Obama Pleads For Applause From Crowd During Jobs Speech: “You Can Go Ahead and Clap, Go Ahead, Nothing Wrong With It”…

(LA Times) — Closing out his bus tour on a low-key note, President Obama made a pitch for his jobs package at a firehouse, where a subdued crowd needed a bit of prompting to applaud his proposal to boost the economy.
Obama visited Fire Station 9 to draw attention to a major piece of his $447-billion jobs package. He wants to spread $35 billion among states and cities, in part to prevent layoffs of police and firefighters, and would pay for it with a surtax on millionaires. Congress may vote on that measure as early as this week.
On Wednesday afternoon, Obama stood at a lectern against a backdrop of firefighters and offered his prescription for solving the persistent jobs crisis: “A fair shot for everybody; a fair share from everybody.
That’s the principle that built America.”The president got a polite reception from the 100 or so people crowded into the station garage. Early in his speech he mentioned his American Jobs Act.
One or two people clapped.
“You can go ahead and clap,” the president said. “Go ahead, nothing wrong with it.”

Obama was later overheard saying, ” This is a nice firehouse you have here, it would be a shame if something happened to it because you didn’t want to clap for the cameras.”

Again this is fracking typical of liberals – hit the taxpayers’ heart with firefighters, police and teachers. Notice they never talk about cutting waste as in useless programs or departments..

Maybe even firefighters, police, and teachers are starting to realize that their salaries come from people who work in the private sector and that this scam of Obama’s will be a short term pump and a long term drain.
Lesson here – when the MSM refuses to properly vett any candidate; walk away, do not vote for him/her.
Those two people that clapped were probably hit with a cattle prod by some White House staffer. There would have been more, but some one forgot to bring extra batteries. Looks like a battery czar will have to be named.

Obama, the principle that built America was the desire to build a better life for yourself & family. There weren’t any government give-aways.
I can’t think of a president in American history he has said such a thing during any speech when there was silence.

Fortunately for those of us commited to real change, this type of crowd forced humbling will only grow. Remember when the Democrats stopped holding townhall meetings? Remember the “I’m tired of defending you” Obama townhall moment? Remember the recent Messiah College audience reaction to Ms.Piven? Remember the OWS protesters in Atlanta shunning Mr.Lewis?
Too many Americans are suffering terribly for crowds to applaud simply for politeness sake or in order to be politically correct any longer. Almost everyone in this country has a close relative or extended family member adversely affected by the policies coming out of Washington today. Every statistical measure of the quality of life in our great nation is in shambles. Lower standard of living, higher unemployment, growing welfare rolls, growing number of “under employed”, record deficits, record governmental waste,…and on and on and on. IMHO, Obama must prepare himself for this level of disgust becoming commonplace. Failure hurts.

It’s quite easy, actually, to mistake what he thought he heard with the sound of people slapping themselves in the face trying to stay awake.
