Report: Obama Had Off-The-Record Lunch With Black Media Commentators Including Sharpton, Asked For Their Help Motivating Voters…

Proud propagandists.
(Politico) — It was a speech intended to be a rousing call to arms for his 2012 re-election campaign and his jobs bill.
But when President Barack Obama told a gala dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus over the weekend that it was time to “stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying” and get to work, he instead gave new ammunition to some prominent African American critics who say the nation’s first black president gets tough only when he’s talking to other black people.
Three of the most prominent of them — Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Princeton professor Cornel West and talk show host Tavis Smiley — all criticized the speech, with Smiley setting the tone with his question: “How does he get away with saying this to black folk?”
But Obama pushed back hard. In a rare, one-on-one interview with a Black Entertainment Television reporter, he disputed the idea that such criticism was widespread, insisting there have been “only a handful of African-Americans who have been critical. They were critical when I was running for president. There’s always going to be somebody who is critical of the president of the United States.”
By the middle of this week, Obama’s sharp comments, the response from critics, and the debate and discussion they provoked in the black media seemed to mark yet another chapter in a relationship with African-Americans complicated from the beginning by questions about whether a mixed-race senator born in Hawaii was “authentically black” enough to win their support.
Last Friday, the day before his speech to the CBC, Obama hosted a private, off-the-record lunch with black commentators. The guest list included MSNBC host Al Sharpton, radio hosts Russ Parr and Michael Eric Dyson and White House reporter April Ryan, among others.
“It was an open and frank discussion,” said one of the participants, speaking under condition of anonymity since participation required confidentiality. Obama asked for their help motivating black voters because he is “very aware” that his support among them is slipping at the same time Republican opposition is growing.
“Folks are going against him and will continue to go against him,” the participant said, alluding to the president’s clashes with his African American critics as well as battles with Republicans. “But he is very convinced he’s going to win [in 2012]. That’s what I gleaned from it.”
Lefty Crank Janeane Garofalo: Republicans Supporting Herman Cain Because They Are Racist…
She is probably the most miserable person on the face of the Earth.
(RCP) — Janeane Garofalo: “Herman Cain is probably well liked by some of the Republicans because it hides the racist elements of the Republican party. Conservative movement and tea party movement, one in the same.
“People like Karl Rove liked to keep the racism very covert. And so Herman Cain provides this great opportunity say you can say ‘Look, this is not a racist, anti-immigrant, anti-female, anti-gay movement. Look we have a black man.’”
DNC Chief Wasserman Schultz Outraged GOP Plans To Investigate Planned Parenthood…

Nobody shrieks louder than Wasserman Schultz.
(Sun Sentinel) — South Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz accused Republican colleagues on Wednesday of launching a “burdensome and politically motivated, big-government investigation” of Planned Parenthood.
House Republicans led by Cliff Stearns of Ocala have requested details about how the women’s health organization keeps federal funds separate from abortion services.
The National Journal reported that Stearns, chairman of a House oversight committee, sent Planned Parenthood a six-page letter earlier this month detailing the committee’s request. House Republicans are trying to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding because it provides abortions, though federal funds are not used for that service.
“I am a strong supporter of congressional oversight, however, the scope and nature of this investigation is unprecedented, invasive, and the big-brother equivalent of a modern day denial-of-service attack,” said Wasserman Schultz, a Democrat from Weston.
“Republicans, having failed to strip funds for Planned Parenthood’s essential health-care services through the legislative process, now appear to want to bury Planned Parenthood under a broad and unwarranted political witch hunt.”
Euro-Weenies Upset With Obama: “Overbearing, Arrogant And Absurd”….

Quasi-socialist heartache.
(Spiegel Online) — US President Obama has given the Europeans a harsh lecture on the dangers of their ongoing debt crisis. Offended by the unsolicited advice, Europeans have suggested the US get its own house in order first. Obama’s remarks were “arrogant” and “absurd,” German commentators say on Wednesday.
Europeans are well aware of the seriousness of their ongoing debt crisis. But they don’t, it seems, like to receive lectures from other countries — especially the United States, which is struggling to deal with its own mountain of debt.
On Tuesday, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble curtly rejected recent American criticism of Europe’s approach to solving its debt crisis. “I don’t think Europe’s problems are America’s only problems,” said Schäuble, who has become increasingly sharp-tongued as the euro crisis deepens. “It’s always easier to give other people advice.”
Schäuble was referring to strongly worded comments made by US President Barack Obama and US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in recent days. At an event in California on Monday, Obama warned Europeans that their inaction was “scaring the world.” The Europeans, he said, “have not fully healed from the crisis back in 2007 and never fully dealt with all the challenges that their banking system faced. It’s now being compounded by what’s happening in Greece.” He continued: “They’re going through a financial crisis that is scaring the world, and they’re trying to take responsible actions, but those actions haven’t been quite as quick as they need to be.”
On Wednesday, German media commentators slam Obama’s criticism of Europe.
The mass-circulation Bild writes:
“Obama’s lecture on the euro crisis . . . is overbearing, arrogant and absurd. . . . In a nutshell, he is claiming that Europe is to blame for the current financial crisis, which is ‘scaring the world.’ Excuse me?”
“The American president seems to have forgotten a few details. The most important trigger of the financial and economic crisis was US banks and their insane real-estate dealings. The US is still piling up debt. . . The American congress is crippled by a battle between the right and the left. The banks are gambling just as recklessly as they did before the crisis. The president’s scolding is a pathetic attempt to distract attention from his own failures. How embarrassing.”
Cain: Ron Paul Supporters “Annoying,” Always Ask The Same “Stupid” Questions…

