Former Obama Budget Director Peter Orszag: “We Need Less Democracy” To “Counter Gridlock”…
For those of you keeping track at home, this is the second Democrat calling for Obama to have dictator-like powers.
(TNR/Peter Orszag) — In an 1814 letter to John Taylor, John Adams wrote that “there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” That may read today like an overstatement, but it is certainly true that our democracy finds itself facing a deep challenge: During my recent stint in the Obama administration as director of the Office of Management and Budget, it was clear to me that the country’s political polarization was growing worse — harming Washington’s ability to do the basic, necessary work of governing. If you need confirmation of this, look no further than the recent debt-limit debacle, which clearly showed that we are becoming two nations governed by a single Congress — and that paralyzing gridlock is the result.
So what to do? To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.

Here we go again – Obama talks about how Democracy is messy, then talks about a National Emergency a couple weeks ago. His sycophants encourage him to make end runs around Congress and the Constitution. The governor of SC talks about suspending elections. This is no accident. They are moving forward with a new agenda and as the media continue to circle the wagons and make excuses for it, they will become bolder.

Once again, if given the choice, the majority of self described democrats would give up thier liberties and freedom with just a nudge for the “common good”.

Who can possibly be surprised by this? A disturbing pattern is beginning to take shape and don’t expect the jerkoffs in the MSM to notice. Dire predictions of food riots issued by the supporters and purveyors of this collectivist bastard’s world-view, now comes the inevitable call for an elimination of legislative opposition to a failed president’s failed policies.
I believe in the endgame Obama will ultimately commit the grievous error which will in turn be his undoing. Designed to be a complicated mess on purpose to inhibit the gathering of power. Our founders put too much faith on good people with their understanding following in their footsteps. New Amendments establishing term limits for congressional and judicial seats are now necessary as well as one making lobbying practices illegal. And if they want to pull this then fine we’ll do the convention route and bypass them all together as is our constitutional right and ability.
Maybe if they understood that we don’t live in a democracy but in a Constitutional Republic.

Folks, this argument of whether we live in a Democracy or a Republic or whatever is moot. The fact is, the current rulers see our system of government as a threat to their total control. To that end, they want it changed, suspended, or removed completely. THAT is the point here.
