Napolitano Says DHS Isn’t Going To Deport Illegals Picked Up Under Alabama’s Immigration Law…

WASHINGTON — The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security told Congress Wednesday that her agency is not helping to implement Alabama’s immigration law.

In response to a question from U.S. Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., Secretary Janet Napolitano said the agency is instead working with the Justice Department in its legal challenge to the law.

Some members of Congress and civil rights advocates have asked DHS officials not to deport people who are detained under Alabama’s immigration law if their only violation is an inability to prove they are in the country legally. Part of their argument is that if one federal agency, the Justice Department, is arguing in court that the law is unconstitutional, then other federal agencies should not help with its implementation.

“We have been working with the Department of Justice on its challenge to the law,” Napolitano told the House Judiciary Committee this morning.

Is there some reason why the House cannot vote to remove this woman for gross negligence or incompetence? Who is representing our interests?

So, in effect, a Secretary of a Federal agency has announced said agency is NOT going to enforce the laws it is tasked with??

How is this in any way legal. These state laws are merely doing what DHS is supposed to be enforcing.

    Hello, mob rule.

That’s ok. Alabama can just employ some older transportation devices.

So the Dept of Homeland Security Secretary is working with the Attorney General at the Dept of Justice, to challenge Alabama’s law which is basically an attempt to force the Federal Government to protect our borders from illegal invasion and protect our citizens from crimes committed by the invading forces.

If this wasn’t the Obama administration I would think that something is wrong.

Here in Alabama, I have a friend who does some translating for the court system. Arrested illegals are often held in prison for years awaiting a trial or deportation or whatever simply because the Feds won’t do their job. And Janet, you’re trying to make our State out to be the bad guy?!

So, it’s her decision to enforce the laws she wants to. So, with that thought, there is no more rule of law. She needs to be fired for not fulfilling her duties. And, since she’s purposely not fulfilling her duties, and it’s concerning our nations security, it’s quite treasonous and needs to be arrested. If she is not fired/arrested, then her boss is as guilty as she is. It’s not her place to decide what law not to enforce.

She needs a mass heckling, every time she’s in public — same with bo.

    Rufus,

    from link

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, which brought the charges, is the same office that in February 2006 — under U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton — prosecuted Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean after they shot a drug-smuggling suspect, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, in the buttocks as he tried to flee back into Mexico after abandoning a van filled with 800 pounds of marijuana. Aldrete-Davila also was given immunity in the case and testified against the agents.

Why should anyone be surprised by this…Border states have been dealing with this crapola from the federal govt. forever..In Texas the feds have poached our border agents, sued Texas for cutting off services to the colonias, legislated to allow illegals to own property and cut federal funding to border security so that Gov. Perry has to use $400 million in state funds. Meanwhile they build a useless wall in Brownsville a mile within the natural border of the Rio Grande cutting of American Citizens and putting close to 50,000 acres on the wrong side of a fence it takes 15 seconds to scale as seen on youtube. These people institute E-Verify which has a less than 50% success rate.

But Hey let’s just bash Gov. Perry and the state of Texas for refusing to build a wall in the middle of a 1200 mile shifting river protected by both international treaties and congressional legislation or building a fence in the middle of a giant canyon national park (Big Bend)…or bash Texas for allowing students to pay for college at instate tuition rates so the state could stay out of court and avoid California’s problems as best we could and paint both Texas and Perry as somehow soft on immigration.

Deportation is meaningless “won’t amount to a hill o’ beans” without a secure border and neither Obama or any of his lackeys has any interest in securing the border in an effective way….And NONE of the candidates for the GOP nomination knows SQUAT about the longest stretch of the border (Texas) because they avoid it…DC always does…

Perry has a viable plan based on what Texas has been using and what he knows from the other border governors that meet at the border state governors conference as well as his time leading the RGA.

For many politicians in DC…It’s just another border game.

    @handymanherb

    Ummmm….NO that is a lie.

In-State Tuition means that if they graduate from a Texas highschool & have lived in the state for at least 3 years they pay residential tuition rates & have to file for citizenship. If a student is from Ohio and lives in Texas for a year they can pay residential tuition rates.

Texas had already lost the K-12 case in SCOTUS. Texas did this to make the best out of a bad situation caused by the Federal Government. In California they build more prisons…Texas puts everybody to work so they pay taxes.
Nobody moves to Texas for the welfare.

Next you’ll blame Perry for not building a wall in the middle of a 1200 mile shifting river protected by a whole slew of federal laws and treaties….sheesh!