Too funny.
(TheDC) — Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain makes it clear in his new book that Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s supporters annoy him with their “stupid” questions about the Federal Reserve.
Cain, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, writes that Paul’s supporters are “threatened by me” and are “trying to destroy me on the fact that I was once affiliated with” the Federal Reserve.
Cain was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in 1995 and 1996.
The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of Cain’s book, “This is Herman Cain,” which goes on sale Oct. 4. In the manuscript, Cain claims Paul’s campaign “sends one of its ‘Paulites’ everywhere I show up.”
Paul is a proponent of auditing the Federal Reserve.
“I get the same stupid question at almost every one of these events,” Cain writes. “I know it’s a deliberate strategy. How can a person randomly show up at a hundred events and ask the same stupid question to try to nail me on the Federal Reserve? It’s really becoming annoying more than anything else.”
Cain said Paul’s fan have “stretched the truth” by accusing him of not wanting to audit the fed.
“I have never said that,” Cain wrote. “I have said: ‘I don’t think you’re going to find anything to audit on the Federal Reserve.’ But they want you to believe that Herman Cain doesn’t want the Federal Reserve to be audited.”

Poll: Only 21% of Egyptians Oppose Muslim Brotherhood…

(INN) — More than a third of Egyptians support the extreme Muslim Brotherhood movement, according to a new surveyconducted by the Egyptian government’s media and decision-making support center.
The survey, the results of which were reported by the pan-Arab daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat on Wednesday, revealed that 35% of citizens support the Muslim Brotherhood while only 21% oppose the movement.
The survey found that 58% of respondents said they would not vote for a president who is not of their religion, but do not reject outright the option that they would vote for a vice president who is not of their religion.
It was also found that 73% of respondents believe that the Egyptian people are a religious people, but that 76% of respondents expressed support for the idea that the religious identity of a person would not be specified on his ID card.
In addition, nearly 80% of respondents think that relations between Christians and Muslims in Egypt are not a source of problems, while 50% believe that “external factors” are the source of the recent sectarian clashes in the country. It was reported this week that the number of Christians to have fled Egypt since March is approaching 100,000 and could reach 250,000 by the end of 2011.
Al Sharpton Paranoid Unseen Democratic Forces Pushing For Hillary Clinton In 2012…

Via Washington Times:
Rev. Al Sharpton excoriated Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday who have been critical of President Barack Obama. He went after Rep. Maxine Waters, California Democrat, and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, Missouri Democrat, as 2008 Clinton supporters who were never supporters of President Obama in 2008, so it should not be surprising that both members of Congress are critical of the president today.
“I think there’s a lot of discontent because of unemployment. I think that the media has been irresponsible in saying that the president has lost support without saying that these people never supported him. The people that you were referring to supported Hillary against him.” he told reporters. “How could he be losing people he never had? So I don’t think it’s cracks (within the foundation). I think it’s the same people that told people in ’08 ‘don’t vote for him.’ And the community went and overwhelmingly voted for him anyway.”
When I asked Rev. Sharpton if he thought Democratic forces were pushing a Hillary Clinton 2012 candidacy, he responded: “I have no idea what they’re doing. I just know that it seems to be the same players and the same play.”
Biden: OK To Be Mad At Obama Administration For Craptastic Economy, “We’re In Charge”…
Obama contradicts Biden and blames Bush in 3 . . . 2 . . .1.
“There’s a lot of people in Florida that have good reason to be upset because they’ve lost the jobs. Even though 50 sum percent of the people think the economy tanked because of the last administration that’s not relevant. What’s relevant is that we’re in charge. . . I don’t blame them for being mad, we’re in charge.”

