Fremont, CA, March 20, 2009 — Solyndra, Inc. announced today that it is the first company to receive an offer for a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) loan guarantee under Title XVII of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Solyndra, a Fremont, California-based manufacturer of innovative cylindrical photovoltaic systems, will use the proceeds of a $535 million loan from the U.S. Treasury’s Federal Financing Bank to expand its solar panel manufacturing capacity in California.
“The leadership and actions of President Barack Obama, Energy Secretary Steven Chu and the U.S. Congress were instrumental in concluding this offer for a loan guarantee,” said Solyndra CEO and founder, Dr. Chris Gronet. “The DOE Loan Guarantee Program funding will enable Solyndra to achieve the economies of scale needed to deliver solar electricity at prices that are competitive with utility rates. This expansion is really about creating new jobs while meaningfully impacting global warming.”

This is a criminal enterprise. There should be an independent prosecutor to investigate this. We should know where the more than 1/2 bullion went. I suspect that this was a money laundering enterprise.

Personally RESPONSIBLE for getting Solyndra the loan. Why do I even think the Republicans will run with this easy chestnut? They squander every opportunity they’re given to stop this administration.

- FoxNews online reports four big companies went belly up and all had received stimulus funds. And three of them were green energy boondoggles.
- Drudge Report reported today that inflation is up, foreclosures are up, and jobless numbers are up.
This is just ONE day. And what does Obama do? Announces he’s doubling down on green energy loans. Hooray! He’s doing our work for us! Stand back and let him take the Democrats into the abyss.

It’s just like back in Chicago, one of Blago’s stunts was taking kickbacks to award construction contracts for bike lanes and other “green” initiatives built with money jacked from Illinois taxpayers- I’m sure he could have cared less if there were bike lanes or not, all that ever perked his interest was the skim.
But the solution is simple enough: ONLY the market should be deciding what companies survive, not Barack Obama (or anybody else)- then we don’t have these kind of problems!
