MSNBC Anchor: Republicans Think “Slavery Was Cool”…

No low is too low for MSNBC.

THOMAS ROBERTS: And the [Santorum] phrase of “social experimentation.” I get out of all of these things that many of these candidates would rather take legislation to build a time machine and go back in time to where, uh, we had, you know, no women voting, slavery was cool. I mean, it’s just kind of ridiculous.

They have used it so much that it lost its effectiveness

Demokkkrats started the KKK as their terror arm and lynched over 2,000 black and over 1,000 white REPUBLICANS. Up until this very minute, GOP has outvoted Dems on civil rights. The Dems also started Jim Crow.

The GOP was started specifically to END slavery. Lincoln was a Republican. He sacrificed 660,000 Americans, mostly white to end slavery…that sure doesn’t sound like he thought it was “cool”.

Nice try to rewrite history, Demonkkkrats, but it’s your baby, still is (look at Detroit!).

“Slavery was cool”. Where to begin on this: First off there were a whole lot of people that died in the Civil War and, for whatever peculiar reasons, the people that holler “racism” the most tend to forget that aspect of history. The whole lot of people that died in that war were (most of them) not slaveholders themselves whatsoever. So, to come away with this idear that “slavery was cool” than all they should think is that the death of their uncles, sons, brothers, neighors, etc. for their FREEDOM was “cool”? (that reads tangled up, but so is the logic of “slavery being cool”) Furthermore, there’s been a lot of slavery going on on the planet besides black slavery, too.

This whole deal of slavery, racism….it’s all an endless pit!

Yes, you got us. You really know your history libtard. Republicans think slavery is so cool they fought a war over it, then passed th 13, 14, 15 amendments (equal rights) without a single Democrat voting for any of them. They then went on to vote for Johnson’s civil rights laws when the Dems refused to.

And the liberal progressives? They’ve done?????? What?

We got rid of slavery before other nations. Great Britain still had slaves in 1812. In fact, they considered American citizens to still be their slaves… and they claimed every white American they found and made them their slaves.

But what’s incredibly worse is that today, in 2011, there are more human beings in slavery across the world than in all known history of the world. It is that bad. It is so bad that slaves are making some of the things you buy and you don’t even know it. It is so bad that slaves are working (by force and total servitude) on products and meals that you eat here in the USA. It is so bad that there are slaves in almost every city across the United States of America… and it is of course, so much worse in any other part of the world.

Do not give me a guilt trip about African-Americans having to come to America as slaves. Many of the white people came across as indentured servants. No matter how one came to this great country, it doesn’t freaking matter. What matters is everyone made it and everyone has the responsibility to defend the freedom that’s provided in our Constitution and ensure this country continues to grow as a free nation that continues to eradicate slavery in all of its forms.

The whole point of this comment is that slavery is worse than it ever has been. It is your responsibility to turn in slave shops/restaurants in your town and it is your duty to make sure you’re not buying slave-made products. It is worth paying more for goods you can be guaranteed aren’t from slave labor.

African American history is a procession of progress, mostly during Reconstruction period.
First civil right act was the 13th amendment, where 100% Republicans voted to end slavery and only 23% Democrats voted to end slavery.
The 11 states of the south that wanted to secede (separate) to preserve slavery.
Slavery was the cornerstone of the Confederacy.
Confederates didn’t want the freed slaves to be citizens of their states—which resulted in the creation of the 14th amendment.

Not a single democrat voted for the passing of the 14th amendment, which stated that a free slave is a citizen of that state.
Black’s right to vote was given by the 15th amendment.
All 7 first Blacks voted into Congress were Republicans.
Congress had to pass 23 civil rights laws to assure equal treatment to Black citizens.
KKK (Ku Klux Klan) was started in 1866 by Democrats to wipe out Republicans in office.

GOP just loves slavery. Without it, they’d a’never won the Presidency in the first place.

And, thusly, the reason all the Left are the Jack’s Ass Pary.

At “Big Tent” Convention in Buffalo NY. August 9, 1848, more than 10,000 men from all the northern states and thee border states met in a huge tent in a city park. The resulting Free Soil Party was built on a coalition of four elements: the previous Liberty Party, Free-Soil Democrats, Barnburners, and Conscience Whigs. The convention adopted a platform that called for:
Opposition to the extension of slavery into the territories
Support for national internal improvement programs
Support for moderate tariffs designed for revenue only
Support for the enactment of a homestead law.
This platform led to the presidential run of Of John C. Fremont

“Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Speech, Free Men, and Fremont”
    – John C. Fremont

Refers to the anti-slavery views of the Republican Party and Fremont.
So Morgan (Thank a Republican) “Free”man should just STFU.

Don’t be fooled. Lincoln ended slavery because the Confederacy would not succeed to the Union. It doesnt matter what party affiliation started slavery, it matters which one continues to oppress people now. No maybe most whites at that time would have used the word “cool” to describe slavery, but certainly saw it as convenient. And with these tough economic times I wouldn’t be surprised that the racist sect of the Republicans wish they could in fact turn back time. Political parties have their own agenda and I don’t think race is number 1; it’s protecting wealth and privilege. Slavery is why this country is so wealthy now. Imagine if 36 million Americans worked for free…
I hate when people are so stupid to think that this country is still colorblind, just ask Eduardo Bonilla-Silva.

And the idiotic comment from 86: If you think indentured servantry is as bad as the enslaving of Africans, you’re dumber than the anchor you criticized. Indentured servants were bound for 7 years. No one is asking you to take the blame as s white person, but don’t make ridiculous statements. Even after emancipation, Blacks were not treated as equals. Four hundred years of slavery with your identify and knowledge of your native land, bought and sold like an a product, being beaten, raped, bred, denied education for so long is not comparable to other “immigrants” situation. We cannot go back in time. What’s done is done. We need to all stop the racist, sexist, and classist nonsense and do right or our self destruction as a country is inevitable.

  37. CapnAngus says:

    @ Naomi

It is you who don’t know your history The British Navy, John Brown & The WHITE Abolitionist movement are who put an end to the International slave trade. It was Arab & Black Muslims who tried to keep the practice alive for well more than a century.

You should read Thomas Sowell’s Essay “The Real History of Slavery” some time. Follow that up with “Black Rednecks & White Liberals”

Time for you to get a reality check little sister.

It’s the powerlust of the Uncle Toms in the Democratic party (Congressional Black Caucus) & the agenda of the bigoted white liberal Progressives that is keeping the “Black Man Down”. (& Keeping him down with a purpose).

Daniel Patrick Moynahan was labeled a bigot for saying just that when the civil rights act was 1st passed. He said it would lead to the breakdown of the “Negro” Family & it has.

He said it would lead to generations of black men having their role in the community marginalized by the welfare dollar & it has.

You need to educate yourself & start thinking critically about what the end result of liberal social policies have been for Black Americans.

You aren’t actually naive enough to believe white liberals weren’t thinking generations ahead are you?

    Naomi one last point

If as you imply blacks in this country still haven’t been allowed to attain their rightful equal status; Why are their leaders (In the Congressional Black Caucus), not on the forefront in the Illegal Immigrant debate?

Considering access to better education, affordable housing, & a livable wage for low skill work seem to be the main complaints we so often here Black leaders ruminating about, I should think ridding this country of the chief rivals for the above needs would be priority #1…

Since the Congressional black Caucus is joined at the hip with La Raza, it logically follows that your argument about making up for the 400 years of bondage is specious at best. huh
