Turkish PM Orders Radar System Of American-Made F-16s Overridden To Allow Attacks On Israeli Targets…

Time for another military coup in Turkey.

(Ynet) — Turkey has developed a new radar system for its US-made F-16 fighter jets that will allow them to fire at Israeli targets, Ankara’s Star Gazete reported on Tuesday. The orders to modify the system reportedly came directly from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s office.

The new radar system — Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) — is a defensive command and control system developed by Turkey’s Military Electronics Industry (ASELSAN) for the nation’s air force and navy. It is slated to replace a similar US version which is in use today.

The US system is comprised of lists of “friends” and “foes.” The system’s settings are designed to prevent pilot error as well, to an extent, disabling the ability to fire at “friendly” targets even by mistake. The US system identified Israel as a ‘friend,’ thus preventing Turkish fighter jets from firing at them automatically.

The new system, however, allows Turkey control the “friend or foe” list independently.

The Turkish IFF system is scheduled to be mounted on all Turkish fighter jets, military vessels and submarines in the near future.

The move, whose timing coincides with a prolonged period of unprecedented diplomatic tensions between Ankara and Jerusalem, has received extensive media coverage in Iran, as well.

Go right ahead and turn off the IFF features. When you do, it will activate a hidden counter in the operating system that will cause all on-board ordnance to detonate when the aircraft reaches the altitude of 14,000 feet.

Yup Foreign aid to our enemies is a very good idea people! Just keep on doing it and the other nations will keep making us look like fools by attacking us with weapons funded by our own money. The dollar never looked so strong.

This is exactly why I argued against arming Muslim nations with our weapons years ago. I don’t care how “friendly” they seem a the time.

    Completely ridiculous policy.

We are getting closer to WW3. Erdogan led Turkey, nuclear armed Pakistan, and a soon to be nuclear armed Iran all spell trouble for the West. And yes, it really IS about political and religious ideology differences.

“Time for another military coup in Turkey.”

That would be great, but Turkey’s secularist military has been compromised by a heavy infusion of pro-Erdogan troops. Several Kemalist generals resigned recently.

God, we need an ALL new administration in Washington if Isreal expects any help from the US. Under oboma and his corrupt people, thier just another force bent on the distruction of Isreal. Isreal better not wait to take out Iran’s missle sites because the momentum is growing in the Arab world to destroy them.

Erdogan is just grandstanding for domestic political purposes. Turkey won’t start a war with Israel.

However, it’s animosity towards Israel might encourage Egypt to change its tune.

The war of Gog and Magog is when Turkey will attempt to destroy Israel along with Russia and Iran. It is my personal belief (as I attempt to interpret the Word) that before the war of Gog and Magog Israel will destroy all of the surrounding islamic nations leaving Israel weakened, and as the cowards that they are they will take advantage of the situation. Unfortunately for them Israel’s protector will look after the rest. We truly live in amazing times.

    I don’t agree, Poopy.
Erdogan has taken up the nationalist mantle left behind by Nasser of Egypt. (Remember Nasser was pro-Nazi and Turkey allied with Germany in WWI and the Nazis in WWII.) Erdogan is openly competing with A-jad for the leadership of a revitalized caliphate, ripped apart by the Allies during WWI. Destroying Israel (G-d forbid) would pave the way.

What worries me very much are the positions of NATO and the anti-Israel US regime’s State Dept., which has been openly courting Islamist Turkey, even so far as just now creating together a “counter-terror” organization, the GCTF. And just who is involved with the GCTF?
The 30 founding members of the GCTF are: Algeria, Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt/b>, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Agreed. My first thought upon reading the headline was Ezekiel’s Gog/Magog War– thanks for posting your thoughts about that. YHWH will fight for The Land and will eventually judge the nations who have fought against Israel. I don’t recommend an adversarial relationship with the Lord of Hosts……

    An additional note:
This GCTF “counter-terror” organization excludes Israel, the one country with advanced counter-terror experience and who hosts one of the most highly visible annual counter-terror forums in the world, the ICT http://www.ict.org.il/.

IFF recognized descrete transponder codes and thats all. Friendlies will use a certain block of codes and all else are enemies.

The only advantge possible here is if the Turkish codes are not perceivable by the Israelis.

Israeli advantage is the homefront while the Turks may have to midair refuel…which makes tankers juicy targets.

If I were a Turkish F16 pilot, I’d think long and hard before engaging Israeli aircraft.

Tweaking on what my boss said this morning: Those Turkish F16 pilots better make sure their ejection seats are in good working order. They better practice swimming as well. Turkey is a long swim from Israel.

  32. Templar223 says:

I don’t believe the old guard in the Turkish military has the internal support necessary for a coup. Even if it did executing a coup due to increased hostility towards the juice would be seen as cowardly and anti-islamic even in Turkey’s semi-secular society.

  38. Tadpole says:
    September 14, 2011 at 12:00 am

I read this in a Stratfor email today – “Iran is trying to counter a growing U.S.-Turkish alignment …”

So how does this work – the U.S. / Turkey relationship is growing and strengthening at the very same time that Turkey is threatening war with Israel? This seems to imply that the current U.S. administration is also a threat to Israel – and maybe NATO as well?

If O senses that he will not survive the 2012 election, he might want to leave a Jewish-free Middle East as his final legacy.

  39. WhiteFalcon1 says:
    September 14, 2011 at 8:53 am

Then the Isreali’s will develop the ‘reverse’ IFF, which will be by satellite, indicate the friendlies as enemies and theyll begin shooting themselves out of the sky…thats something I do Pay for View for!!!

@tempest: Im with you…they already know from ’67 whats going to happen they try to head to head with the Isreali’s….just going to be part II!

@D.Austin: Withdraw my ass…detonate that shit in place!!! Problems solved!!!
