one of the Southern States) that kept farrowing hogs in such terrible confined quarters for months at a time. I have not heard squat about the EPA having concerns of this. They are most likely a part of the whole deal allowing it!
When I saw those hogs so squished in tight confines all I could think was their cortisol levels are probably sky high (pigs can fly) so I think I would opt out of having any of those hogs for dinner.
There again, the smaller pig farmers and such can not maintain business because of increasing overhead costs & on & on. But a monolith hog business such as that one…well, who knows what all deals are under the table on that one. (?!?!?!?!?)

we personally know some farmers that have gone out of business from regulations. NOt just a handful. DOZENS. becuase their barns were not outfitted correctly and their pens were TOO BIG. yes. the retardeness of green weenie zealots dictating how animals should be raised when they have never done it THEMSELVES. i have to say that most “corporate farms” have managers that don’t give a shit. they go home after 8 hours. the small farmer has vested interest in keeping his animals healthy, well cared for. it’s what puts food on his table.
and don’t get me started on PETA with what they do to ambush farmers on tape supposedly “mistreating” their animals. makes me sick.

Another angle being used is property valuation. We own 40 acres. Just received a notice from IRS that we owed $1500. No explanation, but threat to take our land in ten days if it wasn’t paid. My husband paid it. Never had our tax return questioned before.
Today got a letter from county auditor. Our home has been valued at $30,000 more than our previous valuation, even though no one in the area has been able to sell their home and homes in the area have dropped an average of 5-6%. The real kicker though… They increased the value of our cropland from approx $117,000 to $1,170,000! They’re trying to tax us off of our land.
The arrogance of this man is simply beyond explanation.
If he does this, he can’t blame Bush for his own Incompetence anymore. I say let him try and let History be the judge of him. Even though he is by-passing Congress, there is still the matter of the Supreme Court to Deal with. (Remember the 3rd Branch of our 3 Branches of the Government?). I have a feeling that Justice Clearance Thomas and the other 3 Conservatives will let Obama have just enough Rope to hang himself and will then get involved to stop him once and for all. Granted, I am getting upset that there has been NO Word from them except for Clearance Thomas stating that They will NOT touch Obama’s Eligibility.
