Obama: Americans Must “Pay Their Fair Share” To Cover My Stimulus Plans…
Of course he’s the one who determines what’s “fair.”
(Reuters) — President Barack Obama said on Saturday that Americans need to be ready to “pay their fair share” to narrow the deficit, previewing his proposals to Congress that are expected to include more taxes on the rich.
In his weekly radio and video address, the Democrat said his $447 billion jobs plan that features tax breaks for workers and small businesses, plus funds for public works projects and schools, “will not add to the deficit. It will be paid for.”
“On Monday, I’ll lay out my plan for how we’ll do that — how we’ll pay for this plan and pay down our debt by following some basic principles: making sure we live within our means and asking everyone to pay their fair share.”
Obama has repeatedly argued for the wealthiest Americans to face higher taxes with fewer loopholes and exceptions as part of the effort to ensure the U.S. debtload remains in control.

I don’t think its fair that congress and senate people get such huge salaries, automatic raises, huge pensions and the best medical care that we the people pay for. Let’s see…last year I paid 18% in federal tax, 8% in state tax, 7.65% in medicare/social security tax. 6% sales tax on every last thing I purchased. 8% of my income to property tax ($2200 this year). Then there are the taxes on my utility bills every month to some government entity. Vehicle registration fees. Additional fees to enroll the kids in public school. Gasoline tax, parking meters, day use fee at the state park. I am sure there are more.
Add this all up and it is close if not at 50% of what I earn. I make less than $100,000 per year.
Tell me Ovomit…what is my fair share? Because I consider half of my earnings to government to be more than enough!

Let’s do some math shall we… The TARP (Troubled Asset Recover Plan) legislation was close to $800 billion (yes, billion with a “B”) and was designed to reduce the burden of “troubled assets” and keep “good hard working honest patriotic Americans in their homes” of which none to very little of it actually went towards doing just that. So…$800 billion basically propped up the US economy for three years which means $447 billion (again, billion with a “B”) should buy this administration roughly a year and a half without another horrible downturn or economic collapse. Thus insuring a second term and a “who cares what happens after that?” lame-duck session.
I remember when the first TARP (uh uhm, finacial bailout) failed to pass back in ’08… Remember? All of the “concerned” representatives rushing towards the news cameras and screaming “see, see, there you go America! We did what you wanted and now the market’s down 777 points”. Ohhhh good times, good times… Translation: “a gravy train is rollin’ through Washington and we haven’t had enough time to hop on board”. Fast forward a week and 451 pages later…they got on board.
Yep, can’t wait to see all the new “temporary” jobs this magnificent piece creates. But what about all of the Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical Engineers (myself included)? What about all of the Computer Science majors, the Systems Analysts, the Executive & Assistant Secretaries, the small business owners, and the Real Estate Agents? Not all of us are young enough or physically able to swing a hammer or pave roads. Good times, good times!

My son was in the military, two wars , when I meet military people and talk to them I always ask who side will you be on. Most say the American people, the others i try to reason with them because they just repeated the oath and really don’t know what it means. The young ones do better believe it or not maybe because of the internet. Keep the faith reach everyone you can.
