Fatwa Alert: Hollywood Titan Frank Miller Releases 9/11 Comic “Holy Terror”…

The man behind The Dark Knight Returns, 300, Sin City, etc., said he wanted to “really piss people off” with Holy Terror and judging by this hyperventilating review by Wired, I’d say he hit his mark and then some.
Comments & pings are closed.Frank Miller doesn’t do things halfway. One of the true comic-book greats, he’s created several of the most extraordinary stories ever to grace the art form. So perhaps it’s fitting that now he’s produced one of the most appalling, offensive and vindictive comics of all time.
Holy Terror, Miller’s long, long, long-awaited statement on 9/11 and counterterrorism, hit comic book stores Wednesday. Longtime Miller watchers have viewed it with apprehension, hoping that his dark views about the source of that national trauma wouldn’t turn the comic into a vulgar, one-dimensional revenge fantasy. They were wrong. It’s even worse than that.
Miller’s Holy Terror is a screed against Islam, completely uninterested in any nuance or empathy toward 1.2 billion people he conflates with a few murderous conspiracy theorists. It’s no accident that it’s being released ten years after 9/11. This comic would be unthinkable during the unity that the U.S. felt after the attack.
Holy Terror, the inaugural offering from Legendary Comics, starts out with the Fixer, an ersatz Batman, enjoying a tryst with an ersatz Catwoman when they’re interrupted by a nail bomb. The culprit: a “humanities major” named Amina, an Islamist version of the psychopathic Rorschach from Watchmen, who sneers that the “haughty” skyline of Empire City is like “sharpened sticks aimed at the eyes of God.”
The Fixer’s response is to go to war — indiscriminately. “We give them what they want, minus the innocent victims,” the Fixer thinks as he opens fire. To bring the point home Miller draws 14 stereotypical Muslim faces around the righteous anti-hero. Naturally, the only way to learn more about the next attack is to torture a surviving terrorist — which Miller illustrates pornographically — even though the Scary Muslim says “pain means nothing to me,” so it’s not like the Fixer is torturing, you know, a human being.

Fixer for POTUS 2012. Get rid of the dhimmis amongst us.
Hell, I like this comic already.
Don’t own a single comic, but sounds like I’ll have to pick up a copy before the IEDs start detonating.
Sounds fine to me. Particularly since it seems to have brought forth a lot of unrighteous indignation from the oh so politically correct, Leftist propagandist “Wired”.
Interesting that the ACTUAL killing of innocent Americans causes only yawns from the left. But a cartoon that depicts some reciprocity, then the left goes ape-@#$%. I’ll buy a copy, if only to annoy the left!
Anybody else think the “humanities major” crack was what really offended the author?
Hit a little too close to home, I think.
This is too awesome.
ditto Dean . . .”. I’ll buy a copy, if only to annoy the left!”
It is a freaking comic book; I have a really hard time giving a shit one way or the other. Just because Hollywood thinks comics (and squeals) is the height of social commentary does not mean anyone else should.
Although I was happy to read that fanatical Islam has been so thourly defeated and is no longer of concern…
zip, please read my expose on spencer ackerman, he is the “journolist” reporter putting out the series of articles on wired forcing the FBI to drop counter terror training, he is also the author of this hit job:

If Wired hates it, it has to be good.
What, did the author of this story attend the *journalism* class at the Poynter Institute or something??
CAIR will be leaping into action i 3…2….1….
Here’s more about Miller’s new comic book from conservative sources instead of Whored, er, Wired including an interview about him/it by a conservative Canadian talk-show host:

They are the Red Coats, we are the red skins. Slaughter ensues. Have you heard about the novel Piece of Resistance?
Damn, I was hoping it would be Pigman. Oh, well.

I really hope they’re not talking about with muslims…
Wonder if Quentin Tarantino will make a movie out of it???
Well done, I say:
If Frank’s got those Wired techno doofus hipster’s underwear all in a bunch, he must have found the perfect pitch.
I think it took ten years because he wrote it as a Batman story, but after he finished it, the Batman people dropped it as too controversial.
@ozconservative
Movie…please…please…please! With lots of flying blood and limbs! And exploding turbins. And a little girl who was raped and grew up to take revenge on the evil masters…wait…that was part of Kill Bill minus Islam…OK go for it…I’ll buy it!
Where can I get it?
Sounds pretty realistic to me,
What’s Not? to Like?
@zmdavid
Mostly true. Miller wanted to do a Batman story where Batman goes after Bin Laden but DC wussed out on it. I don’t know if this is based on the same plot/story Miller intended for Batman or not. I will buy this comic.
Yup, I read on drudge YEARS ago it was supposed to be Batman madder than hell about the savages attacking gotham. Not a comic geek but there is a store near where I’m going today… *BAM!* *THWACK!*
Gee, the Left just luuuurved Miller’s nihilistic “Sin City”.
But now he’s going all David Mamet on them.
I predict that in the new few weeks, we’ll see tons of articles from the left denouncing him, and declaring he’s really not so great after all.
thesixfour, yes, I fear they are talking about Moslems. Unity with Islam trumps all. (At least for them).
Some super hero punching out some muslim terrors lights and saying THIS IS FOR SEPT 11th AND THE WORLD TRADE CENTER
I think it’s unicorn-wonderful the author knows with a fine certainty ever so much more about the Islamic terrorist situation than do the various military sources I frequent.
Hey Frank, I know you peruse sites like these, so major kudos to you and keep up the good work dude! This was really good timing by the way.
@ Rhinestone, I am thinking that Frank has never really been on the Left’s lovefest side of the aisle. Just the sheer existence of the “300″ sent them over the edge. Plus, Frank is an independent thinker, and does not really subscribe to people telling him what is pc, and what he should do.
Hmmm so in his Sin City comic/movie Frank had a catholic bishop hiding a serial killer/cannibal, and then his hero of this story tortures said bishiop to do death in both the comic and the movie adaptation, and the left says nothing.. but on let some muslims be tortured and/or killed and they squeal like goats in a Saudi Brothel.. so is it Mr. Miller who’s changed or just the acceptability of his target to the left?
