New Yorkers Not Exactly Thrilled With Leftist Protesters: “These Goddamned Hippies Close Down The Brooklyn Bridge So I Can’t Get Home”
Bonus: Charlie Rangel tried to address the crowd and was promptly chased off by an irate protester.
(NY Post) — A horde of Wall Street demonstrators shut down the Brooklyn Bridge for 2 ½ hours this afternoon, halting traffic and clashing as cops arrested as many as 700 on the famed span’s roadway.
About 100 cars were left stranded as the loud, angry crowd covered the crossing from end to end in an inflamed day of demonstrations against high unemployment, bank bailouts and financial pain for the masses.
One irate driver, a Ground Zero construction worker, blasted the pedestrians.
“I work my ass off all day, and these goddamned hippies close down the Brooklyn Bridge so I can’t get home?” he said. “This ain’t right!”. . .
Embattled Congressman Charlie Rangel tried to lend his support but was chased away by a heckler.
Rangel had begun an informal speech to the crowd when a man started taunting him, and then coming towards him, witnesses said.
City Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn) was standing nearby as the incident unfolded.
“Charlie was saying how they need to have more people down here to support this. That’s why he was there,” Barron told The Post. “This heckler came out of the crowd and went after him.”
As Rangel, who was unhurt, backed away from the pushy protestor the crowd came to his rescue, swamping the heckler and chanting in response: “Everyone has the right to speak.”

Capitalism is demonized on a regular basis in part because of people’s notion that capitalism is Wall Street bankers. That is not capitalism. That is the foreign banks bastardizing our system. What happens with Wall Street bankers and politics is called crony capitalism. The head of GE feasts off set asides and subsidies for green jobs and all the other environmental stuff. It doesn’t matter who is in office or who is in Congress. Crony capitalism is a rigged game. Frank/Dodd did nothing to address the ninja loans or derivatives, and now because of it the banks are expected to lay off up to 24,000 more within the next 6 months.

Handing out hundreds of billions of our money to save their own a&&es, some are saying Bernanke was able to give out up to $16 Trillion on the foreign level. WTF is what people should be screaming from the rooftops. This last 2010 sweep has not been so good for them, nor hopefully will the next. What does WallStreet prefer? Gridlock or corporate welfare?