Pakistan Frees Senior Al-Qaeda Commander, Once Served As Bin Laden’s Bodyguard…

And we’re giving these scumbags billions of dollars a year.
(Telegraph) — Pakistan has freed a senior al-Qaeda commander, who served as a bodyguard to Osama bin Laden, according to a senior security source, raising fresh questions about the country’s commitment to tackling terrorism.
Amin al-Haq, who escaped from Afghanistan with the al-Qaeda leader in 2001 and went on to become a key financial aide, was detained in Lahore three years ago by Pakistan’s intelligence agency.
A senior security source in the north-western Pakistani town of Peshawar, where he had been held, said the Inter-Services Intelligence agency had passed al-Haq on to the police before he was released earlier this month.
“Amin al-Haq had been arrested mistakenly, therefore, the police failed to prove any charge of his association with Osama bin Laden and the court set him free,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
Pakistan has a poor track record of convicting terrorists, blamed in part on an ill-equipped police force and an overstretched judicial service.
However, critics accuse elements of the security services of turning a blind eye to extremist groups.
White House Defends Obama’s Speech To Congressional Black Caucus: “It Was Meant As a Rallying Cry”…

TOTUS is off the hook.
Washington (CNN) — A White House official is defending controversial comments President Obama made in a weekend speech to the Congressional Black Caucus.
“It was meant as a rallying cry,” the official said.
As the president was nearing the end of his speech he tried to pump up the audience with a rift punctuated by loud applause.
“I am going to press on for jobs,” he said, then telling those in the room, “I expect all of you to march with me and press on. Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying.”
Representative Maxine Waters, D-California, told CNN she found the comment “curious,” and she speculated that the president had gone “off script.”
The White House official said that in fact it was an ad-lib moment, but insisted that the audience gave the president more than a warm embrace.

PETA: People Who Get Killed By Sharks Deserve It…

Classy as ever.
(Daily Mail) — They are well known for their shocking adverts with some of the world’s most famous people posing naked to help boost their animal rights message.
But this time PETA may have gone too far with its latest campaign, which suggests those who swim or fish in waters containing sharks are attacked or killed as ‘payback’.
The new poster shows a shark eating a severed human leg and the blood-stained slogan ‘Payback is Hell’, which aims to shock people into turning vegan.
PETA say that in particular they hope it will make people rethink fishing, suggesting if people inflict pain on sealife they deserve it themselves.
This could be considered particularly offensive as a British man was yesterday left fighting for his life after he was attacked by a great white shark while swimming in the sea near Cape Town, South Africa. He has been named as Michael Cohen, who had lived in the country for a long time and had a number of his family members living nearby.

Obama Scolds Hispanic Roundtable: Stop Complainin’…

They have no reason to complain, Obama flaunted his power and granted de facto amnesty to millions of illegals.
(Politico) — President Barack Obama showed some frustration Wednesday as he responded to questions about stalled immigration reform, chiding a Hispanic roundtable that “we live in a democracy.”
“This notion that somehow I can just change the laws unilaterally is not true,” Obama told Hispanic journalists at an “Open for Questions” White House roundtable. “The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books I have to enforce. And there is a great disservice done to the cause of getting the DREAM Act passed and comprehensive immigration reform passed by perpetuating the notion that somehow by myself I can just go and do these things.”
Obama’s brief moment of pique highlights his struggle to maintain Hispanic support amid disappointment over his failure to push immigration reform aggressively and the inability of Democratic lawmakers to pass the DREAM Act through Congress. The act would offer a path to citizenship for some young illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children.
Just 48 percent of Hispanics approve of the job Obama is doing, down from 60 percent in January, according to Gallup. Hispanics, meanwhile, comprise potentially decisive voting blocks in key 2012 states including Colorado, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico.

Despite Claims She Was Joking, Audio Shows NC Dem Governor Was Serious When She Called For “Suspending” Elections…
Busted.
(TheDC) — If it was a joke, North Carolina Democratic Governor Bev Perdue needs to polish her delivery.
Newly released audio contradicts the claims of Perdue’s press team that her call Tuesday for suspending Congressional elections was a joke or hyperbole. In the recording, her tone is matter-of-fact and her comments are part of a serious speech.
“Listen to the Governor’s words: She wasn’t joking at all,” North Carolina GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood told The Daily Caller. “The congressional Democrats are wildly unpopular in North Carolina, so she may have been trying to invent a solution to save their jobs from public accountability.”
“If it was a joke, what was the set-up?,” Lockwood adds. “What was the punch-line? Where was the pause for laughter? It took them three hours to say it was a ‘joke,’ but when that flopped it became ‘hyperbole.’ We’ll just call it an unconstitutionally bad idea.”
Flashback: Only two months ago Obama “joked” about having the same powers Governor Perdue wishes he could have.
(RCP) — “The idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you, not just on immigration reform. But that’s not how our system works. That’s not how our democracy functions. That’s not how our Constitution is written,” Obama said at the National Council of La Raza’s annual conference.
