Poll: 48% Say Unions Are No Longer Needed, Only 30% Believe They Still Have a Role…

Unions are a cancer and should be treated as such.

(Rasmussen) — Half of American Adults (48%) think labor unions have outlasted their usefulness, but there’s a sharp difference of opinion between Republicans and Democrats on the question.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 30% disagree and say that unions have not outlived their role. Twenty-one percent (21%) are not sure.

These findings are consistent with attitudes found two years ago. At that time, 45% said labor unions actually make America weaker, while 26% believed they make the country stronger and 13% said they have no impact.

Yet while 68% of Republicans and 54% of adults not affiliated with either of the major political parties believe unions have outlived their usefulness, 52% of Democrats still see a need for them.

Among working Americans who do not belong to a union, just 13% would like to join a labor union where they work. That’s up slightly from nine percent in March 2009.  Seventy-eight percent (78%) would not like to join a union.

    Time to quit forcing workers to join unions in order to hold a job

    Unions in private companies are bad news, but at least it’s more of a fair fight.

    Public sector unions, however, are total parasites on the unwary taxpayer. They are bankrupting California (along with the millions of illegal alien moochers), but naturally the all-Democrat state government is not interested in reform, only more taxes.

    The United States of America IS A UNION!

    Would the UAW, the Teamsters, or the SEIU tolerate a sub-group forming within their own ranks? Political power has already been structured by our founding charter to respect the LEGITIMATE divisions of of the American population. They’re called ‘States’. You could say that ‘states’ are the OFFICIALLY AUTHORIZED ‘Special Interest’ groups of the American union. And every individual member of this “American Union” is supposed to have a guarantee of the same rights and privileges as every other member, regardless of their connection to government officials.

    The point is that Americans are already protected by a ‘Liberty Collective. Labor Unions simply don’t have the authority to enact the laws needed to protect the rights of “workers” (why not everyone?), they can only promise to help enforce the laws that government makes. Every lawyer makes a living by making that same promise.

    The only rights that Americans have, and the only rights that are outlined in the US Constitution are INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. Black rights, White rights, or Workers rights, simple don’t exist. We don’t hand out rights based on the group a person belongs to.

    Look at the size of that rat! Holy shit!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    From Inside Edition:
    When night falls on the Big Apple, hordes of rats race out to feast. And you might be surprised where these rat parties are taking place.
    A beautiful park is filled with kids at play every day, but what many parents don’t know is that the park is also swarming with rats every night.
    When the INSIDE EDITION Rat Patrol visited historic Tompkins Square Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side we spotted hundreds of rats climbing, crawling, scurrying and scaling everything from trash cans to park benches. They have even infested the trees.
    The infestation here has gotten so bad the disease spreading rodents have colonized the playgrounds as well.
    “I’m speechless. That’s absolutely disgusting,” said one frequent park-goer when we told her about the problem.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And I heard the Rat Union is very powerful in New York City.

    An example of the attempt to restructure the American system can be seen in the European Union.

    Many on the left like to compare the US to the separate countries of Europe, to France, or Germany, or Spain, or whatever. But the comparison is more accurately made to the European Union as a whole.

    European critics of the European Union have complained that their nation has sold out it’s sovereignty to Brussels (the seat of the EU). I believe that we’re now seeing the result of the eroding of the borders between the separate EU states. It’s brought them to near economic collapse. It has allowed each state to victimize other states through the mismanagement of the Union.

    If we ignore states rights in the USA, the same thing will happen here…….IS happening here.

    The United States of America was born with the declaration, but it’s first structure was outlined in the ‘Articles of Confederation of the Perpetual UNION’.

    At that time, the American people were so fed up with the “protections” offered by King George that they decided to base their new system on the mutual protection of their individual liberties. They realized that no ‘Elite Central Planner’ in a far-off place could manage their labor as well as they could manage it themselves. They didn’t need a business manager to succeed. Besides that, they simply couldn’t afford the rates he was changing for the MANDATORY SERVICE he was providing,

    They came to the conclusion that ‘fairness’ has no monetary value. It could not be calculated by observing the product of someone’s labor. The ‘Social Contract’ they created was NOT a financial arrangement. They understood that government cannot guarantee that everyone will be a winner, but that it could guarantee that everyone could be a loser.

    “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the EQUAL SHARING OF MISERY.”

    - Winston Churchill

    I am a retired teacher from Detroit Public Schools. The administration of that particular school district has always been incompetent and always looked out for themselves before anyone else, handing out sweetheart deals as fast as they could. The treated the students and teachers like garbage. I could not imagine working there without the union to back up and intercede for me when necessary. Sure, they made certain that we had good pay and benefits. We deserved them. But they were also there when we were treated unfairly. I think people who cry about unions having too much power are jealous that they don’t have a union to help them.

    I detest almost all forms of unionization especially in the public sector. Once necessary they are now passe. You don’t keep taking antibiotics once the infection is gone either. I blame much of the troubles of GM on management as well as unions. After all it was a weak management that bowed to their demands. They should have busted them years ago. There are only a handful of unions that I think should exist and that is for those employed in dangerous jobs like miners especially, fire and police. At least police unions stand with officers under investigation. All the rest can go to hell.
