Rahm on Solyndra: “I don’t actually remember”

(TDC) — Chicago mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said he doesn’t recall anything about the Obama administration’s $535 million loan to the recently bankrupt solar company Solyndra.
Speaking to Chicago radio station WLS 890AM at a news conference about a new wellness initiative, Emanuel said he didn’t remember anything about the failed investment loan by the Department of Energy, which critics say was fast-tracked to fit the White House’s political agenda.
“Ya know, I’m focusing on a major announcement today for the City Of Chicago,” Emanuel said. “I don’t actually remember that or know about it. So, what I’m dealing is with what I’m dealing with here today.”
Emanuel was Obama’s chief of staff during the administration’s green energy initiative in 2009, when the Solyndra loan was finalized.
E-mail communications from the White House obtained by the House Energy and Commerce Committee point to more involvement in the deal than perhaps Emanuel would care to remember.
The vice president was scheduled to announce the closure of the Solyndra deal on Sept. 4, and several e-mails show pressure from the White House to approve the loan.
In one e-mail, an assistant to Emanuel wrote on Aug. 31, 2009 to the Office of Management and Budget about the administration’s upcoming announcement on Solyndra and asked whether “there is anything we can help speed along on OMB side.”

Rahm was the machete man for Obama. If members of the Congressional Investigative Committee look hard enough, I’ll bet they find chops marks on the necks of certain DOE and OMB bureaucrats.

Obama has already had his Treasury and Holder’s FBI drones pick up all the evidence regarding Solyndra. And, of course, the wealthy bundlers aren’t going to spill the beans, when doing so would cost them the millions of dollars they are going to recover from the bankruptcy, and a possible prison term.
So, unless one of the bureaucrats breaks down and brings out his/her secret copies of explicit communications between the White House and the DOE or Treasury, I would say we’re screwed on that one.
I would love to say that Fast and Furious is a good bet. Unfortunately, Holder is the only one likely to take a direct hit on that one. Not that I mind getting rid of Holder. But it would be so nice if BOTH the Boobsie Twins could spend more time with “their” people.

I saw that article at NRO. Unfortunately, as it says, the initial offering of public stock did not make it. Therefore, unfortunately, Obama and his gang cannot be charged with securities fraud.

Katherine, that’s not they way I read it. Sounds like the act of misrepresenting a company’s value constitutes the crime, no matter the outcome. And there is the separate matter of putting private investors’ interests before the taxpayers’, another illegal act.
As for the document trail–aren’t documents now backed up electronically, making shredding paper docs a pointless act?

Not only did the Clinton (and staff) purge computers but all “W” keys were removed from typewriters and keyboards; just your usual highstrung Clintonian highjinks, don’t you know. The vandalism was so extreme that even though the Bush’s wanted to ignore it, staff insisted that a complaint be lodged. As a result some of the things that had “walked out” were returned.
Although several news articles later downplayed the “mischief”, according to factorfiction.com: “the final, official report from the Government Accounting Office was released on June 11, 2002. The 220 page document says there was damage, although not as much as some of the early reports had suggested. The GAO says the damage included 62 missing computer keyboards, 26 cell phones, two cameras, ten antique doorknobs and several presidential medallions and office signs.”
I didn’t really think much about it at the time but now, with what I know about BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) and the leftist lapdog media I’m sure things were much, much worse than they would have the public believe. So many things were downplayed during Clinton’s reign but I have learned there are different standards involved when judging the left and right. Thank heaven for Fox, Drudge, Breitbart for laying the foundation. I don’t know when Zip started WZ but I’m glad I stumbled onto it and now can’t get it out of my system. According to the WH Visitor Logs, Emanuel had a meeting with George Kaiser, in the West Wing, on 6/25/09 at 6pm.
According to visitor logs there were only 2 people at that meeting…the 2 people had to be Emanuel and Kaiser.
This Emanuel/Kaiser meeting was midway between the date of the DOE’s announcement that Solyndra was chosen to receive the first energy loan (March, 2009), and the date the loan closed and the Solyndra groundbreaking was held (September, 2009).
A normal person would assume that, during this time period, Solyndra would be utmost in the minds of the “money men”, and any conversations with regard to a $535 million loan would be remembered.
I guess no one in that WH could be considered a “normal person”.
