Report: Romneycare Has Cost Mass More Than 18,000 Jobs…

And Mittens still defends this plan as being “right for Massachusetts.”
Comments & pings are closed.(Boston Herald) — The Bay State’s controversial 2006 universal health-care plan — also known as “Romneycare” — has cost Massachusetts more than 18,000 jobs, according to an exclusive blockbuster study that could provide ammo to GOP rivals of former Gov. Mitt Romney as he touts his job-creating chops on the campaign trail.
“Mandating health insurance coverage and expanding the demand for health services without increasing supply drove up costs. Economics 101 tells us that,” said Paul Bachman, research director at Suffolk University’s Beacon Hill Institute, the conservative think tank that conducted the study. The Herald obtained an exclusive copy of the findings.
“The ‘shared sacrifice’ needed to provide universal health care includes a net loss of jobs, which is attributable to the higher costs that the measure imposed,” said David Tuerck, the institute’s executive director.
“The United States is looking down the barrel of this with national health-care reform,” Bachman told the Herald, noting that Massachusetts’ first-in-the-nation heath-care overhaul — a hallmark of the Romney administration — was a template for President Obama’s national health-care law.

romneycare / obamacare is a death sentence for the elderly
The dude is out of touch and again as I have said before, PERRY is not the answer either. Both could beat OBONGO but at what cost? I am aggitated that of all the R’s out there, we can’t find a candidate that isn’t a closet RINO.
I’m about to put my dog up as a candidate. He protects “the homeland”. He is vigilant of strangers foreign and domestic that would bring harm on the family. He also creates as good of legislation as the bozo’s in DC in the backyard but it’s not cloaked in 2300 pages of deception.
Cowdude
… … Mittens still defends this plan as being “right for Massachusetts.”
It’s simple.
He must hate Massachusetts.

Whenever I see a photo of Mitt I swear I can smell toast burning…….
I’m not a Mitt defender. In fact I will not vote for him. But in fairness this report by Cato was published over 3.5 years ago. It smells of mold. What I want to know is what is going on with this in 2011.
Here is the Claim from the Boston paper:
““Romneycare” — has cost Massachusetts more than 18,000 jobs, according to an exclusive blockbuster study that could provide ammo to GOP rivals of former Gov.
The Herald obtained an exclusive copy of the findings.”
Note an “exclusive” report. But Cato also found 18,000 jobs lost in 2008. What a koinkidence! does this mean there have been 18,000 x 3.5 =63,000 jobs lost in Mass since the program began or are they rehashing the Cato report?
Unintended consequence of the mandated policy: by dumping more people onto the system, the system clogged, and ER services/costs ROSE 7%.
Go figure.
