It might be a mistake to assume that all poor people are socialists.

Lot’s of people don’t measure success in life by the amount of ‘Stuff’ they have acquired. It’s only the socialists that do that.

Socialism is called ‘Historical Materialism’ for a reason. They like to assign a monetary value to to the concept of ‘liberty’. There is a big difference between wanting everyone to be equal and wanting everyone to the the same. Lefties don’t understand that.
