Google’s Algorithm Has Decided Romney Can’t Win…
Kind of funny if you ask me.

Comments & pings are closed.(CBS News) — It appears that Google’s mysterious search algorithm has been making a suggestion that Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney may not appreciate.
When a Google user types the phrase “Romney can win” into the search engine, its spell check function responds with the message, “Did you mean: Romney can’t win?” Slate first stumbled upon the curious result and notes that no other GOP candidate is the victim of this Google glitch.
What exactly is behind the spell check suggestion will remain a mystery — more than 200 variables go into the Google search algorithm, which ranks search results and produces spell check suggestions. Google, for its part, insist it’s nothing personal against Romney — just a flaw in the system.

The typo is obvious to explain: someone’s been searching Google while wearing mittens.
ajm, did you mean ‘kittens’?
heh!
@ajm: Well done.
Actually if one types in, Palin can win, into the google search engine it does the same thing to her. Romney isn’t the only one the search engine has decided doesn’t have a chance.
and Romney has the best chance among the Repubs to beat Obama.
if the Repubs select one of the other announced candidates for nomination, it’s quite possible that they might finish third in the election
behind Obama and “none of the above”
Google search engine prognosticates?
Funny, I searched this website and can’t find the thread that mentions Herman Cain walked back yet another idiotic statement this morning. The one about supporting pro-choice. Funny that.
Google, according to The Economist, is the 7th largest corporation in the world. Think about that….corporation larger that Google are Exxon, Microsoft, Apple, and 3 overseas companies.
Google is a provider of information and physically produces absolutely NOTHING.
Are we really interested in their algorithm?
Seems like a political ploy to me…
This is a little “glitch” like the one when GWB was president that googling the word “failure” brought up the White House website. The millionaires at Google hate the system that made them so wealthy.
What’s even funnier is the “obama cannot win” (without the quotes) brings up 500,000,000 (!) results…
@Mad Dog
You’re right…
Remember the article which pointed out how many of Google’s employees were large contributors to Obama’s war chest…
So what, we don’t need RINO Rommey, it’s time for a real change, Cain/West 2012
So keep hoping that Cain can’t win, How’s that working for ya!

I’m glad you support pro-choice like your hero, Herb Cain.
‘Obama Can’t Win’ produces neither corrections nor options – only 510,000,000 (!) articles.
Haha. Sign of the times… and no, he can’t win. He’s a two-faced loser.
Google is smarter than your typical poll-tested American, that’s for sure.
But put in “Cain can win”, and you get about 97,800,000 results!!!
Two frustrating searches:
Try to find anything positive on Wisconsin’s Gov Scott Walker. I kept getting the leftie old (and WRONG) info about how he was “Dead Man Walker”…
Try to find out much about Bobby Jindal’s re-election as Louisiana’s Republican governor. Even with Obama Inc. refusing them any drill permits and ruining a major LA biz, unemployment there is 7%…but you won’t find it in the MSM.
I did a search back on Memeorandum from Sat (day of election). Found ONE mention on Hot Air. Yet what Jindal has done is unprecedented. But he’s a conservative — shove him under the rug.
dymphna—the GOP tried to showcase Jindal a few years back (Feb 09) and he flamed out spectacularly on national tv.
sorta disgraced himself doing it. made up some lame story and got caught in the lie.

that and the fact that he’s a
horrible public
speaker
@fuster
Too bad we can’t have a teleprompter dependent, serial liar like Obama.
@fuster
I noted you linked TalkingPointsMemo, a site that has the distinction of making the National Enquirer look like a paragon of journalistic integrity by comparison.
In TPM’s stampede to destroy all things from the Right, they have, as usual, left out any facts not convenient to their goal, and created some which are. And like all Leftist jungle drum communiqués, the spin is then picked up by gleeful, like-minded lemmings (like you) who proceed to treat the story as gospel.

I haven’t used Google since they appeased the ChiComs by engaging in state-sponsored censorship. Wonder where the sense of ‘social justice’ – alleged by the liberal regressives to be one of the planks of their platform – is in regards to the working people of China who are merely asking for raw, truthful (sometimes) information.
And I haven’t watched CNN since I found out one of their
reporters‘journalists’preachers of the liberal faith endangered American soldiers in order to get an interview with Hussein.Don’t miss either of them. Long live choice of products that is provided by capitalism
